Alan Alda has international recognition as an actor, writer and director. Has has been nominated for an Academy Award for The Aviator, Emmy nominated for his role on The West Wing, and has received 6 EMMYs. Alda played Hawkeye Pierce on the classic television series M*A*S*H, and wrote and directed many of the episodes. He hosted the award winning series Scientific American Frontiers on PBS for eleven years, interviewing leading scientists from around the world. He helped found the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University where he is a Visiting Professor, helping to develop innovative programs that enable scientists to communicate more effectively with the public.
His first memoir Never Have Your Dog Stuffed, and Other Things I’ve Learned became a New York Times bestseller, as did his second: Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself. If I Understood You, Would I Have This Look On My Face? was released in June 2017.
