Kim Werker is a writer, speaker, podcaster, and freelance editor who makes something – anything – every day as part of an ongoing project called #yearofmaking. A fierce proponent of looking closely at the parts of creative life that terrify us and hold us back, she’s been known to roll her eyes when implored to "think positively." Through Mighty Ugly workshops and talks, Kim helps people discover that the dark side of creativity is not to be avoided, but to be embraced as normal and inevitable. Her latest book is Make It Mighty Ugly: Exercises and Advice for Getting Creative Even When It Ain’t Pretty. A native New Yorker living in Vancouver, Canada, Kim spends her days editing her clients’ manuscripts, exploring Mighty Ugly, teaching people to crochet, obsessively making stuff, talking with makers of all sorts about why they make stuff, reading good books, and chilling out with her husband, son, and ageing mutt.
