Finishing the Walls and Corners
We're going to do the corners because I like that finished look in a book, um, we're going to cover each one of these corners with a with a little bit of another piece of mail again, this is some really gorgeous vintage paper that has this incredible handwriting on it, and I love this talk bit here, it seems to have a whole bunch of people signatures on it, and we're going to use that strip to cover each one of these four corners, just kind of a quick cover, but gives it a finished look on on all the edges, so I cut my paper, and what I want to do is I want to measure that top to bottom, so it's going to come around here? I'm obviously not going to use this top part, but if you wanted to, if you wanted to keep it at this at this high level, you could actually fold your paper in like this and use it as your actual corner that's that's just kind of smudging things around and using glue if you're comfortable with it, but we're going to cut it down to the actual size, so I know that the wa...
lls are an inch thick, so I'm going to use my inch ruler to cut this paper down to size my exacto as well and know that I'm going to use not quite this whole length of paper but a little bit on each corner to cover each corner I want to use the signature side so I'm going to cut about two inches of that and do that four times coming down that same piece of paper, cutting it four times I love that little pop that ends up happening tio if you, uh if you do cover the corners, you could use fabric you could use ribbon you could use a little tiny photograph for something that you cut out of an old book and it could be a great accent corner too your book box and all you're really doing is covering something else up, but it makes it look as if it's really wonderful finished part I'm going to use a lucic because it goes quick and it's soft enough on this old paper that I don't have to worry about ripping anything and take that around the edge and there's your little corner there's your little finished corner we're going to do that on each corner again glue stick because it's not going to rip and it's going to dry really quickly and it's just going to finish the edge of the book so I don't see any opening I don't see any black foam core again I'm a big smooch er so I tend to take my glues and kind of smudge my glues and papers together and that way, I don't feel any leftover perfectionist issues and I'm going to do that on each corner now in constructing this box, I have the option to actually bring the cover up and glue that onto the book box, and I'll show you a little bit of the two differences that it makes, so get those down real firm and then you have four finished corners it looks like maybe I didn't put enough glue on for that with the good thing with the glue stick is unlike a super water adhesive, water based adhesive there's no such thing as too much with that one. So with my finished book box, I can actually glue this cover here, and so I just when I open it have only that or I can leave it open like this, I can add fabric, I can add ribbon, I can add a tool, we'll go into that when I show you a little bit as we can work on the theme of the book, we can work on what the actual end product of this book is going to be and how you can go a little bit further with that book for now that's our book box and it closes just like that and I can end up putting my vintage letters in there and my stamp collection and have it all in there like that.

I learned so many things by watching this class that I always wanted to know. Molly gives great detailed instructions and fascinating suggestions for what you can do with these boxes. I got the sense that she is incredibly excited about doing this and it makes me want to do it to. It sparked a lot of ideas for me even though I doubt I will do exactly what she demonstrates.
