Creating Your Own Actions
If you want to make your own actions, here's how you would do that. So we'll just drag these to the trash. You want to open your actions panel and make sure that you are not in button mode. So from the panel menu makes your turn off button mode and then down at the bottom at the bottom, I would make a set so you can call it, you know, like my Grady in So you can keep your own set. So make a set by clicking this. This is a little folder button down here. So you make a folder for all your ingredients. Then you can click this button here, which will make a new action. So when you click on it, you name your action. I don't know what greedy in I'm going to make yet, so we can call it a rainbow. I guess we'll call it Rainbow and then you hit record. If you want to assign a color, these are your choices. Um, well, just do that. I guess so. We can see what it looks like, so we'll make it red. You can all our orange you can also create at a function key. Which means maybe you love the radiant s...
o much that you want to just be able to press f three and run the action. So the there you can assign basically a shortcut for that action. I'm not going to do that because I have my computer set weird. And it'll just be messy on camera right now. We're not gonna do it, but you could. Then we'll go ahead and hit record and then really quickly, as fast as you can. You have to make the grating. It's recording your steps. That's not recording time. Don't worry about having to rush. I still get anxious. I mean, I know that, obviously, but I still feel like Okay, it's recording me. Um, that's okay. So then you would just go ahead and make your Grady a map. So we'll come down here. She's great map who are kind of like purple. What else would go good with purple? Maybe like a Navy blue perhaps. I don't know. Let's try it. So we'll click on here and we'll try like a who do kind of like that we'll go with. Do you mean like that? We'll click. OK, we love it. Great. Okay, again. So we've made it. Let's say that we want to include a blend mode change with the action. Then we could go ahead and change the blend mode. Let's try something like, Let's see what overlays gonna dio? Oh, I kind of like it and maybe we fade it a little. Okay, so then we'll go back to our actions panel and we'll hit Stop. I guess the name Rainbow doesn't really apply anymore, does it will change that. That's OK, but what you can see is that it recorded all the different steps that we did. And if you want to see the specifics, you can get in here and click the little twirl down arrow and so we can actually see. Look at that. Look at the D sale. You can actually see that this was a custom Great. And you can see where the stops all our and I mean you can see it anyway because you can click in the adjustment layer, but you can see it all here also, So those are all of our different steps, and then we've stopped it. So let's go ahead and switch back to button mode and we'll scroll down. And now we see rainbow down here. Grape soda. We should call it. Yeah, let's edit that. So we'll go out of button mode. Let's go in here. And grape soda that is now the name of the, uh, ingredient action. So, um, if we go back then to button mode, then you can see but known hides your folder names. And that's why the color coding comes in so handy, cause otherwise there's no separation. If you've got, like, 10 different folders of actions, you're just gonna it's just a big dump in button mode. But if you color code things, I need to clean up my panel. Um, if you color code things, then it's a little easier to tell where you are on then to run it. You just click on that. So let's try another image. Maybe we can run it on Brett and Jenny here, so we'll click great soda and they're so it ran. You can see it changed the mode and the capacity. Now, maybe on this image, it doesn't work out quite as nicely. So I feel like it might be a little too much so maybe on this image, I'd want to tweak it further by fading it a little more. So that's your progressive. But that's how easy it is to control your color and manipulate all of these things. So let's go to the Internet for some questions. We have a few minutes left for sure. Do you have any questions? You have any Western? Straightforward We have. Ah. We have a comment from Blake said Care is doing an amazing all caps. Amazing job, presenting and explaining everything loving this. Oh, yeah. Do you have any final thoughts for people that are just starting out, like in this? If they if they get the conference that get the actions they can start playing with, Um, yeah, what would advice would you give? You know, I would just say Don't be afraid, Teoh play. I mean, I think I think when you're new, you it's easy to watch an instructor. Maybe not me, but maybe someone else. And thank gosh, how did they know that that was the right blend mode? And that was the right opacity, you know? How did how did care Know that? Um what do we even have here that multiply it. 60% would be amazing. Well, first of all, not in this case, but, um I don't know. I mean, trial and error teach you to make better guesses. But even when I'm making all this up, I'm still getting you know, when I add a color here and I'm like, Well, I think overly would be good here, but, you know, maybe so is multiply. I don't know. There are slightly different. So I'm always guessing to even after however many years of doing this, it's still a guessing game. So I think when you're new, we forget that. And I I know when I was new, I would get spiked out a little bit because I would see people doing all these amazing things. And I'm like, Oh, my gosh, I'm just how am I ever gonna learn all of this and know it like that? And then you realize, Oh, I mean, you know it by like you're still guessing. So if you can internalize that and just not be afraid to to play and dive in, then um you'll be amazed what you can discover

Khara is very personable and engaging. But I do think people should know this is NOT a color CORRECTION workshop. This is a basic course in that it provides a very brief overview of the pshop functions that can contribute to color manipulation. She does go most into gradient maps.
