Apps for Flying Drones
Let me talk to you about some of my favorite apps. So I talked to you about Airmap. This is where you can look up Airspace, you can look up rules. And this is where you can get airport contact info. So a super handy app. Its free, I love it. Its a great app. That's Airmap. So if you're like "what is he talking about?" No fly zones, where I can fly, where I can't, Airmap. Its awesome. Hover app, another great app. It helps you out with Airspace but it also talks about weather and lets you know the visibility at the location. You can see if there is a chance of rain. You can keep track of your flights. You can record your flight information. And it has drone news built in to it. So this is a cool handy app that's called Hover, uh free. Another free app I like is UAV Forecast. It also has some of those same things. I personally really like this app though because it lists like everything I need to know in one screen and I basically decide from there if I can fly or not. Is there a chance ...
of rain, what's the wind speed when's sunset, stuff like that. Really handy. Verifly app. For those of you who want some piece of mind. Get some drone insurance. This is on demand insurance. You can, for instance, open up the app and be like I'm gonna fly here at this beach for 15 minutes. Open up Verifly and you can get insurance for that 15 minutes. Gives you some piece of mind. And what that means, not if you crash your drone. I should clarify. But if you are worried about like, what if my drone falls or something like that and it hits a car or someone's house, or something like that, Get some drone insurance. They have policies that go really high up. So check out that. Another one is Skywatch.ai. Just like Verifly, on demand drone insurance. When I do a shoot where I feel like... Let me put it this way. Sometimes when I'm flying for fun, depending on the scenario I'm like, there's some things around, I'm going to get some insurance. I open it up. When I do my commercial shoots, I'm going to get insurance. I just want to be protected, right. Sun surveyor. This is an awesome app for when I'm planning which way the sunset is going to be. Like I want to know what is that angle. I love to use this website, er, well this app, excuse me, for figuring out where exactly the sun is going to be and at what time. Litchi app. This is a cool app you can use in lieu of the DGIgo app. It has some special features in there where you can do like 360 panoramas, so it will take all the photos automatically for you for a 360 panorama. So it has a lot of fancy features like that. You have a VR mode. Pretty cool app. I'm just gonna plug this out that I got to work on with some of my buddies, its called the Priime app, and this is for editing your photos. So if you like to edit photos on the go, this is a free app. Check it out, its Priime with two I's. And you can see some of my filters in there. I created some filters for this app, really cool. This is on the app store.

Dirk really did a nice job taking new students thru exercises to gain confidence. The work in Lightroom and Photoshop was helpful, but I wish more time could have been focused on flying or tips. Dirk has presets that he offers. It would have been helpful to see the results using those presets. Looking forward to the free which Drone to buy class and the advanced class

I definitely recommend this course if you are thinking about getting into drone photography looking for the fundamentals. I now feel pretty confident I can get started and that my learning curve will be greatly shortened thanks to the technology available today and a great roadmap of getting started. If you are already started... follow up with his advanced topics... I know I will.

Super class. As a beginner I had little idea what to expect and never got started because of all the talk of people crashing drones right and left and losing a fortune. Dallas made it seem simple. So I bought a Tello beginners drone (great starter by the way), got hooked and am now flying a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and studying for a commercial license. Not sure, this is a great class to start with.
