Fusing Interfacing to Fabric
So now we're completely finished with their zipper at least for this application getting it sewn into our bag and I can remove my zipper foot and put my regular foot back on so exactly the same thing I press on this little button here on my foot drops off and then they can clamp down on my regular foot I make sure my throat this underneath and I'm good to go so if you're following along in your instructions the next step is to take the outer fabric of your bag here and place those right sides together so we just finished the zipper and you have one lining fabric and one outer fabric on either side of the zipper so you're going to take the two outer fabrics kind of shake that lining off and please thes to order fabrics right sides together just like this flip those lining fabric so they're out of the way and we're gonna pin and so these straight edges of our bags together so I'm going to put my pins in a couple along each edge making sure that the edges of my fabric or nice and even wit...
h each other same thing here pin and pin and then I'm going to line up and stitch them on my machine a reminder that the seam allowance for this pattern is three eights of an inch or one centimeter so that's where I'm going to line up when I so and obviously we want these stitches to stay together, so I'm going to do a back stitch at the beginning and at the end, and I'm going to repeat that for the rest of the two sides, so on the lining side, we're going to sew the seams together pretty much the same way, except for we need to leave an opening in the bottom of the lining, so I've got my edges pins together and on the bottom edge of my lining here I'm going to mark two marks five inches apart from each other doesn't have to be exactly in the middle, but it should be somewhere in the middle of the fabric here. I'm going to do one mark right here so I can really see it and then five inches away from that, I'm going to make a second mark. This time when I stitch, I'm going to stitch the sides straight down from the top to the bottom, but when I stitch the bottom edge here, I'm going to do a back stitch come over to my mark in back stitch, then jump over to my second mark back stitch, so to hear in back stitch, I want to leave this opening unsound, so that is the only difference between sewing the outer fabric together and the lining fabrics together.

This was such a fun class and I felt so confident once I finished the box zip bag! I just bought the class last week and I've already finished two larges.
