Class Introduction & Mission Statement

It is really important to make sure that you are in alignment with your brand and especially as a creative, really that is the palette that you are working off of and so we are going to dive, really granular into that to understand ever facet, to make sure that your brand is in alignment with your business. So to start things off, let's talk about what a brand template is. So your brand template includes things like you mission statement, your core values, your logo, your company colors, your company font, and just your online aesthetic as it pertains to your website and your social media. So we'll start off here with diving a little bit deep into your mission statement. So your mission statement is basically a short statement of your company's purpose. So when you think about you and your business and your understanding how to really portray that, basically what we're saying is you want to say what you will provide and how you will provide that in your mission statement. So let's take...

a look at an example of a mission statement, and this mission statement actually comes from my stock photography business, TONL. So here we write, "To transform the idea of stock photography by displaying images of diverse people and their stories around the world." So let's take a moment and let's dissect this mission statement. So I said earlier that the first thing you want to portray is the what. So the what here is to transform the idea as stock photography. That is exactly what we're doing. Well how are we doing that? The how is by displaying images of diverse people and their stories. So again you want to be very clear on exactly what it is that you're doing with your business and how you're achieving that and mirror that to make the perfect mission statement.
