So I'd like to see what are our studio audience is hearing here it looks like we've got some great stuff to post that all right? Ok I feel this one I think it's fabulous all right? Anyone else brave and us okay this I know that you're not done with this one but this is really cool look at that view and talk through that particular one yeah yes it back through the whole process maybe that like what we've just done so looks like you ran out of room for the g I almost got anything in there I do it a little time and you know it's really tricky with stuff like this well, here's another really good tip I forgot so you know, if you're doing something like this and letter fitting becomes the problem this gets really tough you can actually mock something like this up in illustrator and then use that as a template like as your pencil skeleton and then draw and letter over the top of that because especially when you're this is really challenging I mean, you picked a tough one trying to get all of...
those letters in in this nice you know, like tight compress little format, no shame in doing that, you know, you could you could let her this part up right here and then stick it into illustrator and then put in, you know, I believe like impact or you know something you know a sand surf on and then print that out and then letter it again right or letter just this one part and then put it back together again frankenstein it you know so to speak and you have two different piece from so that is actually something I know that a lot of people do as well when they're working with lettering is that they'd like to actually composed thanks sometimes in the computer first and then do lettering over the top so that's another alternative so this I think it's just really you know we have some interesting stuff going here chasing chasing fifty get get here so this has got some really just you know like some nice you know kind of free flowing elements maybe a little bit close in space right here between five and zero but again this is a you know a version and that would be something that would be easy to correct you know the next time you put you know tracing over the top you can just go through and you know kind of like titan and move some of these elements part on dh she actually did the pasting method after my own heart so if not now when this is a really interesting study in letter shapes and how these letters interact with each other and kind of formed this you know really unique little it's like a little river in there and so with this I mean and we have kind of something similar you know repeated elements you know from here to here and I would just say like this I is starting to read us a j so that might be something that you might want to like in the next rendition you know create like an eye that you know has something you know what I mean that doesn't have this tale coming off and pretty minor fix though I think that's really cool make sure that you have consistency between your sticks in your thins throughout the whole thing but again like I said you're doing you know you would do this thirty times right by the time that you got dancing to the end of it you're good yeah first you know first first what is the first time first second times three times a charm thirty times thirty times is a charm all right let's take a look uh let's go over here actually because I like to keep the cameramen moving they're not getting enough exercise right there getting way more than me okay so this is what I'm so thrilled and excited about hello that is incredible isn't it so let me go put this on this board while I vanna white fists knew this around oh I didn't smudge it I got lucky although I have ruined other people's artwork before it wouldn't be the first time so this is really I mean this is a very complex layout you know I mean it's son this is really neat you must have thought about this a bit before yeah I can I can tell so what's so unique about this is this you know this sudden kind of this lyrical quality to it and I like that what she did is that you know she has you know she's combined two different styles of love letters and you know we have a script and we have a sand sarah and then what she's done is that you know she she spread this out this g is really just I mean that's just a work of art this g right here on its own could be a little logo yeah trademark yeah copyright ok but you know she she did some interesting things with these washes remember how we talked about flourishes is kind of being a structural element so she has this like this to sitting on top of it you hear and me and it's really has almost like this wave kind of interesting effect to it it's it's absolutely beautiful fabulous work you guys all didn't amazing jog thank you thank you so so much maybe you can give us your final words and tips for people and encouragement because this can be daunting uh yeah there's there's a lot to be done with it you know I think the biggest thing to understand when you're getting in the lettering is that you know you really have to put the hours into it there's there's no shortcuts there's you know there's nothing around it and mastery comes with time and effort and putting into it this is kind of a little funny tip but the one thing that has really really kept me lettering and really kept me in the practice is that I do this sitting at home on my couch watching tv at night and I have a whole set up I have like my whole coffee table is like another work space and I keep paper there and I have you know I put a pillow on my lap and I have this little weasel just a small little easel that I put up there and I thought that you know like I'm just relaxing watching tv and I'm lettering and I find that I do that so much more because if I had to go and go back to my office and back to my studio downstairs and start lettering again I probably would not end up practicing very much because then it feels like work you know what I mean it doesn't feel like this luxurious kind of fun thing so I really recommend you know getting outside of your comfort zone or being really well really you know in the midst of your comfort zone and that will help you practice and studying it and as faras composition you know one of the best ways to learn composition really is look into research and to really fill your brain with its much creative matter as you possibly can you know kind of think of your brain is being like this this picture of water and the water or the ideas and you have to take the ideas and put enough of it into that pitcher of water so that it spills out over the top and that is where you get your inspiration and your ideas you can never look at enough images keep a library I have twelve thousand images in my little life might little ipad library and I look through that stuff constantly and I'm always getting new and interesting and thoughtful ideas and I just can't you know express how important that it is a swell so that's it thank you all so much for for doing this and watching and tuning in and of course my amazing in studio audience who had some great Laura Worthington is one of the best calligraphers I follow. She is an excellent teacher and I enjoyed this class very much. It allowed me to know her "in person". She teacher her tallets and allow students to follow their own style.
