Uploading your Video to YouTube
Okay, so uploading your video to YouTube. I know that this part can be very overwhelming, because you either-- there's really one of two ways that you can upload a video to YouTube. Add the title, put it out there, press publish. Or, you do the work to make sure it's actually gonna be found. But that part takes a little more effort. So I'm gonna break this down in the most simplified way that I can, to explain what you need to have, in the backend when you upload your YouTube video. So let's start with metadata, which I know for a lot of you, you're probably thinking "what now?" I did too for a long time, but I figured out what it meant. So, (laughs) metadata simply means having the keyword or the filename, they need to be congruent with the topic that you want to be found in for search. So, you just add it into your title of your filename, when you save the file. So for example, with Laura's video we would've exported that and we would've saved the file as camera settings for head sho...
ts, or best camera settings for head shots. Just having the keyword in there, the more raw data that Google and YouTube can get from your video, the higher your video is going to be able to rank, because the more they're gonna know what it's about. So, you can do things even by adding into the raw file on your computer, you can add in tags, relevant tags, which we're gonna talk about in a second, you can add in other keywords that are related, all of this is more information, and just think about it that way. Nobody's really reading your description, no one's really looking at any of this, it's for Google, it's for Google and YouTube. That's it. So it doesn't even need to really be well thought out in how it's presented, it just needs to be in there, so that it can actually be found. So metadata first. Second, keyword in the title. If you don't have your keyword in your title, no one's going to find you. It's not gonna work. You won't have that traffic building title that we worked so hard to find for you. It won't be doing anything to build traffic, because it's not in there, so you have to have that keyword in your title. So in this case it would be best camera settings for heads shots. Three, description and secondary keywords, which I'm gonna go over in a second, so I won't get stuck on that too much right now. Custom thumbnail, make sure you verify your Google account in order to access that. So you wonna upload that before you make the video public. And tags, which again, I'll go over in just a moment, and those are gonna go right below where your description is there. So you'll see those in just a minute. You also wonna add your conversion site. So, does everyone remember the conversion site, where you want to send people, so Facebook group, or to a social platform, or to your email list, you wonna have that actual link in your description, so that people know where to go. And it's easily accessible for them. Also, in order to do all of this, you wonna upload your videos as unlisted. So you can upload your video, don't make it public right away. Cause you wonna make sure that before you make it public, all of this is done, because the moment you make it public, there's like a 24 to 48 hour clock, that starts, that Google and YouTube pay attention to, to how many views, and how much velocity your video is getting, in those first 24 to 48 hours. So you wonna make the most of them, so all of this info should be in there, so you're actually getting picked up in search. So uploaded as unlisted. So the next step, is how to find your tags. So you can see here, you have 500 characters, in your tags on YouTube, to add in different kinds of keywords. But they need to be relevant, to your primary keyword which is the keyword in your title. So this one's how to launch a YouTube channel, I have that right in the description, and then I have a bunch of related tags, so how do you actually find tags? 'Member my little alphabet trick earlier? We can use that same trick. So, if you're talking about headshot photography, or how to make, how to get good head shots which really is what you're talking about, it's camera settings, but you're also talking about headshot photography specifically. First of all you can look up best camera settings, or camera settings, and do the alphabet trick with that, and find related keywords. Which are all of these keywords that pop up below here. The things that pop up when you're searching anything on YouTube and Google are the topmost relevant and related searches, related to those keywords. So those are really important to pay attention to. So for this, headshot photography. We can use headshot photography tutorial, headshot photography lighting, headshot photography tips, headshot photographer, all of those are relevant to that main primary keyword. So you wonna take all of those, and add them in as tags to your video, because, this is the really cool part, maybe I'm just a big nerd, but I think it's cool, but (laughs) what I think is so amazing about this is that say I add in the headshot photography tips keyword to the tags. If someone is searching for best camera settings? I'm gonna show up there, 'cause I've optimized it in the right way. If someone is searching for, headshot photography tips? I'm potentially showing up there too. Because I'm adding that relevant keyword in there. Is this making sense? Awesome. Cool, so that's the easy way to find tags, simply using Google, or YouTube. So, the next step is, make it public! There you go! So that's broken down, how you upload your video to YouTube, how you add all of the information, how you find the tags, which is vital, and most importantly, everything leading up, to actually making it public.

I make videos professionally. Perfect videos will not necessarily do great on YouTube, and not perfect videos may do well on YouTube. The secret is "the strategy behind them". Sunny´s class is great to help you give your videos a better chance for a "successful life" on YouTube. Thank you from Costa Rica.

Awesome class! When I launched my latest YouTube channel, I watched a TON of Sunny's videos for guidance on how to build great content and an audience! I had decent initial growth, but when work got busy, I stopped creating long form content. I'm launching my Patreon this month and was pleasantly surprised to see this course with Sunny on CreativeLive! My favorite part was diving into analytics. If I'm being honest, I've ignored this part for a long time because it seemed complicated and arduous. Sunny made it easy to understand and pointed to the exact places I need to look to see why my top ranking videos are getting views. I will also be stealing the Outdoor Partner Workout idea, since I am a fitness professional ;)
