Class Introduction
Thank you. Thank you. So we're gonna start out today, I'm gonna tell you about a journey that I just took in March with my family. We went down the Grand Canyon, the Colorado River for 280 miles over 25 days. And it was the journey of a lifetime. Some people said that the rapids were the biggest thing that they had ever seen as we were gathering information about this journey. Some people said the rapids were no big deal. But everybody agreed that this was a journey that would change your life. So as we got on the river, the scenery was unbelievable. And you can see here, that there were rapids, but there were calm places. And so this was this journey over 25 days. It was extraordinary, time to take in this magical place, disconnected, spending time together as a family. But, there was a dark side to the river, too. And it was overpowering and scary and tumultuous. And this is my 12 year old daughter right here in the middle of it all. And over here is my husband, leading the way, Pete...
r. And, so, there were moments of terror. There were moments of extraordinary beauty where everything came together and it was this blissful experience of color and peace and tranquility and amazingness. And, we had some people that joined us along the way in a raft. Some days this journey was so much that I couldn't get in my own kayak and paddle. It was too hard and I needed friends. That's me in the red helmet in the front, I needed friends to help me navigate these huge rapids that were ahead of me. And so I'm sharing all of this with you today because you guys are on the beginning of an amazing journey. And it's very much like that of the Grand Canyon. You have this overwhelmingly big project ahead of you and it's going to have times of peace and tranquility and beauty, and there are gonna be times of excitement and amazement. And then there are gonna be times of sheer terror where you're going to say, I really need help, and I don't know what to do, and this might be too much for me. But what I wanna tell you is that over this class, I'm gonna be your raft. And I'm gonna be the person that you can come to and say whoa, this is way too much, I don't think I can can do this. And I'm gonna be your safety, and I'm gonna help you get to, through, that big scary rapid or whatever it is that you're facing and we're gonna do it in a way that is smart for your business. We're gonna do it in the most cost-effective way that we can possibly do it. And we're gonna do it where we protect your time, so that you can have moments like this in your life where you're like, I did it! And I have time to enjoy it. Because starting a business, it can take everything from you. It can take all your money, all your time, and at the end, you're in debt, burned out, and ready to run screaming, why did I ever do this? And so this class is going to teach you how to manage all of those things and give you that support raft so that you can navigate all the rapids of this business that lie ahead of you. Sound like a good deal? Yep. Alright, good. Let's go then, let's talk about what's gonna be covered. So we're gonna start out in segment one, and we're gonna talk about writing a business plan. Now oftentimes people think of writing a business plan as something to get a loan from a bank. But this class is all about building a business for $3,000, so hopefully, you won't need a loan from a bank for that amount, okay? This business plan is going to be your guiding document on how to spend your money over the course of your business. Then, in the next segment, we're gonna talk about building a product line. What products do you offer? What should be thinking about as you're looking at including or excluding different products from your offerings? What do your clients really want? What are you really good at? We're gonna talk about all of those things. Then, in segment three, we're gonna talk about creating a pricing strategy. This is always the big question when starting a business. How much is too much? How much is not enough? What do you really need to make to be profitable as a business owner? So, this is all about coming up with a pricing strategy that makes your clients wanna buy at what you need them to buy at. Then, we're gonna talk about a sales strategy. A pricing strategy is no good unless you have a way to present it to your clients in a positive, authentic way. So we're gonna talk about how to interact with your clients in segment four. Then, how do we get those clients in the door? We're gonna talk about a marketing plan. And you're actually gonna walk out of here with a marketing plan, or at least an idea of how to do one. It's kind of an overwhelming thing to think about a business plan and a marketing plan all in one thing, but I promise it's gonna be easy. Then, this is a big one, we're gonna talk a lot about a website and how you can use your website to make your business work for you. There are great ways to use it and ineffective ways to use it, and we're gonna talk em all. Then, we're gonna talk about your social media. Social media is critical in this day and age, and how do use that effectively to communicate with your clients? And then lastly, we're gonna talk about brand, and brand is this really ethereal thing. A lot of people think about logos or fonts or colors, and that's your brand. But there's so much more to what your brand is and so, we're gonna be talking about that and giving you tools on how to solidify your brand and how to communicate that effectively to your clients.

Kathy was a wonderful instructor. She was engaging and someone who was precise and incredibly helpful. We have a full time photography business and are always looking for new ways of running our business. Her information was insightful and forced us to have conversations about our business that we have haven't had in several years. She is fantastic and someone who has the information needed to help you start or expand your business. Thank you for a wonderful class!!

Thank you Kathy for yet again another very thought provoking class. You are such an inspiration, teaching us the right questions to ask ourselves so we too can be brilliant photographers / entrepreneurs. I was a fulltime RVer for seven years, traversing 44 states and seeing some of the most beautiful places on our planet. It gave me a great opportunity to meet some extraordinary people and to hone my photography skills. Now I have put down roots in Stapleton - Denver, CO and am soon to launch my own Family Lifestyle Photography business. Your course has definitely given me the courage to just charge ahead and go for it!

Another top notch production from the amazing team at Creative Live! Kathy Holcombe, aka FAMAGOGO did a great job of covering all the basics along with the associated costs involved in starting up a photography business. However, you don't need to be a beginner to get great info from this class, it's packed with ideas and tips that even an experienced pro can put to work and take to the bank literally the next day. I highly recommend this class.
