Making Giant Bubbles
Now what we're gonna do is we're gonna make giant bubbles and it doesn't really matter uh that we've got a little bit of breeze in fact it could be a lot of fun with the breeze because we can send some really big bubbles up in the air and see what happens the secret to making a good bubble is having an all cotton t shirt and that makes a great wicking solution and then makes a really good bubble wick you usedto having the bubble stuff with like a plastic ring and they're kind of ridge to hold the bubble solution but if you have a t shirt it works way better yes and jane and I have been making really great bubbles in our backyard so um the first step in making a giant published that cut a couple of loops of t shirt material with your shirt so jane do you want to have the honors first of all get rid of the him so we're going we're going to cut this him and just starting it all yeah and try to keep his straight line is possible but you're doing fine and I got him walking through the shirt...
I cut the tag oh oh shoot we'll go around that's okay here let me just quickly go around and get that one so I'm going to just get that ham has that threads and so so you don't really I want that part so we will just cut that off is really over here with the bubbles even the smallest bite us pop exactly. Just cut that fat off some people come up with special bubble solutions for this, but I find that just the standard store bought bubble solution in a large bag works really well I mean a large large bottle because we have what we want to do is cut a couple of loops that are about uh, half an inch to an inch wide make sure you get both sides of the t shirts and we're gonna cut two loops and after you cut out the loop, you just give it a nice stretch and it turns kind of rope like you consume another reason why you don't use to him making as the string so you cannot do that keeps you from stretching it out, so give it a nice stretch like that and I'm going to do it to the other. I'm going to make another one. Also, we need two of them, so take your time, try to cut it straight I would say get in between uh, half an inch to an inch thick and stretching and then stretch it and you'll see that when you stretch it like this yeah, yeah, exactly it gets on there, yeah gets all narrow tried okay, cool okay, so that's all you need to do now you have two loops that looks great jane two loops with uh uh this threat remember so ok and then the next thing is everyone should have a couple of these uh a couple of these dowels here that have a hole through them has everybody found their their dowels here? Okay, so what we want to do is take one one of your loops and you're going to you're going tio cut it into two pieces with your scissors so that right in half so that you have two pieces that are of equal length like yeah and then get rid of one of the pieces we won't be using it so you can yes you equal to equal yes two cuts two equal pieces and then with your long loop you do one cut guess what? It doesn't matter where you cut it. So now what you have are two pieces of did you kiss your material? One is twice a cz long is the other one okay, so let's see way can, uh we can use of our fishing line to this next step go ahead and get some fishing line and what you're going to do is take take the short end and the long end and tie not get about I would say get about eight inches of the fishing line sorry, jane and tell you not so that you are tying those two pieces together like so. And then once you have those tied together you thread that fishing line through the hole here and tie that into and not a cz well, but don't attach it so that the fishing so that the t shirt is right up against the dowel you want to have, like, a little bit of space like that? So do you see this? You wanted to look like that. You see how that looks? You type you tied through the hole in the dowel, you see that you let me take a look here, so, uh, you could just do it like like this, okay? And then, uh oh, ok. So then I'll show you the next step. So then what you want to do is keeping the short move. You take the short length in the long length and tie them to the other dowell just like you see here. So we'll get another link. Could you cut me a length of fishing line, please? Sixty eight inches long like this? Yeah. That's good. I drop this up for you. Oh, thank you. And we will tie this together and she was secure and then tie the other end through the dowell and make sure it doesn't completely touched the dowel that way you won't have something that's gonna make the bubble pop before its time. So you're gonna end up something like this. It looks like a big smiley face almost if it doesn't have a whole just tied around and, uh, this rapid around several times and, uh, maybe taped traps and cape around it to make sure that it doesn't come loose. It doesn't have a whole army on either end. Did you check both ends? All right, so so what we want to do next is at a weight to the bottom so that when you open up your loop, it doesn't start flopping around in the wind that will make it so that it's harder to make bubbles. So we're going, we're going to use one of these large washers. Here's, where is jane? Jane was has suggested that you put the weight on that way, that will probably work with the fishing line or you could do it this way that's about it. Once you guys were done waken, check these out and also what I'm going to recommend is, uh, trimming off the loose ends of the fishing line so that they don't pop the bubble so that's basically it that's the secret to doing that looks really good, kevin. And how are you? How are you doing, bob and cal? Just one more? One more efficiently. These help? Okay? And dan and chance, how are things going over there? Feel good about you looking good and we're good all right. Unfortunately, weather beaches today we would have thought it. We've had a drought in california already around till the one day we needed to be up filming on the roof, and the rain came only a little bit. A little bit is enough. Just a couple of notes that I wanted to say first before I forget. Just quickly, we take the off the shelf bubble solution, a big container of it. You can get a like a white plastic bucket or any kind of a bucket and put about an inch to an inch and a half a bubble solution in the bottom of that bucket, and then you take your two dowels let's pretend that we have the net here and you just dip them into the bucket. Stirred around in the solution. Gently, you don't want to agitate it too much to make. Too many, too much foam just lifted up. Spread the wand out so that you have a nice triangle shaped, filled with them. Film a bubble solution, and then and then when it gets big enough, like when the bubble gets big enough, so that it does not get to begin in pop, start to slowly close that pinch off the bubble. And if there's no, when you could just walk backwards slowly and that's enough to make that bubble come out of the wick and you have a nice bubble. And like I said, check out the video. You'll be able to see it it's, really cruel and it's. A lot of fun to do.
