Lightroom Mobile Camera
So we have talked about importing images in tow, light room in various ways. Whether that's from your desktop computer or whether it's from your phone or your IPad doesn't really matter where it's coming from. It's all gonna go to the same place. It's gonna go up to the cloud, and then it's gonna be distributed throughout all of your devices, which is great. But another way Thio import images is directly through the camera of your phone. When you're taking pictures here. Now there's two ways to do that. And so the first way to do that is inside of light room. You could go to the settings, and you can tell it in the settings in the import dialog box. Here, you can tell it to automatically from the camera roll. Add photos. So if you ever take a photo with your camera on your phone, just the normal camera app, it will automatically import. That image is gonna be a J peg or some or the new version of J. Pay it. It's Whatever you take is going to go to the camera roll, and then it's gonna b...
e copied into light room and then shared to the cloud. But the other way that you can bring images in is directly through the camera app here, inside of light room. And you can see that camera down at the bottom right hand corner. And this is a really fantastic serious camera. So when I'm taking pictures of of, you know, documents and random things and oh, I wanna you know, go to the grocery store and this is the type of, you know, mayonnaise I want to get or whatever. I just use my regular camera on my phone. But when I'm trying to take a serious photograph, that's when I open up light room and I go to the light room camera because several things Number one. I have a lot more controls. I have control total control over focus. I have total control over white balance. I can even set the white balance. Specifically, I have total control over my exposures shutter speeds. Uh, the actual exposure, the I S O settings in the camera as well as I have the ability to go through several different modes. I could do an automatic mode. I conduce a professional mode where I have control over all those items and I could do an HDR. Now it's a better HDR than just your normal camera app because your normal camera APs hdr still giving you ah finalized JPEG or a finalized, you know, hard coded, pixel based image. Whereas your HDR from light room is actually providing you with a d N G, which is a raw file, which means it's gonna be a much more robust file type, and you're gonna have a lot more bit depth and color depth in that thing so you can work on it more. So any time I am going to take a serious photo from my phone, I'm going to use the light room app and I'm gonna go to that camera in the light room app and use that now. I went to the snow with my family. I'm in Arizona in Phoenix, so it doesn't snow here, but once in a great great great great great while. And so whenever there's snow, we try and go to it and let my kids see what snow looks like. And so we were out there and of course I'm not gonna lug my camera around when I'm playing with my kids. But I do have my phone. And so I actually hit the screen record so you could see what it was like for me to photograph in the snow. And so you can see as I'm, you know, just running around with a camera. I'm able to, you know, get in close on. Like, for instance, in this case, I'm getting in really close to this, um, this little, uh, weed that's sticking through the snow. And I am able to change the focus so that I know exactly where the focus is rather than just relying on an auto focus. Um, in the case of these rocks, I'm able to choose either a wide angle or telephoto lens s so I can choose either one of my lenses. And I'm able to do an HDR image so that the shadow on the highlights or not to vastly different. But again, it's a raw HDR. So I'm looking at a d n g hdr. Um, and my favorite was just this little snowball. We had one of those snowball makers, so we had It's a just a perfectly round snowball, and I thought it was fantastic. Every image that I was shooting, including the snowball, which I love this photograph of this snowball that I'm photographing. And so those images were going to go up to the cloud. And then I'm going to get images back here on the computer and let me show you the difference between them. So I'm inside of light room and you can see here that all of them are D and GS. But this one says HDR on the top of it. So it's actually tagged as an HDR so I can go in and retouch this image right here on my phone if I'd like or adjust it to my heart's content. But I generally prefer to do most of the heavy editing, either on the IPad or on the on the computer, just because this doesn't have quite the screen that all of my other devices have. However, I love to share from my phone, and that's the beauty of light room, and the creative cloud is that I can photograph on my phone. I can import images on my phone or my IPad or my computer, and then I can edit them anywhere. I like most of the time on the computer, but then I can share directly from any of them to anywhere. That's the beauty of the creative cloud, and that's the beauty of having a camera right inside your light room applications.

Great great great class: Jarett explains the Lightroom workflow clearly and thoroughly. I am not a native English person and my English is quite poor but Jarett explains in a very simply and clearly way everything and I understand all chapters perfectly. Thanks guys, great job. I highly recommend this lesson to everybody,
Roger
I have watched each and everyone of Jared's classes on Creative Live and they are first class. I've waited a long time for a new one and now we have it and it's another gem. This is a wonderful overview of Lightroom and will repay watching sections (or all of it) several times to absorb the wealth of information presented. For anyone new to Lightroom, this is just what the doctor ordered.

Great class. So informative with just the right amount of practical examples combined with clear theory. He speaks clearly, confidentially and calmly so it was easy to follow him. I watched the whole 8 hours straight through
