(electronic music) Let's take a look at how you can save and load presets. Therefore, once you get a good number of presets created, you'll know how to save them out so you can offer them for sale. Then, you'll have to show people how to load them, and so let's go through that process. Here I am in Lightroom Classic. And left side of my screen here in the developed module, I see my presets right over here. In order to save these out so I could make them a downloadable item, all I need to do is right-click on the name of one of these groups, and that's where I'm gonna find the choice of export group. And when I choose that, this comes up, and it asks me, where would I like to save it? My desktop's fine. And what would I like to name it? And it's going to produce a ZIP file. And what that means is usually, these particular presets would be saved as individual files. They'd actually be what's known as XMP files. And instead of giving you one for each one of these presets, it's gonna com...
bine them all together by putting them in into a special folder and then compressing them as a ZIP archive. And all I need to do is hit Save button and remember where I told it to save it. Now, I'm just gonna go look at the contents of my desktop, and there's the file it produced. It's a tiny file, it's only 5K, but it contains all the presets that were found in that particular group. There's no need to expand this if you see it's a .zip file. Most of the time, you get a file like that because somebody emailed you something, or you downloaded something and you need to expand it to use it. We don't need to. All we need to do if we wanna use it is let's say I came in here and I deleted all these presets. I'll right-click on it and say Delete Group, so we lose all of those presets. So now, it's as if I'm on somebody else's machine that doesn't have the presets. In order to load them, all I need to do is come up here to the heading of presets, go to the right side of my area, hit the plus sign, and say Import Presets. Then, I need to simply point it at that file and hit Import, and it'll take it just a moment. And when it's done, down here, it just imported all of those presets. But, that's not all that it imported. If I hadn't already had over on the right side of my screen in the area called the profile browser, if I didn't already have the ones that were called LR Presets and had that one that inverts the colors, it has now been installed as well because it's necessary for one of our presets to operate properly. Let's go revisit what was found there on our desktop and just so you understand what it is. This, if I double-click on it, will produce just a folder. And inside that folder are all our presets. Each preset ends with the letters XMP. And that's all there are. Each one of these is between one and three kilobytes in size. And if I were to right-click on the folder and choose Compress, at least on a Mac, it would compress it again into a ZIP file and I could throw away the folder below. And then right there, that's all I have to offer for sale. This is the download that they would get. And the only thing I would add to that is a PDF installation guide, which I'll provide with this class. And you're welcome to provide with any presets that you sell, so anybody that purchased your preset would know how to install them. And therefore, all they would get is a PDF file of install instructions and then this, which would be the presets themselves. In addition to that, you're welcome to also create an extra PDF that might show before-and-after pictures of each preset, so people could get a better idea for what each one was kind of designed for. And you could include a little paragraph underneath each before-and-after that tells you what kind of image it is best used for. So you can say, "This is good for portraits when, I don't know, somebody had look sunburnt. It would reduce the sunburn look." Or something like that, a description. And therefore, you'd have a whole guide that would come with your presets. But now that you know how to export them and import them, now you have a physical digital file that you can sell to somebody.
