Today we're going to look into some stuff here with max on software, which is something I really love using they make some terrific plug ins and the two pigeons I'm really going to be focusing on is intensified pro and tonality pro now when these went live on the app store on the madcap so they actually were number one on the app store above I photo I think tonality is still up there it's that sinuous released so anyway what I'm going to do is I'm going to show some different things to do with it and the reason I like using this stuff is because it can bring out textures and stuff like that your photographs that you can not normally do so to give you an example I'm just going to open this up here I'm going to be using photo shop is my host application now these plug ins here workers stand alone I also work inside of photoshopped they work in light room they work an aperture photoshopped elements all those def in places here so I'm just opening this I'm just going to open it as a smart ...

object here social profile as a smart object and I'm able to just go directly in here I'm going to go under the filter and I'm going to get down to mac fun and we gonna get intensify pro now this tour the products here the snap hell and then there's a nice little booker effect one so let's start with intensify pro now intensified pro I love for texture just does this amazing thing and just really bringing out the character in the texture of a photograph so here's a shot that you know I shouldn't valley last year and for all intensive purposes but actually be pretty much ready to go but let's see what we can do bringing out a little bit more detail in here so one of the things we notice here is we've got the option here for presets, which is where we are right now but can create a lot of their own presets we can you kind of do those is default pre sits here and we can also set up favorite so if we want to find out favorite presets, we can do it but let's go into the adjust option here another the adjust we're going to just do some quick adjustments here. Now we've got the color temperature and basic tune here and these are you know, just as you would imagine, to fix any white balance so she was anything like that. The basic changes sits and overall exposure contrast shadows highlights just like you would having library now I'm not going to do anything with these because he's a pretty good right now we might come back to them later on indecent stuff but this is where the magic happens here is under the pro contrast, you know, one of the things that's very popular when you're working in light room and camera, roy is, you know, when we're going in there and we're just ng at clarity slider, you know, the clarity can really do a lot. Well, what I like about intensify pro is we've got basically aa lot of different adjustments that take that clarity and just break it up into really ways you can micromanage it and bring in incredible detail. So the way I generally work on here's, the highlights of the turns and shadows I just dragged them too, about the middle just to start and notices I'm doing this just dying to see some, you know, change is happening immediately on the photograph. Now you can preview before enough to buy clicking this little eye icon or just clicking on the screen there, you can see before and after, so what I'd like to do is just bring them around the middle there, and then we can start playing with the offset. Now, as we change the offset, you'll notice that we're changing at contrast here in a highlight region, so I'm just kind of looking for what looks nice here, I'm noticing if I go across here it's gonna look really good in the sky so let's, do the offset here for the mid tones notice how we can really make things changed so, you know, what I'm going to do is I'm going to focus on the sky right now we're looking at the sky and we're going to do the shadows here notice those rocks there let's make sure that these mountains or these rocks showing now we're gonna go into structure. Now we can play around the structure notice as I do that was starting to see some detail really start to pop here so in the midterms really going to see it start to open up in the sand here a lot of this texture and in the skies here we go before and after, you can still see what's starting to happen, and then we go down to the details. Now let's, get down to a d ito and we're bringing out more here we can play around a small details notice that notice this is just almost three dimensional now, obviously I pushed really far typically you're not gonna push it that far going to be a little bit more delicate with this and the lodge you can see here we can bring up those big regions of area so you have the ability to, you know, push this really far and create a faux hdr effect if you I want a lot of the time. I don't do that. So what I'll do is go into the layers here and we can see this is the before and after, you can actually bring it down and take it all the way down. So your eye calibrates to the non adjusted image and then slowly bring it up a little bit until you can get something this tasteful. So we're about there. We're looking at this before and after you can see. We're able to bring a lot more detail on image, but I'm going to show some different. I'm just going to crank this up so you can see what's going on, and maybe I might want to just the top separately, then the bottom. So the sky, you know, typically has different settings and we going to use in the bottom. So what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to grab our little tools here and masking tools. Now you have the ability with these masking tools. To either keep a certain part, weaken, grab the brush tool, and then when we start painting, everything else will disappear and the effect will only be where we paint it or we can grab the erase itto and weaken just a race away different parts of the effect. So we have the two different options. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to grab this just because I think this is just kind of really cool the way it works and notice as I stopped painting, it gets everything else out of the way, which is really nice because the options so that would be, you know, basically to create a mosque and in an invite the mosque and then stop printing it out so this way, it just automatically knows hey, because I'm painting with this tool, I want to mask everything else out and just start with the areas where in painting it in, so if you look at it right now, we've made our adjustment and you can see the adjustments affecting the sky only well, that's really neat. Well, what if we want to fix the ground in a separate way? But what we're going to do is go upto layers, click on new layer. And now we're gonna look here at the ground and then let's do some things here let's go down to a contrast here let's do the same thing we did hear by playing around with these I might push the midterms a little higher and play around this here and what we're looking at I don't care about this guy I care about what's going on in the ground here and this is actually I called it sand essentially salt so let's play around assault there notice how we can adjust the shadows you probably don't want to open up too much like that it's pulled back a little bit we can do different things there let's get down a structure in detail and I'm just doing the global we can also go into my cronut gives you muchmore fine tune control into this see that can you get really crazy? But this says all kinds of pictures and details that you can bring out very easily and we can also do the same thing in the details weaken do a global we can isolate it between the highlights in the shadows and that's nice sometimes you know when the highlights khun start too get too hot and start to flicker a little bit we can turn those off by just focusing on the shadows so we can play around those different ways see how it kind of bringing that out and then we're going to get to the micro sharpness and I'm just going to do that so right now we've got a crazy amount of detail here, but the sky is looking absolutely awful and that's ok because I was making the adjustment for the foreground, so what I'm going to do is I just need to must get the top there's two options that either grab the erase it'll and I could just a race out the sky there and it would show the the one under neath there or the other option is just to click on this one and we're just gonna copy the mosque here, so I'm going to click on copy musk getting grabbed the top one and then I'm just going to right click and then I'm gonna paced the musk so notice now got the same mask on there for the two so what we want to do now is I want to affect on lee the area if you look at the bottom, we see what affected the sky only and now the same areas being shots were going to do is invent that mask so we right click choose invert mask and boom so what have we got now? We've got the top layer now is affecting only the ground underneath and in the bottom layer is affecting only the sky, so if we look at it before and after you can see, we were able to adjust both of those independently. So this is really great. I really love the kind of difference you can get to that photograph. I mean, look at that it's just really stunning, and we can click here if we want to do the before and after, just click on their weaken, compare them and that's another way of working so there's other things you can do to, like, let me grab a layer on top, I'm just going to create one on top here and now this is going to affect all the other layers underneath, and you could do other things here say we wanted teo, I don't know if we want to add a little thing get in here says just add a little thing, you just start going down a little bit on the edges and notice that that affects it there we can change this size, and the reason I created a new layer for this is by doing it this way, it's going to affect everything underneath it, see that otherwise, if we'd applied it on to just one of these would be partially my stuff, so we can see we've got that, you know, before and after, you know, I love that, I mean, we could even go even harder with that let's go up and tell the temperature here and we could warm up the temperature a little bit if we wanted maybe put a little touch of pink in there and let's just bring capacity down so we're just going to put that in just a smidge and now we look at this before and after you can see we've really been ought to bring assault to life here so you know if we want to make a preset we just clicked create priests it and I'll call it devi for the valley click on add and in under the presets you'll see that all the presets are now available list under the custom ones there's one that we've created their underuse a presets now if you want to create your own group you can choose ad folder and I did that previously for myself calling smith I just click and drag underneath there and that becomes a preset underneath my name and notice each preset also gives us the ability to adjust the amount see that so we can blame that in and if you had that little star there that'll put it into the favorites if you look into favorites there's a dv one we just created so we could try different ones here you know the elephant seals looks real interesting doesn't look anything like elephant seals but obviously I was working on elephant seals when I created that and it's a different ones they're one of the other things I'm going to do I'm just going to cancel out of here and I'm going to show you something I really love using intensify for and then we gonna jump into tonality and that's for aerial photos. One of the things I love doing is shooting aerial photos of my court captors and when you shoot with your court corrupt as you get this incredible amount of detail like this, this is only an eight, three percent, so if I was to zoom in to one hundred percent by double clicking the icon there and I hit the h key for the bird's eye view, you can see that's how much my screen fills that a hundred percent so as you can imagine, you know, this is actually quite a large image and there's a lot of detail in this image that's not being seen let me just come on zero to fill the screen and so there's a lot of detail here that if I'm printing this out, a big panorama might get lost, but also especially from sharing this in some way like facebook or something like that, you're gonna lose aa lot of that detail so let's go into here and I'm just going to go under the mac fun, we're gonna grab intensify pro and then under intensify pro here I'm just going to really quickly just go through a few sittings to show how you can really just make this detail pop in this image so first in the news we just cover little detail in the highlights open up the shadows a little bit and just weeks on what I'm doing right now is I'm just sitting my over old just basic adjustments we could play around the vibrance of saturation and sometimes when you start opening up some detail here you might want to pull back on the situation a little bit and increase of vibrance to compensate so we'll see if we need to do that later this go to the pro contrast let's do the little trick here the three there and then we can just play around with the highlights see I'm looking at the sky there and that's looking pretty good looking that's really started to below there is beautiful and we can play around this you just got to be careful that you don't get nuclear on the colors which can easily happen but we can compensate for that later and when the shadows here we're going to offset that let's put it about there so what we've got before enough to so far there was just really making this come alive let's go into the structure to play around with some of these structure here here we go stand to see some of this texture and detail come out now and I'm going to go into the details and just quickly doing that. Notice how much detail now is starting to show. Now, if you want to get this one hundred percent, you can click on that little button there. And if I click and hold, that is without the effects, release it. That is with the effect, so you can see that the other way we could do is a little navigator toll. So we can actually change the magnification here. And we can click and drag to examine different parts of the photograph. So that's a good way for you to see how things are coming together. You can see this incredible amount of detail on there. Let's. Just go back to fit and we're going to go into the micro sharpness is and this is where you could really make this populous did one hundred percent because sharpening should usually typically be done in one hundred percent and bear in mind, too. This was just shot with the tiny, tiny little camera in my court capture. This was the dj I vision that was using for this one and we could do the masking. Well the masking does is if you pull it to the left it just affects everything as you pull it across to the right it starts to mask out certain areas of fine detail which is good if you're working and you start to get those little white specks you can do the masking and get rid of those so let me just put that back on there to fit and if we look at this you know before and after you can see how much life were able to get into their looking the sky especially and also here in these rocks they're starting to look almost three dimensional now once again I did mention if you get too much color here we can go into our basic tune here what we're going to do is take the set attrition back just a little and then pump up the vibrance just a touch and you can see now if we look at this before and after it's closer to the original coloring but we're bringing out a lot more texture that might just give it just a little touch just a boost of saturation a little there we go for it after all right? So then and in a nutshell is intent intensify intensify pro what we're going to do now is we're going to jump into tonality because I got a lot of cool stuff in here tonality pro is the newest application from make fun and now what this does is this also brings out texture, does stuff like that, but what tonalities really designed for us for doing black and white adjustments and so let's start here with picture of brooke and I shut this in my studio, and she was nice enough to pose for me doing a fitness pose, and yes, brooke is in incredible shape. Um, I wouldn't want to mess with her. Um, so what we're going to do is we're going to have a look at converting this to a black and white because really, this picture is interesting there's a lot of nice things going on in the lightness shadow, and I really did shoot this to convert it to black and white, you know, although the pink box and gloves a kind of cool but let's go here, we're going to go into tonality pro now in tonality probably have a lot of options here. Is it's going to pop up on the notice once again? It's also working on a rule a file directly so one of the things you'll notice here, we've got presets and there's a lot of different presets now, this is where this really rocks has got one hundred fifty different presets in lots and lots of different categories, so, you know, I could grab portrait and start grabbing some nice self portrait once, but for this kind of an image, this is a high impact image I'm not I mean, is she going to go for something different, like street? Because I'm actually would prefer something more kind of crunchy, grungy, you know, we've got some different options here you can see there that we can do by grabbing these different types of pre sits and you can see that there's just one click and you get all kinds of different looks, but what we're gonna do, so I'm just gonna hit the reset button and it takes it back to help watch when it was first borden and we're just going to close off the presets, and what we're going to do is look at the adjustments yourself now there's some sittings up here, too. If you look under here under the view option, I've turned on tuggle single view mode. If I turn this off, we can have multiple windows open at the same time, and that requires a lot of scrawling, so if we turn the view on with tuggle single view mode and when we go into a different panel that panel's going to serve independently, see that and that just makes it easier to do everything on screen let's have a look up here that something really interesting this is our history, graham and what the history ram you'll notice what's built in here is the zone system. So this is the ansel adams own system. You'll see this ten different tone zones, so if you really care about making things put within the zones like, maybe you want to go betweens own foreign zone five for your skin tones of whatever you can actually click on those, and they will actually highlight on screen let's, make that fits, get a little bigger, and you can actually see those zones are actually highlights. You can actually make the adjustment and force these into the different zones. This is great when you're doing black and white printing and different things like that, you just click those who turned them away, and you can see that. So personally, I like to just eyeball it, so we're going to start with the basic tone here. Now, we've got this standard, you know, under exposure and contrast, we've got the standard sittings on here, you know, which is just typical exposure settings double click to recent contrast, you know, you'll also notice that you little yellow line will show when you adjust it some, you can see exactly where has been adjusted because of that little yellow line shows your home base, but this is what I really love is under the exposure is using the adaptive so if you look at the adaptive exposure, we can open up a lot of detail but it's not blowing out the image it's not just turning it all white essentially bringing out a lot of detail we can go the other way right? We could go here and darken it but we're still not losing a detail in the midterms is protecting those says kind of interesting so maybe I'm going to bring this down I want to make this more of a kind of ah more impact at this image the next one is contrasts my contrast as you know contrast is the difference between the darkest analyze pixel in an image so we can make it very, very strong contrast or very low contrast those of the typical settings that you would normally see in contrast like this but the smart contrast if we increase this notice what's happening is once again it's protecting areas of detail and it's enabling us to do different types of things. So I'm just gonna bring this one down a little bit and we've got out highlights you know, if we want to open up that highlights and all that kind of different stuff which I'm not really going to do, I'm just going to say some blacks because I want this to be a very strong impactful image what do another one after this, where we'll look at some of the other finest sittings so now we can go into the clarity and structure here and under a clarity in structure this is where we can really make some of that details pop so we're just bringing these out we can increase that structure here so we're going for a little bit more of a ten a micro structure for a little bit and we're going to boost this so let's zoom in a little bit and see what we've got so if we go into one hundred percent here we start to look at the detail now that's coming out in her clothing here this is before and after you can see we're really starting to bring that out there so we can make this fit and we look at it before and after you can see what is starting to happen it might not be apparently obvious at first and that's one of the things you want to be aware of to when you're working with this is you've got all these different sliders that's very tempting to take every slider and push it all the way to the end and if you're not careful you can overdo your images that way so just a little bit of the time and in the neat thing about this too is we can see here which ones have adjustments because the yellow and we can turn those adjustments on and off just by simply tapping their on this little arrow so we can look at it with a without or we can choose to add those will not end those so we kind of have those adjustments the color filter now this is interesting so when you make adjustments two black and white when you're converting a color image to black of why the certain colors you know they're in the original image here obviously you know that pinks and stuff like like that that are going to just differently so we can actually click on here and we can have different types of adjustments by simply clicking here and seeing which one you like the best so you know we might this is a more neutral one that's kind of interesting you know, we've got the green when I kind of like that is pretty neat um I kind of like that just gonna watch what's happening in the face or even go down here and you can manually adjust each different color in here and you can see you know we want to open up the skin tones a little bit more we can do that and that's how we're adjusting a color now just worth mentioning too in the saturation all the colors there is actually a color image in him what it's done is it's just converted living to black and white you could literally go in here you could pull back in certain colors if you want to see that so we could actually pull a little bit of red and if you want to create a little bit of a tension there just to let you know that you could do that with the different colors but we're not going to do that we're going to move down here and what I want to do now is we're gonna put a little vignette around this but before I do, one of the things I enjoy doing is when I do stuff like color adjustments, vignettes and stuff I was creating new layer because then if I decide to do more stuff underneath and you know, painting and moscow certain areas of the photo I can do that separately so we're going to go here, we're going to grab it and yet and in this drop is create this nice dark vignette around here this change the size of what we're gonna make it smaller let's play around around this and let's feather and make it a little softer says make it even smaller now he is one of the things I like about the bin yet on here is we have the ability to move it around so we can grab the place center option and and if I click here I can actually move that see that so we can leave the center of heaven yet down and literally, you know, reposition that where we wanted to go so let's take the size a little bit bigger there and let's do the feathering and I'm gonna take that amount drop it down a little bit some trying to create just a little bit more interesting let's go back up there and you can see what we've got there, you know, before and after we're really adding quite a lot of interesting stuff to this once again you can adjust it here by adjusting the capacity so maybe we'll bring it down a little bit and we're going to create another layer on top and we're gonna do some coloring in here now he is anything about coloring is that we're going to be doing split time, so if we open up the split tone here we can actually has sign a different color to the shadows or the highlights now this process it's if you want to click on these process, you can go through these you can see how the different presets look some of those were interesting and just hit this little button on any of these panels this little arrow here we'll reset that so why don't we do this ourselves? Is this deuce? Um I don't know it's just, um blues in the highlights and I'm gonna increase the saturation now he's an interesting thing to protection here will affect this across different parts of the image, so if I go there notice only the very, very highlights are going to show let me increase it a lot so you can see and I shall bring it back to a yellow, so notice that the protection is on if I turn the protection office starts to affect the mid tones as well. So you can control how much of the highlights you want effect with this it's going to go back to the yellow and I'm going to reduce the saturation cause I don't want to be so strong and industry the shadows this grand a little green here, put a little green into the shadows and notice how that's starting to look so we can change the balance if you want to push it all the way towards the green or all the way towards the yellow, you can so you can find a nice balance in between the two there and, you know, I'm just feeling that that's a little much let's bring out saturation it's down on both of these just make a little more subtle, and then we go before and after you can see the adjustments were built to make to this image very quickly and easily, and once again, if we create a preset, we can create a preset there and we'll call it brooke. And if I'm working on any other images like that, I can use those later on once again, you know, I can play around here if I feel like the colors too much, I can do that there's also another option in here, which is interesting, too, is we got blend modes so we can actually do different things with the different blend those between the layers, too, just like you wouldn't photo shop. So if I choose color, I can just a plate the color only and in this case, I didn't do anything else but the color, but you can, uh, blame these different areas in there now. We could also locally adjust this color if we wanted, so maybe I just wanted to affect the background and not so much on brooke. I could just grab my little race a tool, and we've got the mosque. I'm just going to hit the left bracket key to make that masks on, and I could just paint that up. So if I wanted to just apply that in certain areas, we could very easily do that just by doing that and masking now, of course, you're going toe spend more time and be more precise with these masks. Here we go there's a before and after you can see them side by side or I can also grab the little tool here I'm going to grab this and I'm gonna make it smaller I'm just going to clean up the edges of those masks right now so there we go and we're just gonna grab those little bits taken kind of see how you can do that it's a lot of fun and we couldn't drop it down like that so before and after all right let's look at something else what I'm going to do here is we're now going to g o into let's show some skin stuff so we're going to open this up really quick and so we're going to do another one this is lena um and I'm just going to click the the open object we were gonna smart object so let's look at something like something more beauty and kind of glamour style here um with the same plug in we're going to go into here we're going to go into a filter and we're gonna get a make fun and we're going to get a tonality so let's go for something a little bit more glamorous so the plug in is launching right now once again it's working on a profile so there's the basic adjustment this is just you know right off the bat just converting it from color to black and white so let's have a look at the different types of process that we have available on here this eventually some nice presets on here for beauty. And if we grab these, we could go under our portrait here and let's have a look at some of the you know, these the ones that come with it so we can see here, you know, it's looking really nice there's different types of that one I don't like so much that was beautiful like that so you can see here we could just grab these presets and just apply those right away. And the other thing you could do to here, let me show something about the precept when you apply a priest's it everything has been adjusted shows in yellow so you can see on here which panels have being used any. When you open up the panels, you can see exactly which sliders have been adjusted because of the yellow. And that way you can go in there and you can tweet these yourself so it's like, hey, the anything that was moved here was highlights. You could go and use it as a starting place and you could, you know, micro tune these and get them to work exactly as you want, so as you can see a lot of different pretty sets here so what we're going to do here is I'm just going to hit the reset and we're going to close the preset and we're going to do something quickly ourselves so let's go up here under our tone and I'm going to play out the adept of exposure look at this so look is that it's so amazing how that works I just I cannot get over that's very exciting someone's going to tweak that a little bit there and I'm going to grab this smart contrast to see how this might contrast really works nicely on a glam a photo there so I could kind of go push it up just a little bit and so we've done just very small adjustments and you can see how much better is that it look already but let's go down here what I want to do is I'm going to go down to something cold glow and this glow is really cool so we turned on the glow you khun go super like you know old film style you know remember that old movie stars always kind of looked like this you could go crazy with the threshold see that I mean obviously that's too much but these will work on layers and you can apply these with different things if you go that far you could do some cool effects with them but playing around the smoothing see how we can get some different effects there and just really making that skin tone just look really glamorous so we've got before and after now sometimes when you do that you might go back under the tone here and you might want to just bring explosion down a little bit because we definitely push that up to see we're getting a really nice clamors glow they're just very quickly and easily and this is just begging for a vignette so has put a bit of a vignette around here just drop that down a little bit you know we go and you can see here you know before and after just a couple of little slides there and it looks great now if you wanted to bring out more detail and some of the other areas like maybe around here you could create a new layer and so what? We're just going to the layers here open those up clicking you layer and maybe we can try and bring out some detail here that's have a look and see what we can do so we can play around with our shadows it's open up the shadows there I know I was getting a little crazy here but don't worry about that we play around for a depth of exposure and is playing off the contrast now yes, this is obviously really really overdone but that's because we're just going to go in here and just paint in the areas we want to keep so I'm going to go down here and as soon as I start to paint here notice you can see we're standing too adjust here now you can look under here here's that mask options we can show the mask and I'll actually show you where the mask is and this different things you can do see right right now that mosque is a little much so what we'd want to do is probably just a race that up there by using the race it'll we're going to grab a brush tool and we can adjust this always take the a pass ity down let's take it down to about twenty percent and it's making nice and soft and now we can just go and just gently begin to paint this in a little bit more notice is showing the musket but it's not as red let me just don't do that and you turn off the show must and now we can just paint in those adjustments and successive passes to see that which is building it up by just painting on their bring out little detail there in their hair and you can see how we could do that now the great thing about that once again we've got the master a pass city so we can do that so all I'm doing is just time to bring out a little bit of detail there may be a little detail in here and you can see that you could very quickly have that kind of fine tuned control this it before and after so let me jump into something else let's do something completely different here let's look to bring out some texture here using tonality pro so I shut this here in central california and uh and she when I was visiting hearst castle and we're going to go down here and we're going turn on atonality pro and what we want to do is bring out some of the characters because sometimes when you get stuff like buildings and man made structures not just that but also rocks and stuff like that trees would a lot of the story there is in the textures you know, there's a riel that really is you know particularly you know stuff like I've got one of union station you can see the stairs and where the stairs one more in the middle then they are in the edges there's just just so much character and story and everything is in the texture and when that dipstick is lost we lose a lot of the story see for example here this wouldn't stop in here there's a lot of history and stuff in here so let's have a look in his bring it out so we can open a path tone here we're going to get our adaptive and you'll notice this is one of the first things I always go to two is adaptive and in order to the smart contrast I really love that I'm going to pull it up a little bit and let's go down here I'm going to push the blacks down just a touch so I've done is just here so far is just sit some basic tone adjustments now we're gonna get a clarity and structure now let's go into a clarity here we're going to just pop this a little bit and that's going to open it up a little bit and now that's going down my curse structure here and now this is when you really start to see this texture coming out see this a lot of texture there before and after you see it starting to come out now we can boost that we could get crazy with if we want you know let me get a little harder than it normally would just so we can just really see this well but you can also use the protection and this will just interactively must get out a little bit and also helps reduce that noise so if you get too much noise going on there pull that protection so let's look at this before and after now we're really starting to bring a lot of this detail out now the only problem with this is this is looking kind of cool and interesting but the water looked better before see that nice glassy water we have so what I'm going to do is I'm gonna mask it I'm just gonna grab the race a tool here now bring that one down just might be brush a little smaller using the left brake it kate and I'm just gonna paint it back here the water to help less before a little bit around there let me drop that down and we're just gonna paint that off in the background so you can see that showing now the original water so before and after some were bringing out texture and detail here but preserving their beautiful water over there that nice kind of dreamy go as the thing with the slow exposure I think it was a twenty second explosion maybe on that one all right, so let's create another layer on top we're going to jump up here, create a new layer and let's put some color on here let's do a nice split tone here and we're going to get but a nice warm kind of a tense I'm just going to do those and notice as I bring in a saturation aiken start to add that they're into our highlights and let's do this or that shadows giving a little maybe push it a little more into these colors here maybe the greens there we go and so there we go we got that before and after there you can see we're able to do that very quickly and you know, there's other things we could do here, but let's, look at something else that we could do here too there's an option here for photo frames if you wanted to put frames around it there's all kinds of frames here, you can just click these, uh, you know, let's, try that one or that one looks kind of cool, and then you can change the width of the frames like that, and you come very, very quickly. Add these kinds of effects in there too. There's another thing that's really interesting too is we've got texture overlays, so if you like to work with textures, we've got different categories. We got paper textures, we've got middle textures, we've got film textures so you can grab these textures. You, khun drop those on the top there and in this different blend must weaken turning amount up that way, or we could go opposite toe lightning and see how you get a cool little texture so before and after their we've got different blend modes, we can put him into multiply mode, you probably won't get that way if you're doing that, we've got, you know, the screen, different types of texture, modes and stuff there, so you can see how we can do that, and we could always compensate for that by just popping up our exposure a little bit player after a depth of exposure and look at this kind of effect we've got right there now you know we've gone from this to this just in a few simple clicks all right? We got more stuff to look at here so let's have a look at these these are kind of fun when I was on the same trip I went to a winery there and is the barrels there with thea the wine the grapes growing on the hill so let's have a look and see if we can put a little character here into these barrels so we're going to go down here we go grab the mic fund, go down to tonality pearl so we're just letting the plug in start all right, so here we go we're going our basic adjustment but let's have a look at the presets once again let's see if there's any process that we like in here I'm sure this point is you can see this all these different types you know, this outdoor which probably worked quite well some of the outdoor presets here that's nice. Well that's kind of cool too so you can see that we can quickly grab these so you know there's so many presets you know, I know some people use this just for the presets because it just save so much time but really, you know, the wonderful thing about it you know is if you use like an action for example it's hard to make the fine tuned adjustment specially that happened two steps ago where is with this? You know, you have the freedom in the flexibility to go back and use these att any time and you consume about these different categories of presets here so you know, we've got us dramatic ones it's looked at some of these some of the more dramatic ones here, these a cruel now one of the things I like about the presets too is if you'll notice when you roll over the precinct you'll see this little slider and with that slider you can actually a day just the amount that you want to apply so I could actually just take that much and maybe apply it there and that gives us a really nice effect let me close it down there and that's just using that pre sit there. So if we look at that, you know, before and after, you know, that's given us a really cool effect and you can see exactly on there with the yellow once again which ones have been adjusted and and which ones haven't you can see is a lot of different things on there let's hit reset now and we're going to go in and do some of our own adjustments so let's go up under our tone here, we're gonna grab our adaptive and you'll notice a certain tolls that I really like using and to the really magical tools for me that is the adaptive exposure here and this contrast, a smart contrast and a recent I love thee estelle's because there's nothing in photoshopped or camera roar or light room by default that can get the same effect on daz, something that I'm really big on. I've been using photos up for close to twenty years, and if the stuff I can do in photo shop, I don't really use plug ins for so that's why I love these plug ins because I can do stuff in here that I can't do in photos up alone, so I just love that and it just look at the amount of detail texture I can bring out in this stuff. I get very excited because I'm really big on textures, I love textures, and you can see we can play around these let's get about clarity, let's, give it a little crunch there, look at that before, and I have to see how these barrels of just really something really cool to give a little stuff there's pull some protection up micro structure, and now look at the wood here before and after, let me zoom in one hundred percent and if I go and he can see, you know, there's a lot of texture coming out in here, you can even see our christmas lights there and let me seem that out a little bit. So there's a details coming out in this wood, this is before, you know, before and I just really changing that image does too little protection here's play around, got some cool stuff, let's go to color filter and do something fun with this too it's going to the sexual relation and we're gonna bring up the reds a little bit, so what I'm going to do some reds and yellows probably will get it and bring out a little bit of the color see that in those barrels this is before and after. Now I don't like what's happening in the background, so I'm just gonna mosque that out really quickly and by the way, also in unmasking, you have the ability to do a grating it. So if you wanted to, you know, just use a grady into musk stuff that you could see anyone going to do that, I like it in the sky just not up here, so I'm just gonna take it out there and I'm going to keep that detail in the sky just clean that up a little bit, maybe making big here we go all right, so we've got that here we go before and after started bringing out a lot of cool things we got other options if the lynns blur so let's create a little bit of a depth of field here we're going to increase this I'm just gonna put all the way up just so you can see what's happening and I can choose the place center so if I want to place my focus here notice now it's starting to fall off a little bit so we can play around with the different radius is you know, if you wanna have a very narrow area of focus you khun, drop the radio's down white area focus increased radio see how that falls across so this is going to kind of simulate what it's doing right now is I'm simulating, you know, shell a different field on my camera so we could kind of do that now if I was going to do this of course I'd have to paint back in here because I need to get our depth of field on the background there now that we kind of playing around that and you can see, you know, probably bring the amount down that's a little exaggerated but there we go before and after now we're really kind of creating that nice differ field effect something to do another image here where we can combine some of these different things you know he is one another one of lena and this was a fun lighting experiment so she's lip, you know, in the front by a little speed light and a sham era up the bucks and what was the octo beauty bucks? You know, you can actually see it up here and in the rim lighting and stuff is by the car so it's kind of doing a little bit of practical, like mixed with some light here said that her face and body is eliminated so let's have a look and see what we can do with this when we pop this into black and white and they were going to make fun and we gonna grab tonality pro so we're opening it up here and so let's just do some quick adjustments I'm going to do some quick ton adjustments here let's grab our favorite adept of here I'm kind of liking it about there and play rough a smart look at this isn't it amazing? The diff but you can give it that smart contrast. I mean, if you really want to bring out the details to a faux hdr good that way or you want to create this dreamy soft effect go the other way so I'm going to go a little bit towards the hollywood side of things here so we just call this hollywood and let's play around that mid tones your current doctor knows off a little bit take him down a little bit all right let's bring it a little bit of clarity and structure I'm not going to get too carried away with that on this particular image I'm going to get just a little touch of clarity and maybe a touch of micro structure just bringing us some detail and I'm just going to leave it there now we're going to go down here and we're gonna play around first of eleven yet so it's to a very, very dark than yet knows we can't drop the size down and when we'll change this later I'm just changing the shape of it maybe a little bit there and a feather see we could make a very soft or very hard so I'm just going to go there for now and I'm going to place the center of it about their so notice I'm moving it over maybe a little too far this spring in there and now what we can do is adjust the amount of that then yet and we can change the size see that and this play around without round this I kind of liking it there and let's make it softer so you see what we're doing is we're just really bringing emphasis and twelve model there's this is before and after and occult thing about this is why we're experimenting this is completely nondestructive which means I can change my mind at any time. The other thing that happens to sometimes when you're doing a vignette, you feel like this stuff in the middle, you wish it was a little brighter and is a luminosity slider in here, I'm not going to use it on this, but I love this slider and I'd love to see this kind of thing in light room, actually, because it's really useful, so even give it just a little touch, all right? So the next thing we're going to do now is we're going to go and we're going to do a little lens blur as well, so I also want to just blew up the background and just focus in on a model lena, so I'm going to turn the the blur all the way up let's make a very, very small radius for now, and I'm going to make that transition very hard to just makes it easy to see what's going on for now, so I'm going to grab this, I'm going to drop it right on in face, so now we're going to increase the radius and we go and we can play around that transition now make it a little faster transition, and we can play around the amount now that we've got it sit, we can see what's going on so see how it kind of blurs out the rest of the stuff in the background and we'll get this before and after we've got this very, very bright image of a lot going on not sure where to really look and now we're just really focusing and I went on a model we're not even seeing a soft box there anymore and let's see what else we can do this two other things I'm going to do here I'm going to create a new layer, we're going to go under layers and I want to do just a little bit of color treatment now, so let's go here, we're gonna grab a split tone effect we're gonna go in there a split toning and this time is do something a little bit more modern I'm going to do like a blue in the highlights there we go and then in the shadows here let's trade just try ridden to see how that looks not so much this go across here let's go more to like a greenish blue aqua kind of a color give a little more saturation there we go that's looking nice and we can play around that balance to see what we want to bring that and you know, if we look at that before and after I'm I'm kind of liking that I think we got a pretty good result there now there's other things we can do if we want to zoom in a little bit, let me show you another thing that can be done on here. And that is you know, this is a very, very smooth, which I don't mind. But I just want to show you here if you want to be grain, you also have the option to add grain here so we can increase that grain here and you can see there. In fact, usually you want to get about one hundred percent to really see what's going on that grain structure and let's bring it down a little bit. See, you can control how much grain is in there to just give it a little touch of grain. We can make that grain soft or harder notice that's very soft. Ege and ah hardage let me increases. You can see a bitter see that is a softness and harness. It emulates different types of film. So if we want to make it look like you know we were shooting this, you know, let me play around the contrast. Maybe there may be a little more like, you know, if I shooting maybe an s o eight hundred or something like that, you guys remember that? Well, we're sitting him film we'll get kind of something a little bit more like that and it kind of looks a little bit like the kodak eight hundred's I used to shoot all right so let's fit this on here and we can see you know we have to do the before and after all right? So I think we've got time for one more image and uh because but definitely a lot of stuff to show here I think for the last image I'm going to go in here I'm going to bring a little bit of the calico ghost town feel in here so this is the end and if you've ever been to calico ghost town it's a really cool spot for shooting especially when you get there at this time of the day when there's no tourists because there's a million tourists everywhere kind of ruins it a little bit s so what we're going to do here is we're going to go under the intensifier tonality pro certain we can open it up here and let's have a look at a different category maybe have some more presets here so whatever kind of the presets and what I want to do here is this pup these open I'm going to go under some of that vintage presets and see what we can get here you know? We've got an antique plates see now this is donna look cool civil war I mean yeah I remember that I remember this place back in the day well it's not that old but see how you can make your photographs also have that kind of old look to them you know we've got all these different you know we got dusty film we've got all kinds of pre city let's try some different ones here first photo for gotten dreams well there's just beg a fearsome compositing work there in your cowboy riding on a horse coming in here right now we got a ll these different types of a great great depression that's depressing one did it all right camping right love historical photo way got noisy film old faded see that we've got all these kind of different things here so that's kind of interesting to that actually you can see the different textures and stuff coming in on there and uh tim type wild west all right like a wild west so why don't we have looking at wild west one here and I'm just going to just down here heidi presets and let's see what we did here we're going to go under the texture overlay because I can see a big part of this is the texture and what if we want to just change the texture on this so we can take these kind of presets that we've got already and we could just tweet these presets like maybe change the amount there you can see that's kind of looking cool maybe the grain maybe want to do something the grain maybe put more grain in there we can see under a tone here got some different stuff on him so that contrast what if we lower that contrast a little bit and maybe grab ara death of exposure and make it look a little bit more you know, there we go and in its brian it off a little bit so we can kind of create one of these kind of interesting vintage effects there so you can see how we can go in there even though we've already got these neat presets we can go in and we can start to tweak these manually and make different adjustments to ourselves so you know, sometimes you might want to just start with the preset and then go in and in tweak it or you might want to just go from scratch so I think you know there's a lot of different things of showing you in here and, you know, there's a lot of different things you can do and it's a lot of fun. So colin take a couple questions absolutely it's good for all right? We have a couple here so this could be a little bit of a review but martin said I don't see intensify pro on the apple store is there a difference between pro and the standard version yes, actually that's that's good question so intensifies on the app store and so is tonality around the app store and those air standalone applications so you're you can download those and you work on your photos a stand alone if you want to use them as the plug ins, then the plug ins of the pro versions and those work is plug ins and photoshopped like room aperture photo except you're ok, another question came in how about the feature? Okay, the question is what features change when editing a j peg versus a camera raw image in tone ality pro on the features don't really change, but what happens is when you're working on a camera or file verses a j pig is obviously got sixteen bit file, so right now this is working in sixteen bit mode while that's in a pit image there shows up here, we'll show you there, but you could be working a sixteen, but when you're working in a camera plus it has a lot more dynamic range, so that means that when you're going in there and you're bringing out there detail in those highlights and detain the texture, the raw file has a lot more detail in this I mean, you look at an image j peg in a row file might look similar in a surface, but once you start trying to recover detail the j peg. It disappears really fast. Where is the camera? Was just so much detail on it is heidi.
