Class Introduction
I am so excited to be here. I woke up, I actually met the j star primes for breakfast this morning, and I told him that I was so excited, but I woke up like at four o'clock in the morning, like in an absolute panic, a sheer like adrenaline rush, and I was just like way, okay, today's a day, we're fine, I'm fine, and I was like, ok, I'm really not fine, I did not want to get out of bed, but everything actually was the catalyst is the thing that I know that I'm not doing it alone, so I want to thank you guys for being here. I want to thank the amazing creative team that's coming along to help disseminate this information because the last thing I want is to make people think that I'm sitting up here, acting are talking like there is one way or that I know how to do it or that I'm the best or there's a right way because all of those things are ms numbers. I'm excited to bring along a great resource of editors and just talk about my experience, but before we get there before we start talkin...
g about the business stuff, I just want to see thank you, too. Everybody who is watching online so if you brought your sack lunch and you're walking from here, you're watching from your office holla like it's so good we know you're watching it work I get I get pictures of people who really won't put it on social media, but they'll send me they're watching the other ipad at work or their phone and so when their boss comes in it's like throwing a mac it's like apple h so you hide all of your your screen and you're like, oh, I'm totally working totally working, but you're not seeing what works specifically jolla thank you for being here to the mamas who got a baby sitter and we're having a baby said their babies watch today thank you. I really appreciate you as making those sacrifices and for the husbands who are watching those babies thank you. I totally appreciate the husbands and wives I mean these air spoke next houses who are working and running businesses, but thank you, I really appreciate it. I do get e mails after the show saying that you know a spouse will be watching and they won't be listening to headphones so they're exposed the other spouse has to listen to my annoying voice all weekend, so to that spouse I'm sorry but thank you very much dio on dh to those who are skeptically watching I just want to know toe let people know that I want people just to walk away with one thing I don't expect people to walk away with hundreds of new or groundbreaking ideas this is simply to take away one thing that will radically change your business. So if that's what you're coming into this course with this idea that one thing can be accountable for what you want in the future because I don't want your business looking the same at the end of three days, I want you to say I have a new set of goals that I will achieve, and once you set those goals and you achieve them on your own, I think that your business will change as a byproduct of it. So enough talking about me, I want to go opportunity to introduce these amazing six people who are troubled all over the united states and canada, you know, canada represent, I think what I would love for you guys to do is I want people to get to know you guys and he don't want us to be shy because right now you guys are like all sitting here like, completely quiet and like, where do those people go? The people that know what we're sitting at breakfast with? Where did you guys go so let's bring it, I waited to state your name where you're from your twitter handle because that would be great for people to connect with you online ask you questions to ask me questions off camera or whatever you know get get the skinny we'll start here with ashleigh that's okay so your twitter handle anything else interesting you want people to know about you is totally cool talk a mme I'm a mother of three beautiful little girls on dh um photography is my career everything that I do so um I live in canada I'd like to say that I live in vancouver but I don't live in a little town outside of vancouver so um yeah I'm super excited tio hi michelle my twitter handle is at love mikola and that's spelled an I c l a and I am from jersey city needs new jersey right outside of manhattan so as she says she's from vancouver I say I'm from new york on dh aspen my cat and polo are secretly on a date I know just getting one thing that didn't make it into my submission video is hi mom I'm britney my twitter handle is at britney lauren underscore don't forget that underscore and I'm from portland, oregon so right near seattle yeah and yeah that's and I think I'm the youngest one here on the baby so healthy I'm twenty two almost so for all of those people out there that are my age thinking they can't do this because they're too young and people won't take them seriously you can do it just keep going and you know how old you are I just wanted you to come out and say it so people are mine kid find identities within all of you guys like commonalities and stuff like that so thank you for me george wearing a cowboy is my boots my name is john kane sergeant my twitter handle is at john kane sergeant and I'm from dallas, texas but more importantly I am the proudest member of the fight in texas aggie class of two thousand eleven I love getting tease a little bit very being from texas but I'm really excited to be here also and I gotta follow that my name is mark my twitter handle is at mrk and bmg it's my name without the vowels because valves are overrated and uh um so I do photography on obviously and I do have a full time job that I also do photography and without them knowing uh all time is your best friend on I just wanted to thank jasmine star and everyone for allowing us to be here is really great and uh don't stop believing it's terrible and I like it way made a group on facebook and you don't stop don't stop believing wow ok it's clutch that such okay money was actually barnett I'm from uh, portsmouth, virginia, which israel ghetto? So I say I'm from virginia beach, virginia, and my twitter handle is a barnett photo and that's a b a r n e t t photo and I say I say it only has been wonderful so far few minutes he had with you, but also these guys are awesome picked it awesome group and we really do feel like world the real world, like six strangers. You picked the o e want the trailer done sunday, you know? Well, I'm so excited, you guys. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. And with that, I'm going to get into the formal introduction of the class just I know, I know they didn't have that up. That was just that was a lot of time at home working on that little thing right there. Well, in the I was, like, can I had mentioned earlier in the course? I was given the absolute amazing opportunity to come to creative live in two thousand ten. It was one of their first courses to teach specifically about wedding photography, and in that course, we showcased how I actually shot a wedding. So, you know, chase jarvis and craig swanson pitched this crazy idea, and it was to literally plan a wedding in four weeks and shoot a live wedding with a real couple and have it broadcast on the internet and I didn't know really what I was getting into but I totally agreed because I was just like why not? I think in retrospect it was like I wish somebody would have shaken me violently but at the end of the day that's totally fine because I think what we walked away with was this great opportunity to really dissect what happens on a wedding day it isn't always perfect and yes, I make mistakes but I think the larger picture was that a lot of people I learned from it and they probably learned what not to dio that's totally okay, I mean, that was absolutely amazing and I think that we talked about a lot of specifics about how you approach it, how you deal with clients actually on the day of a wedding the gear that I used that was kind of like a global idea of the how my men in two thousand eleven I came back last year and we will actually build the foundation to what we should be doing is how we built a business and we offered a foundation of how people should approach it in regards to marketing in regards to practicing your craft, connecting with other people in creating an online identity so that is what happened last year and this year based on those two courses andi if you've been with us since since two thousand ten I think it would be such a cool thing was if you watch the first course and if you want a second course you're now at a point in your business or I'm going to challenge you to shake things up I really think that if you have come this far now you're ready to have your work be seen and having your work we seem to be in two different forms primarily could be through print or online so if you're at that point and wherever you are in the spectrum even if you're a first year and you're already thinking about that that's amazing maybe you're learning curve will be much shorter than my learning curve because you are learning from other photographers and also the social dynamic within the industry has changed so much we're going to get into that but when I first started and now I feel like old hag ridley yo photographer when I started back in the day my photo days we'll back you know back in two thousand seven like wedding photography blog's were not as prevalent as what they are now you know, blogging in general in two thousand six really was such like a newer type thing, so the opportunities for photographers to get featured are so are so much more enhanced and now so that should be an exciting thing for photographers so based on all of those elements in two thousand twelve we're going to be focused on getting published now are any of you guys hot? Are you guys warm or is it just me because I'm like I'm like nervous I wanna get nervous like my body temperature rises just naturally but I'm just like I just want to make sure because I probably will ask to turn on the air and if you guys are freezing like bring jackets because I am like hot I'm like having a menopause moment right here can we and there are anybody can we get the air on anybody ok sorry ok actually nico I know you can hear me nico if you could just put the air on that would be fabulous okay, so those people behind the scenes so you'll hear me talking to invisible people behind they're going to take your stuff I actually want to start this course with this claimer and that disclaimer is that this particular course will be particularly enraged driven so I don't want anybody thinking that I was showing a lot of my imagery to showcase what I do beside any with anything besides the intent of merely documenting what happened and how it happened I don't want people thinking sitting at home thinking oh she's just showing her stuff because she thinks she's the bomb I think it's actually completely the opposite I really want to use thes tio dissect progression. How I moved from my first year of business into my sixth year business, which is where I am now. And I think that they really help outline my class. So if there's anybody home who thinks I'm showing too many images, I'm sorry. We can adjust things as we go. But this is this is what I did. So if you don't like it, you can stop looking.

Thank you so much Jasmine! You are such an inspiration. I so appreciate that you showed us everything, not just the perfect edited version! I love that you are real and can show that you get flustered and make mistakes and lack confidence sometimes... I can so relate to you but still be inspired to push myself further! You are so amazing and determined and I admire you so greatly! Do not EVER change... you are perfect the way you are! You have given me so much to work through... my mind is buzzing. (:
