Introduction

Hi, My name is Lisa Carney and welcome to mobile photography, creating black and white images Using light room mobile, you can find me on B hands and instagram in the usual places, and I am an avid light room mobile user photographer and re toucher. And you can reach me anytime with any questions at Lisa. Lisa carney dot com Really, any time. So let's talk about this class and what it is designed for and who it would be good for. So this class is all about using light room mobile to create black and white images. Now this could be for anybody beginner to advance, because we're really talking about the process of creating black and white imagery using light room mobile. And I use some old world old film techniques, but with the digital camera that I now call the digital darkroom of light room. So from beginner to advance, this class probably will have something for everybody. And I'm really talking about editing anywhere, and when I mean anywhere, I honestly mean anywhere. While I'm out...

in the field, I will be shooting through light room Mobile Yes, shooting through light room mobile. I'll talk about that. It's just a little bit and processing on the go. And that way I know I have my shot. So this way I can do some quick edits on my phone immediately and know if this is working for me. So that being said, this class is not prescriptive. And what I mean by that is I'm not gonna say Click tap a tabby tap, see to get this result. What I want to talk to you about is really the machine of light room mobile and how it works so that you can actually get your looks and get an image that looks the way you want it to look from anywhere. And I do mean anywhere. So let's talk about landscape macro portrait travel, pets, all of these genres. This medium is useful for and again, it's all light removal. So this there are a few shots I took while I was in Cuba just to show you some demonstration of some of the work I've done. And I think black and white is so evocative and really allows some pretty amazing storytelling and portraiture. Macro, The thing I find is for black and white imagery. It's somehow I don't know, kind of clears the palette and I'll ask the story to really shine through. So I shoot whatever is at hand. I love shooting my pets. I love my chickens, my dogs. With these days of covid, we're kind of our world is a little more insular now. And so we shoot what's available to us and there's magic Could be found. Even my dogs. I shoot a lot of dogs.

I have always loved black and white photography and so many of the other courses I have taken on Creative Live touch on black and white but it is never as in-depth as I would like it so I was very excited to see this course offered in Lisa's mobile series. I love how explains the black and white presets you can shoot pictures through in the LR camera, the profiles and then the presets in post. Her knowledge of light and how color adjustments even on a B&W photo affect how that light is shown is very informative. This course finally gave me more detailed knowledge and inspiration to do so much more with my B&W pictures. Thank you for another great class!

This is one of the BEST classes on Creative Live, and I have a Creators Pass and have taken tons! As a retired teacher I really appreciated Lisa's teaching style and the clear use of tech aides (circle, highlights etc) to lead me through the steps used on LR mobile. Her clear descriptions make the class easy to follow. I have also used LR mobile for several years and learned at least 3 new things in the first few minutes! In addition Lisa's in-depth knowledge of BNW and how to apply the principles of BNW to color conversions was wonderful. I have shot BNW for years in film and digital and also taught darkroom at the college level (ages ago) and Lisa's teaching and skills rank up there with the best. I learned even more the second time through and will come back to this class frequently and grab any others that Lisa Carney teaches. Highly recommend!
