Lydian Mode
OK. Next is Lydian. This is the fourth one. So we're taking the fourth note of the scale and using that as the new root note. So in C major, the fourth will be 1234, this F and we're just playing this note from F to F in C major. So we're really just shifting the root note. So onion is one do is two frig in is free and now Lydian is four. Another way to think of Lydian is to just sharpen the fourth. So you'll notice in F major there's this B flat but an F Lydian as an F natural, that's because we just sharpen the for, for a lium. So if we're changing a major scale into a Lydian, we're sharpening this B flat into A B and to change a minor scale into a Lydian, all we need to do is sharpen the third, sharpen the fourth, sharpen the six and Sharpe in the seventh. And now if we play this back, the Lydian mode is quite a bright nice major sounding mode. That's because it's very similar to the major scale. OK. And next, we're gonna have a look at the Mixolydian mode.
