"Getting to know you" Exercise
We did some kind of quick introductions in the beginning right during the pre show and that just, you know, actually it's kind of a left brain thing like, who are you what's your web site, right? Or what's your handle, just the data, right information, which is important because that we need to know your name and it's good to know where to find you, this is going to be an exercise where we're going toe tap into our right brain a little bit kind of get you guys warmed up, and for those of you at home, you can participate in this to be a chat, I'll be asking a question here and you can type it in and chat, but we'll be doing kind of experiential here because we can and have some goodies for you guys, if you guys can stand up and we're going to be doing intros using metaphor and awesome or they might be similarly is like, you know, my english high school english teacher would probably be upset because I'm mixing metaphor and simile, but you guys understand, but you're going to introduce y...
ourself, you know, my name is we hear your name again and then if your business were a metaphor, so you know, if your business wass, you know, animal a color, a place of food whenever a song you know what would it be and why? Because and then finding a physical movement are gesture help with that okay um so some examples might be like massage therapist might be you know, um my business is like an ocean breeze because I soothe the soul something like that and to help with that we've got these fancy beautiful scars here so please come and see what inspires you and pick out a color you can take tio way a son. So do you like to start? Sure. Okay. So you so you say your name again and you can follow this you know, my business is a blah blah blah because then I'm just going to think on the fly here and then like what kind of physical movement to go with it if you're on it and use the scarves with it or not. Okay? All right my name is nathan freakin and uh if my business were so should I choose one place for all of those just this these are examples if it's just for like hawaii because yeah I mean so my business is creating an online community and providing a resource is media rich resource is for people who are in any stage of divorce right? So that's a really tough subject it's gritty on a lot of people feel very alone and my business is to give them some hope some inspiration and help them come out through the other side club so I guess I don't know I see kind of like mountain climbing rope climbing so I picked these like, you know, green grass and blue the sky kind of like nature climbing a mountain I picked purple because I think it appeals probably mostly or more women than men although I hope a lot of guys get involved because you know, we need help two s o like an animal maybe a mountain go oh, yes you can actually just pick one so it could be he said mountain climbing like we're going toe kind of bottom line it and make it like ok, so my business is like mountain climbing because I help people reached new heights or something like that and so okay, this doesn't need to make sense we don't need to like wordsmith it okay? See so on dso actually, what I have love for you guys to do is just actually go for the metaphor first like not a lot of back story about what the businesses because this will actually tap into it in a different way. Okay, yeah. All right, so my name's rebecca stump and if my business were like a sky it would be one that has lots of different shapes and types of clouds and it's constantly changing that's why I picked these colors because you know, sometimes this guy is just very simple like this, but sometimes it has lots of other different colors right on. And I picked that metaphor because I do photography and I love sharing people stories, getting to know people through photography. So so that's why? I said it would be like a sky with lots of clouds, and I guess maybe my motion would maybe just be, like, holding them above you will on. I like that engine started lands with this guy. Nice. Yeah, yeah, we can do that alone. Great. Francis. Okay, so right, brain engage. My name is francis arnold. And if my business were a swami, it would be a swami because because I think salamis are really carrying about the whole population, they care about all beings and everybody being free from suffering and and that's, really, my big reason for doing what I do is that I care so deeply about people avoiding suffering that's avoidable. And when we do go through suffering that we can resolve it with strength and so what's your physical gestures, physical gesture would be, you know, I don't know why, but I just wanted to world just twirling, twirling and also spinning around thank you, great fix, caitlin, my name is caitlin calling and if my business were a person, it would be a chef because I like to take all the different ingredients that people give me about themselves maybe think they don't like and put them all together to make a wonderful meal nice, so maybe like other ways maybe different colors that maybe you don't like yellow, but we put it in there and it tastes good I'm kathy day and if my business were food, it would be more because they're so delicious they have all the different textures of life itself direction directed action where you're you know nathan may have a different reason of this more peanut butter cup, plain chocolate or whatever they promote connection, so to the good things in life like you usually have them around the campfire and you're hanging out nature being with friends like kind of connecting with the stuff that matters like sharing stories um and I think the action would be, um so this will be the fire, right? And then if you guys are all cool way very much afraid of fire, like within each of us and like seeing that way in each other's eyes thanks, kathy j aboutthe cappie thiss my name is kathy scrabble, and if my business were a flower um it would be I don't know I have a hard time nailing down I think that's fine let's say a beautiful flower gerber daisies on dh because I love all that pattern in the color and the shapes and the fragrances and I guess my gesture might be kind of intertwining all of those nickel things and coming up with this new shape our new color cool yeah yeah my business is like a warm cup of tea because it call mes and nourishes yummy I like that I have a whole o moloch moloch may ma this is if my business where it was an animal it would be a phoenix because of the idea of rejuvenation and enlightenment and the gesture would be soaring nice nice I have my name is alaska hamiti and my business is like a butterfly it is on this's like a butterfly because I hope people can fly out of there every day and allow the possibilities I'm an artist wow nice and we have rita rita who says my name is rita and my business is a kaleidoscope representing the myriad of ways people can expand explore and experience their inner and outer voice you guys are off theo visuals coming in here my name let's see my name is jesse langdale if my business were river it would be clear and always in fluid motion it would be like a serpent through the land reaching all kinds of people and different experiences I'm a photographer change but want to make jewelry to knife really cool. Maybe one more. Yes, sure. Lou shack, who says my name is lou? My business is like a child playful, exploratory living toe love every moment discover and unfold amazing potential and joy, good stuff coming in. Very beautiful. The thing I love about doing the intros in this ways, it probably gets to the essence of what people, our passion about what they're doing in their business, right? And we get to experience you in a different way, like the movement is like new insights that come in right instead of just the eye my name is, and my business is x y z, so use that metaphor as a foundation, and the metaphor may shift like I had somebody wants who did a workshop and she's like pumpkin. I don't know why, pumpkin, just like I don't like it, but whatever, and she kind of went with it, and I forget what it morphed into later on, you know, in the workshop, but it helped propel her to a new, you know, perspective around her business. But as we go through, you know the workshop, and as you continue to get to know each other, that could be someplace to comeback teo and expand on that.

This is one of the best classes I've taken on creative live. I'm trying to start a business while also juggling a time consuming day job. Jennifer makes the process simple & fun, and opens you up to the vision you are trying to create with your business plan. It's been an exciting challenge for me and I feel like I'm going to actually going to achieve what I set out to do because of this class. I love that the sections are bite sized so I can spend a half hour a night on this and make progress over time. Thanks for your right brain approach to business Jennifer!

When I first realized that I wanted to walk the path of an entrepreneur, starting a business seemed like it would be an impossible venture. But Jennifer Lee's method helped me work through each piece of the process in a way that felt fun and exciting. That being said... when I bought the book, I had no idea what kind of business I would ultimately build, so I didn't get through it all. When I bought this course, I had the same issue at first. But roughly every 6-10 months, I returned to them both to revisit my vision and add new pieces that would ultimately land me where I am today. As I'm writing this review, I am in the process of filming the first round of content that will be offered on my digital fitness studio site. For the first time ever, I made it to the end of this course! I already had a plan in mind. But this helped me get it all down on paper and it even prompted me to do more research into my "competition/creative cohorts" to see what the possibilities for my business are down the line. I'm more excited than ever to dive in and soft launch my site this fall, so that come 2021, it will be optimized to give community members the kind of fitness programs they need. Thank you so much Jennifer!

This course is clearly changing people's lives - the energy that's created by so many people realising that yes, they can get their heads round creating their own business (and one that works) - and have fun too! Thanks Jenn - and thanks to the Creative Live team too - you've given Jenn a great platform where she can really help a lot of people move forward guiding their own futures.
