Using the Images After the Shoot
Can you just clarify again in terms of the process that if people were doing this on their own, So you're having people were about to see, um, go to your web site with a link that takes you to your SmugMug site. They don't have Teoh create a SMUGMUG account just to view them right? Or do they correct? Anybody can go to my website, so I'm gonna actually go to my website. Can we see this now is the You know we are. Okay. Good. Um so if I go to my SmugMug account, which is just here, if I hit the recycle button, it's going to start pulling in all of the images that we've been working on here. I haven't logged in because this is just a Web page and I'm publishing to that Web page automatically, which is very cool. I like this looks great. If I click on here, I can see the full image, and I could comment on it. So I click on here, put some comments on, Say, see, it says you must log in tow, leave comments, so it's gonna ask you to log in, but it's a free log and you just have to create a pa...
ssword or account. But you don't have to log in to see it, or I can give you options. So inside a SmugMug, every event or every gallery can be given different options. So I could I could say this event. Anybody can download the full file and take it home with him. So I do that on charity events all the time. Any time you do a charity event you're not after selling prints your it's a charity. Your goal is to give people great service because they just gave money to a cause that you believe in. Am I right? Yes. Okay, so on a charity event, you're going to post the files and you're going to give a full download to anybody that wants it, Period, no questions asked. If you do anything different than that, you're no longer in the charity classification. Now you're making money off people who you shouldn't be making money off. That's myself. Box. But anyway, what's cool is that you can You can also just share out toe Facebook from there, which is what I just did as we're doing this live. I shared an image of John to his Facebook page. Yeah, thank you. So I love the idea of sharing to Facebook. What a great way to do. It's such a great place. It's already. Everybody has it. Everybody's using it. I mean, from your SmugMug. I shared it. Oh, you did? But yeah, you So then. So Because I've gotten people to come to my website, which is an easy place to find it, it's actually easier to find it on there than it is to find it on Facebook. Um, just Goto Platt started. Feed out biz forward slash creative life, and they go there. They can choose any image they want. They can share it out. They could print it taken by a print of it if they want to. Any time I'm doing a charity event where someone wants to buy prints, I'll just put him at the absolute bare minimum price. So whatever it costs me to get it to him, that's what they'll pay for it. So if it's a four by six print and it's going to cost me a dollar 38 to get it printed and then they'll pay for shipping and they've got the print right. Okay, so, um so that's how they're going to view it on the web. So now we go back to light room once we have our images. So I think we're done shooting at this point, and we've got all of our images in here, and we've got him selected, and we have the 12 megapixel file in there, so let's go to our camera. Turn it off. I'm gonna open up and grab the SD card. The SD card is what we had the full five sized file on it, right? So I The reason I choose to put the full file on the SD card is because my laptop has an SD reader in it. So the one that's transferring automatically, I do it from the card that doesn't have a connection to my laptop, and then this one, I put this in here. This has all of my full sized raw images on it. And so now if I want to and there's photos pops up, it's like an unwanted guest. Okay, so, um, I'm gonna hide everything and take a look at this SD card inside The SD card is all of our photos that it's all of our photos Just double check their they are seeing just like that. So now if I take all those photos and I go into my pictures folder into the CREATIVELIVE folder that we created, which is right here, there's the event in the raw folder and you can see that this is the Joans wedding, and then the Joans wedding has a bunch of raw images right there. So now if I go in and I highlight inside of the Joans wedding and I put full raw in there now I'm gonna take all of my images that were full. Ron, I'm just gonna take may be the last couples so that we don't spend much time, you know, waiting for him. And I'm gonna bring in all of my full raw images into the into the computer. Now, once I'm in here, I'm gonna go back up to the folder not to the collection, but to the folder. I'm gonna go to the John the Joans wedding. Where is it? Right there? Because that's where they are. And I'm gonna right click that folder and I'm going to synchronize the folder. So there's the CIS synchronized folder. When you click on Synchronized, the folder says that there's 11 new photos to import and I'm gonna hit Synchronize See, that's looking for those. Aiken, Add my key words here and now remember the key words. They're not going to be on these photos. The key words were imported here from our camera and they were added on the way in. But these photos of the same photos but they don't have the key words on him because I'm importing him as new. So I'm gonna import these photos in a completely different folder. Um, I'm gonna hit import. Here's the full raw images right here. So there's a full raw image right there. See that? Now I can look at all of them next to each other. If I click on the frame photos, I only see the small rahs If I click on the full raw folder, I only see the full rahs if I click on the Joans wedding folder. I see both side by side. So I see this one and then I see this one. See that? So if I click on this one, let's go to the one I really loved. So if I see this one here All right, then I see this one here. They're the same file ones just bigger and ones untouched. So if I go into the develop module, I'm looking at this one, and I go to the next one here, and I hit previous and wait. See that? So the changes that happened to the 1st 1 here happened to the 2nd 1 here, but it's just a really big file, so it just takes a while for it. Turn, That makes sense. But it's the same pixels, just more of them. But they're all in the same places. So if you've done any work to your images than whatever you did during the shoot to the small is going to then be done to the big same file got it. So that is the process of tethered shooting from start to finish both, and I'll just kind of recap here. So remember, we talked about our, um tethering. So we told the camera that we're shooting 22 cards was shot small rock toe, one card, big raw to the other card. We tethered the small raw by choosing by pointing to the card that had the smaller on it came into the camera. Our men into the computer. Once it's in the computer, it goes in through the tethered shooting. It goes to a particular folder you choose. And then at that point, either by automatically putting it into a specific collection or by hitting the Beaky and sending it to a target collection, we were able to put it into a collection. That collection was either than synchronized Delight Ra Mobile that we did earlier, and we were actually working with it so that we could edit comment online or we could edit on our IPad or if we're in a live situation like this and we want to work with existing people and they're moving around, were lighting it, and we want to show it at a time. Then we set up a to monitor situation. We shoot. We turn off that auto advance function inside of of light room, arm inside of tether shooting, so that we get to choose what they see, and we have an operator here at Thea. At the computer, he chooses the image. Make sure that all the information is sink over all the settings. So remember we adjusted it first, and then we sink those settings over to the new images, and then we show them we can pick them. And then all the while, all the while we're continuing publishing out to a published service and that goes to SmugMug. People can see it on SmugMug could go to Facebook. And then once you're done, whether it's on a client, shoot or alive shoot like this. Um, once you're done, then you're gonna take the original raw images, put them into the same job folder and then use them as necessary. Most of the time, you don't need to use them, but on a big photo shoot, if you're going to billboard or something, then you're gonna need that original raw

Mind blow! This was a great course and Jared explained in detail and with great clarity a comprehensive approach to using a Lightroom workflow that collaborates with multiple software platforms. Lots of "A Ha" moments. I think I can actually do this now where I didn't have a clue how to make this all work before.
