Blog and Social Media Marketing
I make no qualms with my love affair with marketing there are people who think there is and I believe I subscribe to the fact there is artisan ship and there's creativity is what we do but I have come to believe that if I do not run an effective business well I really have is a really expensive hobby so ah business will be the driving force and as much as people don't want to hear it what I do as a successful entrepreneur is eighty percent business and twenty percent shooting and when I started my career I really thought at minimum it would be eighty percent shooting and twenty percent business but that is way that is the way it works in so many different types of facets when it comes to the creative world. Now I want to start off by simply defining marketing because we have our own notions but marketing definition is the action or business of promoting and selling products or services you are promoting products or services so what I do is photography what I sell is my services and so ...
often I see photographers trying to sell their services instead of selling themselves as the division of their services because it is a small difference but it makes a big impact because I'm going to be very honest with you if I tried to compete photography wise with the other photographers in my neck of the woods I would be at a competitive disadvantage because there are wildly talented. They're amazing at what they do. Their knowledge of technical capacities of photography supersedes my skill set by far. However, if I competed on service, if I compete on my personality, if I competed on my skill set, if I competed in my cure tape crematoria, lll abilities, I'm a force to be reckoned with, and I think that gives hope to a lot of photographers because what we want to do is we set up a totem pole. They're better than I am so they can charge more. They know more than I do. They have nicer gear, but if you change the playing field and reformat what is marketing getting people to talk or promote your services, we can do that now what I want to do is take you through what my marketing workflow looks like if you are interested in looking, how I post process and how a prep my images and how it organized them heavily encourage you to delve deep into the thirty day course, I'm gonna bypass all of that. I'm gonna start here with the marketing, so how I said my my my images up when I first do my first marketing push I coffee I water mark my images on a watermark may images because with the internet being the way that it is my photos can end up your photos can end up everywhere and all you really want uh one time my my photo of mine got shared on buzzfeed but it was cropped in a way that cut out the watermark but at least I had tried teo get to share on buzzfeed and I just think it's really important for us to try to protect as much as I can for sharing I don't mind if I just get scared I just want to make sure that my name is attached and by water marking you can absolutely effectively ensure that that happens now what I will do is I get the images so what you saw was behind the scenes peek you saw the mystery of the camera I edited it and at this point I'm going to first set out my first marketing campaign and I'm going to share about twenty images on my block but anything that appears on my block will also end up on various points of social media gonna walk you through what that looks like so I chose I've chosen my images I have about twenty images twenty one images and I take them in to blawg stomp toe watermark then this app is amazing I talked about it in the thirty day of course and I will do a quick demo because it's pretty much life changing a simple click and all of your images are watermarked so what I'm going to do is we're in the blog's stomp app right now and um let's see me here we go no thank you okay, so here we are in the block stamp stamp and what I've done is I have chosen I have chosen let me bring this down to bring this up later so I realize that I need to grab something from my desktop so I'm going to grab what you're not going to see on the screen so I'm going to grab images that I have in a folder on my desktop and I'm simply going to drag them into block stop so when I bring the screen back you will see that I simply have dragged him all into the blob stomp app and what you're going to see now great so what you're going to see now is blocks some has taken all of my high res images and simply by dragging them into the app it has resize them to be web optimized and I get to choose the size that I want them to sew what I can do now is let me show you just two things that I used blocks for so I can quickly get teo, I'm just going arbitrarily choose photos. They may or may not aesthetically work well together, but I'm gonna try this. I'm going to select two images and if I'm in freestyle, I get to choose how I want them to appear. So this is the quickest way to create collages if that's what you want to use for a marketing campaign but best yet if I simply just select another photo now it gives me a grid along this side for marketing capacities. I can use this for blog's I can use this for however I see fit. But in this particular case, I want to just to show you rather quickly. If I'm in batch, all I have to do is come down here and you'll see here this watermark aiken places anywhere I want on the screen I usually have it in the lower right hand or left hand corner and what I'll do is I simply click the stomp it button and now all of my images are watermarked. I clicked it once now where did all of those images go? Well, they went to a folder on my desktop. They have been renamed, they have been resized and they have been watermark cool, now I'm ready to share them on the web the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to block them now earlier in this course somebody had asked how do I block with images? Do I say that it was a style shoot? Do I say that it was for marketing and early on that is what I did, but nowadays I decide tiu tiu use this opportunity to not simply say, oh here's a photoshoot I hope you enjoy what I thought would be better in which I will show how it definitely benefited was to simply write my ideology on how I feel what I think love is, so I'm going to read that vlog posted to you right now love is an action but it's mostly a choice, a choice to stay up way too late at night to finish watching tell of a television series together a choice to apologize even when you know it's not your fault a choice to ignore bad attitude until the other person has eaten a choice to hold hadn't hold hands in public a choice to say I love you before hanging up the phone when you're out with friends, a choice to get a glass of water and place it by the bed each night a choice to pick up the shoes and put them in the closet without complaining again a choice to order pizza when what you really want his chinese takeout a choice to smell the lower most part of the neck and inhale the sweet, musty smells of a hard day a choice to say even in the darkest moments it will be okay love is a choice and I choose you I write that kind of as a division of what I experience because I believe from a personal marketing capacity I could attract people who feel the same way I truly want to document people who are in love. I truly want to dock document people who think that love is an action and it is also a choice. However, if this does not feel comfortable to you, simply write something in the block post I had a great opportunity to work with a great couple and a great team that is fine, but I'm saying there's, another opportunity, a different layer that you could take this necklace next level and stand out now if you're comfortable with writing this way or you're not let's talk about what we can do that kind of just generalize is what we can do to get even more marketing. So it is important to personalize the marketing post for two reasons. When a perspective client is looking at that block post, he or she will get to know you on a farm or personal level awesome but let's get now down to the affinity gritty it gives google the opportunity to read your post when you use words and you can come up inorganic searches so as I go through these types of block post I will list things and ways that I think people might be searching so here's a couple examples from this block post one of the best things about being an orange county wedding photographer I high like that and I link it to my website because in case anybody is looking googling orange county wedding photographer this bond post and or my website has the potential of coming up the best part of being an orange county wedding photographer is the luxury of having a variety of environments to photograph a bride and groom open fields cityscapes the beach it's a photographer's dream it's in case somebody is looking for a beach photographer in orange county I'm having the opportunity to come up there are few things prettier than natural light wedding photography the sun makes any photo downright gorgeous in case somebody is wondering what my style of photography is I would hope that they could read that I prefer natural light here's a few other examples but one thing I want to point out a bouquet filled with dahlia's garden roses and english roses yes please in case somebody is searching for dahlia bouquet my block post has an opportunity to come up and if she is looking for a dahlia bouquet chances are she's looking and planning for her wedding and hopefully she doesn't have a wedding photographer so use your post to find these this term analogy and tell you you're going to do this once and then you can apply it a few other times through social media so let's talk about what happens after this shoot so after the shoot I wanna break this into my two huge main categories of marketing visually and that would be instagram first informal instagram let's talk about what those marketing effects looked like efforts look like now you can use instagram however you darn well choose from this particular shoot I had three instagram post and I will show you what yielded from them I had to professional photo shared and one personal behind the scenes and all I really want to use instagram for is teo give my viewers both photographers but mostly brides an opportunity to see what I do and possibly link to their friends so in totality from these three post there was five thousand two hundred likes and there's over one hundred comments and there's a lot of linking two other friends and when people linked other friends are like at other friends there is a higher likelihood of ending up in that natural organic page on instagram that follows people and will allow your photos to come up in an organic feed and that's precisely what I want I want to be shown as a wedding photographer in somebody else's feed who does not follow me? One. I'm growing my audience. Teo, I'm creating conversations in three. I have the opportunity to book a client who's, looking for whatever the thing. They're being tagged in.

I very much like the quick marketing video class with Jasmine Star. I like the way the video has been edited down. The transitions could be edited out or be shorter. It does move very fast, and she does speak very, very quickly. But it's very efficient. She does not waste time. She is an effective communicator. Smart & Personable. This helps me not to spend 8 hours watching an online class, but I can still learn quite a lot. It's pared down to the essentials. Despite her rapid fire delivery, she also manages to pause to share little tidbits about herself here and there. Just enough, not too much. And, it's always relevant to the topic. During her styled photo shoot, she was great at sharing all of her settings, lenses used, etc.. while she's shooting. And, we get to see the photos while she's shooting. I would love to see the settings on the images as other photographers do for their presentations. But, that would just be a bonus. The only thing is, that the marketing plan budget perhaps isn't "really" $250, if I'm not mistaken. It seems more like the styled photo shoot (part of the marketing program), is what costs about $250 (counting on lots of free products/services). Once you factor in just the Facebook Marketing Program (after the styled shoot) with placing ads, etc.. and still relying on a lot of free products and services, I would imagine the marketing program does exceed $250 total. Still, it's a great start into something more like "how you can do styled shoot on a budget". Highly recommend the class.
