Beach Shoot Recap
Photographers are at the mercy of light that out light there are no photographs so it's really helpful to be aware of different kinds of light due to your subject and I talked about that earlier round the difference between direct light and indirect light this morning all the hat was in direct light it's been foggy since the moment we arrived here on the beach fog is a beautiful kind of light it produces problems in exposure there's not a lot of contrast problems but it can lead to a bit of a dullness in the scene so I begin to look for highlights and I found my highlights in the breaking surf early this morning when the waves break that white phone is where I find my highlights and later on in post I can exaggerator I can enhance those highlights and I can pull my blacks towards a deeper point I shot white that's how I often start I start doing the easy things first wide angle lens has come very naturally to me and then I started applying a telephoto lens perspective on the same lands...
cape and I compressed things instead of stretching the perspective and then we moved to an intertidal zone and I started looking for things close to my feet landscapes truly landscapes that landscapes have it out of horizon and that is when things became more challenging to me because every step I took I would see something different for del scenes I applied my twenty four to seventy millimeter lens and that there's a ll tripod work I started by doing an open scene that showed lots of different things so living together and then once I became aware of the patterning in that scene I began to look more closely and I started to isolate certain small section and then I moved on to a muscle bank and that that's what I call and easy pattern this was just a couple of hours in one simple setting and yet I'm convinced that I came up with another image that is new to me and that is because I know the place well I conjugate the moods I see the rhythms and you can do that too you can apply your own passion for photography in a place close to your home and that is where you can begin to see the nuances as a photographer I've been very lucky to travel as much as I have I know antarctic I know africa I know the jungles of borneo but the most meaningful images the ones that really touched my heart come from this speech because this is my place so I really would like to encourage you to find your own spot to find your own subject and then start doing meaningful images that go beyond just scratching the surface because that's the easiest thing to do to take pictures but here I'm making images I hope you'll join me here one day in the same beach for one of our workshops, where I teach people how to apply the art of c

Loved this course with Frans Lanting. His explanations were awesome. I learned to "see" things in a way I have not seen before. I also was inspired to go back to my own safe haven at St. Marks Wildlife Refuge and "create." So much to practice but love that I can always come back to review this class/course for more inspiration. I would love to join one of his workshops.

a really excellent class with a very humble Frans Lansing. Good explanations of EVERYTHING; composition, light and equipment. REALLY want to take one of Frans courses in person. Such a lovely person it seems. Thank you Frans!! I have posted some of my work and I am now inspired to do some of the gorgeous water shots you took WOW!!!

I really, really, really enjoyed this course. I watched it when I was forced indoors by 100+ degree weather, and the constant sound of the surf cooled my brain. Frans is very easy to like and learn from. After spending this much time with him, I feel he should know me if I walked up and shook his hand--his personality extends so easily through the screen. He both reinforced my own sense of how to approach seeing a location and encourage me to see in different ways. His review of tech was mouthwatering as those look like some pretty high end cameras, but he finished the whole day by recommending his iPhone as the best camera he ever had. I was sorry when I finished this class; I wanted to go with Frans to a new location and do the same thing all over again. Thanks for a terrific value from CreativeLive.com!
