So, our full gallery edits, those are done in Lightroom. We, our goal here is really to mainly enhance the images, we're really not doing anything too crazy. So for many years, Davina was doing the editing herself, still does it sometimes as well. But for the most part, our editing goes to The Image Salon. It's our post-production service that we started three years ago, and we wanted, kind of in conjunction with having kids, ironically enough Not ironically, it makes perfect sense. (both laugh) We wanted to outsource our editing and the challenge that we found is that we really needed someone who would cater to our own needs and give us really consistent results. So we built the business The Image Salon around that concept. As you've seen by now, we're very particular about the way we like things done. We like to be very thorough, we like to put a lot of thought into things. And we're kinda perfectionists in a lot of ways. So the idea for me was like, I would never outsource my ...
galleries if I felt like it wasn't gonna be done at least, you know, to the way I like things done. And I didn't want my clients to have to sacrifice the quality of their product. So the only way that we could see that working was through an in-house editor. So that's really what The Image Salon, the philosophy behind The Image Salon, is. Like you feel like you have an in-house editor, because you're working with one person. That person can get to know you, you can communicate directly with them, so they become an extension of your team. That's really what it's been like for us, and it's great, because I can stand behind that, our own product and our own business, because I am a customer also. And it's worked for us, and my god, has it saved me a lot of time, so, it's pretty great. So we have our own editor at the studio. Everybody works out of our studio in Montreal. Nothing is outsourced further down, overseas. All of our editors are photographers as well, so they really understand, you know, lighting and composition and, you know, proper editing. And we don't impose our own style on any of our clients, it's really about catering the editing approach to the photographer themselves, and really, like Davina said, being an extension of that photography team. And just last week actually, we launched our charitable part of our business at The Image Salon. And the idea here is to promote and encourage photographers to get involved in charitable missions. And the way that we do that is by supporting them with free editing on any charitable project that has been photographed. So if you're shooting for a not-for-profit or any kind of organization that is promoting a good cause and the photographer is not getting paid for their services, well at The Image Salon we'll edit those images for free. We do have a couple of discount codes for anybody who wants to try The Image Salon. You can get 50% off on your first order, up from the regular 25% off. And if you're already a client, I'm sure, a bunch of them, I know we have some here in the audience as well, they can get 20% off on their next order. To get more information, just go to theimagesalon.com and kinda the process will take you from there. Alright, when it comes to the actual editing, we recently built a set of Lightroom presets with the guys at Dvlop. These presets are really built from the ground up and look at our style and then decompose it and really build something interesting that applies to a multitude of different situations. They also allow us to mix and match with different photographers, because they feature other photographers as well. And as an artist, they allow you to explore and try different looks and find the style that's good for you. So in our own pack, we have six different presets. The first one, which we named Paro is our sort of go-to preset for all types of situations, really has very neutral skin tones, good whites, good blacks, nothing too crazy. It's really meant to be a solid, solid starting point. Then we have a preset called Viejo, and that one is based around, really, a lot of ambient light but bold colors. So when you edit with it, it really brings out a lot of the reds, the oranges, and situations where you have a lot of candlelight or ambient light, it really brings out the colors. We have Hyder, which we use on a lot of environmental photos, such as this one. So it brings a lot of the sky and the texture to life. And then Korakia, which we've really designed based around the way that we shoot on the dancefloor. So with a bounce flash, make sure that we get good skin tone, vignette the edges a little bit, get a lot more of that color on the edges of the frame, while retaining good color on the main subject, usually in the center of the frame. And the last one is called Marfa, which is really meant for sunlit and backlit photos. So it brings out a lot of the orange tones and a lot of the bold colors again. Sorry, I forgot one more, which is our black and white preset. We've called that one St Henri and it's a good classic black and white with good tonal range, good highlight detail, shadow detail, and good contrast as well.

Holy Moly! I have been very familiar with Davina & Daniel for several years and I also work closely with Image Salon for the past 3 years. I loved their relatability, raw honesty, human connection, and their teaching method. It was also super helpful to see the GoPro footage on a real wedding day and walk through their thought process with them. A refreshing wind of inspiration has now flooded my mind and attitude. I am excited to begin my 8th year of weddings with a clear mind and full heart. These two are the REAL deal and I am so happy I made this investment. Thanks, CL for always bringing the BEST of the BEST.

I’ve been following Davina and Daniel’s work for years and suffice it to say, they are in my top 6 all time favorites. I was so excited to watch this creative live and it didn’t disappoint. From their approach to shooting through the moments, to their stunning locales and minimalist gear, there is something for everyone in this class. Both Daniel and Davina have a tremendous knowledge of photography and their willingness to share and educate is second to none. Oh, and just so you know, they are also the nicest people on the planet. Super sweet, amazingly talented. Thanks for having them on.

Davina and Daniel are fantastic presenters as well as an exceptional photo team (plus they are super nice people, too!). I love their approach and methods and felt like there is so much value in this course. Even though I've been photographing for a long time, I took away a lot of great value gems from their course and look forward to applying several to my own business!
