Traktor Pro Deck

So let's first take a look at the top of the deck and go back to advanced this is our deck header and the decade or displays useful information about what is happening in that track for example the name of the track, the artist the amount of time that's remaining in the track, the current tempo, the full length of the track and the original tempo now all of these could be changed so I can customize my deck header and the first thing you can do is other turn on the cover art or not I don't have the cover art on since use your songs I made and I just haven't gone that far it actually add cover art although it's very easy to import the that cover art but the change what we see here displayed we're going to go into a new tab in our preferences tree which is tracked x so now on top I have deck header and you can see I have the ability to add nine different things and this's a lot for us a lot of stuff to be displayed we're not going to need all of these things displayed um if you really wan...

t nine things displayed that's that's up to you but personally I think what I have here is all I really need to see um I can take things off so if I click on the middle row this is where I have the artist name so boom artist you can see it's already displayed there, but I can see things like beets, beast, a cubit rate catalog number, all sorts of different stuff remake. Sure. So there's a ton of stuff that you could display and you're going to notice throughout the course of these tutorials, that tractor has a million different options which could be intimidating to certain people but to the pro and anybody who is very experienced with tractor, all of these things become more essential as you become a more proficient user of tractor pro. So that's track decks ah, there's, a couple other things that we have here that I'll get into very shortly. But for now let's close this. So what else is going on the track back, right below the deck header! I have a couple buttons here. About four I have sink and sink is what keeps traditional djs away from digital dejiang, which is the process of automatically matching the tempo of your track and sync will sink to whatever the master tempo is. So because I'm using external drum machines and doing a lot of dance music, I like to have my master tempo set up here on my master clock, so that means every single deck is going to sink to one hundred twenty four beats per minute I can also have auto sink on when auto sink is on what's going to happen is the deck that's been playing the longest is going to be my master tempo and I could still fluctuate the tempo of that track and then other tracks will then follow that would be a good use case for an open format deejay or maybe somebody using timecode vinyl since I'm doing mostly dance music and this tutorial I'm gonna leave everything bastard sink I'm sorry to the master temple here one hundred twenty four alright so turn on sink and you can see that right here that my tempo is now moving around a little bit from one twenty four to one two four five seven and you also notice that my tempo fader is going to be great out in the middle I have my phase meter and the face meter will display how much behind or in front of the master clock I am and this is really important when setting up our b cred which I won't get into shortly so right now you can see I'm pretty turn on sing right now I'm perfectly on the master tempo but if I nudge these guys which will speed up and slow down the tempo it's kind of like nudging the side of a record now I'm a little bit behind e could also simply drag that face meter so every deck has a phase meter so this is how you can get comptel if one deck is a little bit behind a little bit in front really important stuff below that I have my playback way form and the playback way form has a play head in the middle, which is this red line we turn off key lock real quick so whenever the way form moves past this red line that's the audio that I'm gonna here my super six scratching skills right there. I wanted the nfc championship once with the mouse that's not true, eh? So there's other things you can see in here I have my way form and let's let's tweak out the way for him a little bit. Open up my preferences command comma, you'll see that I'm opening up preferences with the quickie. Get used to that it's it's really helpful on dh, especially in pretty much any pro app like I mentioned. So track, dex, miscellaneous there are some things that we can kind of customize here. Um let's go two decks layout, actually. And what I want to focus on is the grid mode. So grid mode, this line right here is our b grid and I can already tell you that it's way off when I said this this grid is not even close on, I can turn it on full I could go dim, which is where I had it I can do ticks which will display the grid on the top in the bottom of the way form or I could turn it off to invisible I'm gonna leave that on I just think it's pretty helpful to have it on dim show minute markers pertains to the stripe view which I'll explain shortly minute markers will be this is like one minute two minutes three minutes four minutes five minutes so on and so forth and then color mode I haven't set the spectrum right now which is the prettiest way form you can see him I write decades purple and blue so very feminine but if we wanted a more masculine color we could do ultraviolet the boysbathroom growing up blue infrared which is an a sexual color x ray which is the most manly of them all gray let's leave it on spectrum because I'm feeling a little feminine today all right, part of my joking this we also have other things like uh that weaken kind of tweak out here which is our play marker position which is this red line in the middle so say I don't want it in the middle right next to the phase meter I want my play had to be kind of on the left hand side it's very easy to switch I just move this over to say twenty five and now I have my play head right there on the left hand side of the plate today. All right, let's put it back in the middle of just because I kind of like it there, all right? Perfect. Right in the middle, right next to the face meter. So that is pretty much it besides, thie zoom in, zoom out, but you can see I can get super close into these way forms very convenient or super far out that's your preference. You want to do it for editing? I would suggest being close for just traditional playback recommend being zoomed out so that's it for the playback way form. Next we have the striped few and strive you is this smaller way form on the bottom. We can navigate through the track with this simply by clicking, and you're going to see where my mouse's there is a plus bars or negative bars. That's how many bars were moving forward? It's not super useful because djs aren't the best uh, adams detractors, if you will, or or mathematicians. So you really got to be, you know, careful, we'd like to have things on a grid, which I'll explain the be jumping, which is done with in this type of increments. But if I'm playing to track what's really cool is tractable maintain the downbeat whenever I flipped through the track so if I'm say over here and the decks playing and I want to jump forward, maybe because of the crowd isn't digging the song I can just click and you're going to see how it's gonna maintain the count within that particular beat, check it out one, three, four so it keeps it going right so it's not like when you're flipping through a track inside of itunes, it just moves to that section regardless of whether it's on beat the tractor will maintain that which is super helpful and makes this a very useful tool. So we can also see things like explained the minute markers and where our q points are on the left hand side, I can move to the beginning of the track and I can also turn key lock on so this is an easier way of activating key lock instead of clicking on this small little blue dot I can hit this it's big in this yellow all right and that is the stripe of you not really much else to that, so we went over so far just quickly review the picture we went over the deck header the phase meter the playback way form the strive you on next we have the transport controls of the deck
