So let's talk about what happens when you have more than one photo and you don't especially wanted to be like a clustering sort of feel maybe you're like ah linear scrapbook er and you like paper pieces and you like a little bit more of a rigid format in your scrapbooking that is a fun way to scrapbook as well, so let's talk about laying out ok? So we're going to be duplicating this play out of my son in the hospital uh he's fine, nobody worry he has breathing issues so sometimes actually a lot of times we end up in the hospital so I end up with these hospital are these photos of him in the hospital and they're not they're not fun, they're not like something where oh, I'm going to be john t and I'm going to angle things one way and make it really fun this is a more seriously out, so I like tio with my more serious photos I like to have just more order in my design, so I'm going to create really blocky layout for these photos and this is especially effective for those of you who really ...

So let's open up a new file twelve by twelve ok, so the first thing I'm going to dio as I'm going to start by bringing in the photos close this so I know that I have three photos that I want to use um but the way that my cell phone takes photos is that they're really long they're really wide photos and this is just too um off of a ratio for me, so I'm going tio make them three by four ratio, so I don't want to make them necessarily three by five or size I just want them to be a three by four ratio, so I'm going to go over here on my rectangular marquis tool and go to fixed ratio and I'm gonna put in three and four no if I were to pick fixed size than a three and three inches and four inches, then the it would give me a box that's exactly three and four inches, which doesn't necessarily fit what I want my picture to be, so I'm going to use the ratio instead and then I'm gonna click and drag and I'm going to make sure that I get everything in the photo that I want to be there and I think that's a little bit too much let's do this instead cut off all that ugly bed under there nice now I have a three by four of my boy that I like, yep that's a good crop for me, so if I were to try to sleep but if I were to try and recreate that exact size by using the rectangular marquis to again because I want my all my photos to be the same size would be kind of hard to match it. So instead of doing that, I'm going tio resize this photo a little bit smaller since I know I'm I'm gonna want more in this photo that what eyes covered right now I'm going to resize it down and I know I'm gonna want to go edge to edge, so I'm gonna resize it exactly to the edge of that first photo. Then I'm gonna command click on the first photo to get the marching and and I'm going to turn the visibility off on that layer and now with the rectangular marquis tool, I can move this around and its exact same size as the other photo, and I can frame this picture perfectly as well, and when I'm done hit command j to create a new layer and I have a photo that is the exact same size of the first photo is another ah ha moment okay, and we're going to repeat the process one more time with this photo, I think I wanted to be a little less cropped it on the edges, but not too much command click and turn off both of these and make sure that you are on your rectangular marquis and you could move that marquee around it's okay with me if I cut off its feet a little bit more about him playing on his ipod okay, so now I have three photos that are the exact same size, but they're three different I mean, obviously there three different zooms which are going to create it's going to create some visual interest in our photos if I had three that were, you know, all from far away, even if the pictures were all from far away, I'd probably resized our crop them at different sizes ratios so I would zoom in and stuff okay, let's, turn on the grid. This is going to be a grid based layout, and I wanted to go back to one inch and four subdivisions, which is going to give me a line every quarter of an inch and on the zoom in so I can see and I'm going to align this one exactly a quarter of an inch from the other one so there's in a quarter of an inch between both of them. You see it? Uh once I do that that they're way too big, so I'm going to select them all by clicking and dragging with my selection tool and I'm going to hold down fault or option and shift and re size them all together and I think I want about a half an inch on the edge and since it's half an inch over here, I mean, yeah, happening over here. I need to have an inch over here. So I'm going to make sure that we're hitting the grid right. Looks good on that side and get on that side. So now they're all the same size still. But they're fitting to the proportions of the layout that I want them to fit tio.

I'm currently halfway through the courses, and I am so glad I decided to watch these. I haven't been scrapping for very long, and am mostly self taught through tutorials found on the internet and youtube. I found that various concepts weren't explained to me (how to really use a template, designer intentions, how to use other layouts for inspiration) and so I sort of hit a wall trying to get further in scrapping digitally. This course basically broke down the walls and provided me with so much info and inspiration that I feel really comfortable in taking my efforts further. Whereas before I was thinking that I might always be stuck with a mediocre result :) thank you Traci!!
