Turning One Job into Two and Recap
How to get mohr of your customers in the door don't be afraid to exploit your current customers to come back get them back we shoot sports I've been we talked about that a couple of times I do a flyer with the promotion and that goes in every kid's bag every kid's bang and now we get a ton of families that come back and it gets your name out in the community it's community involvement it makes these people think about you it makes them aware of you providing more services than just the soccer ball and you put good images on it and you show them things that you are that you can do this work why when I get a high school senior and we do a free family session for every high school senior okay you book you have a high school senior session with me you get it for you do high school session get free family session no minimum order no session fee we shoot it why someone to sell a bunch off of it? Do you know what I want to do their their family session right after the senior session I want to...
shoot the senior from one to two I want to shoot the family from two to three you know why? Because at that point were ableto like the senior and I were getting along were great the mom's seen the experience I don't have to go back out on location to do a free session I'm already there dad and the other kids show up at the end we go around, we'd take a few family photos doesn't need to be some ridiculous three hour session we'll go out we'll shoot for half an hour forty five minutes and I'm going to turn around and show them all these images all these images that they think and it's kind of how do you say no but you're going to be like no, I don't really want pictures of my family of course you'll have pictures of your family and I am I actually second shot a wedding for jen and could talk about it right now and it was a catholic family that had I think one hundred thirty kids and I'm catholic I can talk about catholics know they had all these kids and it was so funny because we're up there on the altar and she she was setting up this amazing family portrait and she's getting everyone in there and I was talking to the parents and the moms you know, I don't think we've had a family picture since you've been in the family and she pointed a seventeen year old daughter you haven't had a family portrait in seventeen years you can get a ticket for that so point that stuff out ask him when they're booking their senior session when was the last time you had an updated family photo? I'd like to offer that to you for free you have to buy anything if you don't like them all you've wasted his half an hour but you might come in and get something really like you got nothing to lose have never been skunked on it I've never had someone not buy anything and that's just off of our free family sessions it's free but it's just worked in to our business this would be a little bit different the card is not something we don't do it for free we saw at a discounted rate to get him in the door and then once we get a man we offer them more than one image which is what's provided one image we offer them more than they have to say no to all the other ones and only like one which doesn't happen then we would get him in the door using one image is lost leader so don't be afraid to use these sessions as as ah a gateway session get him in, get him in and don't be afraid to like talk to people in your community if you know that they have a senior coming talkto hey I want to shoot your kid session and I say no don't be bitter if they dio but don't be afraid to ask for it so let's recap this course in the last three days we have gone over sixteen successful things that all businesses d'oh common truths if you do these sixteen things were gonna be on the right course we went over how to set up sessions we went over setting a pricey went over marketing he's even remember that's like three days and I feel like that was like like a month ago you know we talked about we talked about focusing on your strengths and identifying what marketing is working remember it's important that you have tohave an amazing web presence right now it's not location location location dot com dot net dot whatever get him on the web site your website has to be rocking gotta nail it it's not it's it's it's it's a death sentence if you don't we went over who went over proper shooting workflow I think I might have hit that one hard I wanted to show you guys that I'm an extreme I'm an extreme in the fact that I don't overshoot and maybe and like I was telling you guys earlier it's more important to make sure that you meet your client's expectations with their image than it is to shoot twenty frames shoot as many as you need to shoot to get it but as you work on this craft and you perfect it be conscious of the fact the more you shoe the longer it's taking you to do your job the conscious of the fact that the more you shoot, the less time you're spending with your family for the same amount of money way talked about proper digital workflow I have a system no if your cards have been downloaded needs to come in the camera never questioned that no, wouldn't you sit down at work? The steps that you have to take to execute the session that they're expecting in the least amount of time possible? I know that when you're at work, you're working. You aren't goofing around let's and we talked about we talked about pricey, we talked about selling all of car talked about selling collections and I don't care how you sell your products, I care that you're profitable find a sale system that's working for you and duplicate it. Repeat it, make it simple, make your money we'd like it's a distance game here being photography as long as you want to be in photography, don't let your crummy business decisions run you out don't let an ineffective workflow kill your passion e I got so many passions, a passionate guy and photography is definitely one of them, and I would hate to find out that because I'm not treating my job correctly, I started to hate something I'm passionate about right now, you know, treats job right gets especially products from a good provider I showed you guys the stuff we use, I'm crazy about the providers that we use. I love all of the third party plug ins stuff that I have probable cause for I told you a bunch of stuff I don't, I don't get paid off of these cos I just want you guys to be able to save some money on it and I want you to get the products that are going to make you stand out in your marketplace. I want you get the stuff that they aren't finding anywhere else once you go use sticky albums, get the mobile app, they can't do that, I want you goto artsy couture use their gallery, the storybook gallery with storyboard calorie blocks they can't get it on their own, so these products and these things are what are going to let us survive in this industry? We have to be times are changing so fast and that's fine it's just it's just reinforcing not being stagnant. This is a proactive industry photographers were like the first ones that hopped on twitter. They were like the first ones that took over facebook for business, but yeah, I mean it's a game this industry changes faster than the rest and we are in an industry right now where we take more pictures every two minutes right now then we did in the entire nineteenth century so I mean that's a quantity is there but is the quality that's your job quality products images that count there's no shortage of photography going on but there is for great photography so don't cheapen this industry like I love this industry and I want you to love it and I want you to make a bunch of money at it and we all hang out when go play bocce ball or something later on after this I don't know they just treat this industry right and let's keep this industry going and make money any way you can in this industry for selling digital of selling prints of its selling session fees of its being allah cardiff it's be minimum order doesn't matter make sure it's working make sure your business is bringing the money so you have to make it work for you I hope that you guys like understand how passionate I am about making your business his work I'm an open book transparency is something that's necessary right now if you're going to get up on a public stage and talk and beyond wanting to make it work you have to have that determination, mindset, perseverance and relentlessness I mean it's got to be like three hundred warriors I mean we're going to fight for it we're going to business don't be naive that this is going to be easy don't be naive that your talents gonna be enough I don't care if you can take a good picture don't care. I care if you can sell in okay one your your merits and your awards are wonderful and if it's something that you're proud of and it's and it's a way that you're improving your craft that's awesome! But did you pay a rent last month? That's more important are you living the lifestyle you want to? I care way more about that than I care about awards, so I hope that this works for you. I want you to go home and practice the stuff I guarantee you that if you just take the steps that I showed you, it will work. I promise you if you just take my steps and use doesn't use them as inspiration to send you in the direction that's going to make your business more profitable do that? I won't be offended. Call me and tell me how it's working thank you so much for watching he talk for three days. I said, my wife doesn't want to listen to me talk for over three days. I don't know how you're going to find anyone, but you guys are tuning in and I'm so grateful, so thank you.

I decided to listen in on the free course of Build a High Volume Senior Photography Business w/ Matthew Kemmentmueller...I thought it would be good to have the skill sets even if I chose to do another photography forum other than seniors. And I was laughing thru the whole thing...he is one funny guy!! So, I decided to buy it...not only is this course full of great tips/advice/ and "did you know facts" but it's really informative and again, he is down right funny. I'm learning lots. Thanks for having him on Creative Live...this one is a keeper.

I absolutely loved this course. I am primarily a maternity and newborn shooter and to my surprise what I learned here applies to my current work as well as developing my senior work. I thoroughly enjoyed Matthews delivery of each topic as it was clear, precise, fun and non intimidating. I will watch this over and over and the course downloads were amazing! 100% satisfied with this course

Matthew's class is excellent! I watched it live, but decided to buy it since it's so foundational. I think his information and materials are excellent, whether someone wants to be "high volume" or not. I love how he continually drove the point home about how so many photographers overwork themselves and gave excellent ways to resolve this issue. CL does such a great job of covering the gamut in education of all types. Thanks!
