Class Introduction
Hey everybody, I'm Tim Cooper from National Parks at Night and I'm super thrilled to be up here. Even after 25 years of teaching photography, I still get really excited about making new images and sharing the how to with others. As you can see, we're up in the Marin Headlands, just a little bit north of San Francisco, an absolutely beautiful area. We're gonna show you guys how to create some really cool, dynamic night photography. Now even if you're a portrait photographer, an architecture photographer, an outdoor photographer, learning the skills of nighttime photography are just gonna open up all kinds of opportunities for you. Extend your shooting hours, you can shoot day, you can shoot night, you can blend lights. We're gonna learn about exposure, we're gonna learn about color and how to blend it all together, it's gonna be really super exciting. Now, as with any outdoor photography, weather's always gonna influence what we're shooting. Last night we were up here and there was so m...
uch fog there was not a star in sight. So we need to be flexible and go with the punches, sorta think outside the box. So tonight what we're gonna do is we're gonna sit back and watch the weather. We're just gonna see what comes out. And the cool thing about night photography is that no matter what's going on there's great images to be made. If it's raining out you could shoot the reflections in the pavement, in the sidewalks. If it's foggy out you could do long exposures and get these really super cool streaks across the sky. If there's stars out you could shoot star trails. So we're really open to anything tonight and what I'm hoping to do is just look for different situations and I'm gonna guide you through every step of the way. We're gonna talk about our exposure, we're gonna talk about our ISO, we're gonna talk about our lens choices. We're just gonna really work through each scene from beginning to end. So are you guys ready? Let's go have some fun.

This course, along with the others by Tim Cooper, are outstanding. His demonstrations and explanations are so clear and easy to follow. I've been out doing long exposure night photography using what i learned from Tim and and delighted by the results.
