Fundamentals of Off-Page SEO
So now let's get into off page ceo there's a lot more to asio than just code code key words you can all effect you can change that it's hard to manipulate off page seal that's where they placed the majority of ranking factors there's a few things that matter in links lynxes off page a ceo think of the presidential election ones coming up soon and who knows who's going to win but if you look at our current president obama why'd he went he got more votes google being look at the internet and ranking kind of like our presidential system the more votes a vote being a link on the internet that a website gets the higher their rankings so the more links you get, the hard you're going to rank now every link is a equal just like a vote isn't equal even though my vote counts is just as much as yours. If bill clinton, on the other hand, was another president says hey, everyone should vote for president obama what's gonna happen much more people are likely to vote for president obama and if me nei...
l patel says you guys should all vote for president obama bill clinton has more authority and that's how links work too if forbes air huffingtonpost linked to you that's much more effective and much more authoritative than if joe the plumber linked to you so when you're building these links you want to make sure that the good authoritative sites linked to you even if you have less of them they're way more effective and here's another graft for pie try that just shows google's ranking factors and links being a huge component right off pages seo is the majority of it trust of the host domain authority that is affected by links as well. A lot of these things are all impacted by links. Moss has a nice chart it talks about, you know the biggest priorities and google's agua and again it shows that links are the big two and here's a list of nine of them. Right, so from linking domain level of the authority of the site, the keywords all these types of things affect f a sight linking to you is going to help your rankings or not again joe the plumber is not as relevant as forbes. In addition to that, if I have a news website or if I have a business website forms linking to me from their business section is much more effective than uh, new york times linking to me from their economy section right? Because four is the business section is more relevant than new york times's economy news or stockmarket channel or whatever it may be. Even the new york times has more authority relevance he's also important in essence you want to go over quality over quantity go for high quality links you can also with quality back wings it comes down to relevancy trust and domain authority so here's your tier one back links those the good ones articles two point oh sides quickies in your sides um and then it gets into social bookmarking sites we keys all those etcetera linking to those sites and then you see directories and other sites linking to those tier two links all this does is a trickle up effect that's why the tear one's air so strong ah lot of the sites linking to the forms of the world are really authoritative it all comes down to relevancy. The more relevant your links are, the better you offer same would trust if you go to site and you're like I trust this site you're going to do well because people trust forbes they don't trust joe the plumber telling you what restaurant to eat but they trust new york times's restaurant review section which all comes down to domain authority when those factors come into play a site has good domain authority that means when you get links from them you'll do well dr oz if you're in the weight loss space or held space great link well indy again another great link help dot com decent not as good as well as indeed all comes down to trust and authority as you can see from dr ross, the reason he ranks really high because dr ross doesn't just have domain authority, he also asked trust trust is a big component people know him, they see him on tv when you're doing seo cho citation is also going to be big with linc building in which people willing to you without a link. I know that may sound crazy, but we were ever read article on like new york times, and they mentioned something like, oh, tickle me elmo doll is really popular they're selling out like hotcakes during christmas. A lot of times they won't link the tickle me elmo dot com, but they do mention it, and if a lot of people mention it, you'll start raking hire a lot of people mentioned neil patel dot com within their articles, even though they don't link to my personal site and it ranks number one because of that you can out ring people for a lot of terms. I outrank wikipedia and other authoritative sites for online marketing that's a competitive keyword it's really expensive to rank for that? Why do I outrank him? Because I'm using all the factors that I discuss now, let's get into seven advanced link building strategies, so number one broken link building if you just google broken link building tool there's a lot of free tools that will tell you who's linking to competitive your sights and those links are broken and you, khun email those people saying, hey, john, I notice you link tow x when we x y and z site that link that you have is actually broken as a user, it sucks going to your website, clicking on that link and being taken into a black abyss with nothing there. So you know what I want you link to my girl? I've critter similar paige it's more thorough, more detailed, and it provides value. I think your users will be happy going toe landing page that gives him something versus going toe for a four page another strategy skyscraper technique. Brian dean uh, wrote about this one, and he created it in which you'll see list post out there ten ways to lose weight in thirty days. So what brian would say is, hey, if there's articles like on losing weight in thirty days, I'm gonna write inside of ten ways to lose weight in thirty days, one hundred and one ways to lose weight in thirty days. It's so much more detailed and thorough that people like, wow, this guy spent how much time writing this article, and then he'll email all those people that linked to the original and said, hey, can you link to mind too? It works well infographics another one if you can take complex data and show it visually it's a great way to get more links you can also create lists seven ways or seven reasons why list posts are great ten ways to lose weight in thirty days whatever it may be how to lose a guy in ten days even create a movie with that title it works that's why when you go to these grocery stores you see all these magazines that the newstands she'll like all right, let me buy one that's what you have to come up with a lot of blawg topic headlines I goto hudson using the airport travel a lot and I don't buy the magazines but I do jack their headlines internal linking assaults another way the reason I rang for all I'm marking when the main ones I linked to that guide on online marketing throughout every single page of my website and my side bryce hey, check out my guys and I put beginner's guide to online marketing it's helped me rank number one you also want to do guess post you can write post on forbes and all these sites all you do is find editors there don't email him cold say I want to write for you find editors who are you writing? Strike up a conversation I'll go into this later on and ask him for introduction to editor and they'll do it, but you had to find guest contributors first, so you find other writers and asking for introduction to editor. You don't go to enter directly. You don't go to forbes directly, you alway we go through other writers. A writer to writer introduction is much more powerful than a cold email to editor or the magazine. You also can get into ego babe. I remember I did this years ago. There was entrepreneur called, uh, jason call canis he's still around he's well known in the bay area. And jason talked about seo and how it sucks. So I challenged him that I can increase his traffic by x percent. And he said, okay, and there was this whole block thing about it, and I started generating a lot of traffic and heated to and we're like, all right, this is good all ego bit I remember he even shot an email saying, hey, let's, drag this house like, all right, sounds good. We'll get more links and more traffic.

First, I would like to thank Creative Live for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the live audience in Neil Patel's course. It was a thoroughly enjoyable, thoughtful and useful class . Neil Patel is extremely articulate and knowledgeable in the SEO techniques. He shared his ideas and concepts unselfishly - some a little complex - in a manner which even a non-techie could understand and appreciate. I am a young Chef at a 2-Michelin star restaurant here in San Francisco, a writer and an entrepreneur. I have a blog and a website right now, and am in the process of building another website - so this course came at the perfect time. I have not been getting enough traffic to my website and blog and Neil has taught me a bunch of strategies to overcome this challenge and, eventually, be able to stand out in this crowded field. I am now ready to generate not just traffic but relevant traffic to my sites that will produce a high conversion rate. This will enable me to share my knowledge and experiences, reach a bigger audience and reap some financial rewards in the process. The cost of purchasing this class is so well worth it - I have no hesitancy in recommending this to anyone who would like to increase effective traffic to their websites with strategies that can be implemented immediately and easily. I cannot thank Neil enough and the wonderful Creative Live staff who made the participants feel so welcome. Sometimes, all you need is a little help to get to where you want to go, and I think I got that today.

I follow Neil's blog like so many others. I cannot afford to hire him yet but one day, I will be wildly successful and I will definitely give him a call then so that I can hopefully purchase one of his product offerings. This class is great and he has a great sense of humor. He is effortlessly funny. He knows how to teach complex SEO things in an easy and enjoyable way. I don't normally leave reviews (this is my first review & probably my last) but I feel I owe him a review due to everything that he has taught me on his websites. I learned a lot in this course but because he is so pleasant, I didn't notice I was learning; it was fun. Thanks Neil!

This was a fantastic course with lots of useful advice and tactics. Clearly, Neil is the real deal. Instead than trying to sell you gimmicky hidden methods and tactics that would instantly increase your sales by a thousand times, he gives you the precise tools and strategies you need to keep growing. I liked that there was no padding like in many business courses, and the pace was really focused and quick. This course will continuously ask you to pause and seek out some fantastic tools or go deep into practical advice that will help you build your business by adding value for both current and new clients. I heartily endorse.
