Set Up Your Etsy Listings Manager
Onto the next thing listings manager s o this was the thing as I was writing the class this was the thing that changed quite a bit and if you haven't if you have another shop and haven't visited it for a while this may look quite different to you this is the current etc listings manager um it allows you to do a lot of different things including bulk edits some of the buttons that you want to be aware of and click on to check out what they do for your shop is you'll want to click on the view button up at the top there at the top corner uh the stats tells you how your shop is performing and the quick edit button allows you to quickly edit your listings do you want to take a question oh yeah I think your questions so this question eleven votes so if it's best to focus on what you sell do you do if you do have several products um that don't go together should you open multiple stores up oh yeah so how do you manage your multiple stores so if you have like you're selling one thing that's co...
mpletely not like the other thing, right? Yes so in general if you make a lot of different things in different styles or massively different categories from a customer point of view it's much easier to shop in a shop that is very focused however I have seen shops that have, uh, organized very they reorganize their shop to be very clear about what the different items are on, what different categories they're in, they set up their categories very clearly their whole branding for the shop is representative of the maker, um, and that is one way to kind of keep them all in one place when you're putting a shop together like that, I really recommend that you kind of show the way that you have laid out to other creative people, maybe other, etc sellers, just to get an idea on how that's coming across to your customer there a lot of forums on, etc that you can go on to to ask for shop reviews and critiques just, you know, be ready for the truth when you do that, because people will be very blunt and tell you what they like and what they don't like about your shop. But if you want to improve your shop, it's a really great way to do it, but as faras multiple shops go and managing them, I really so just kind of focusing on some kind of work flow. You know, perhaps there's a certain day of the week where you focus on this shop and the other days you focus on this shop or maybe different times of the day. Um you know there's a way to sort of spread out your the way that you spend your energy on your etc shops you know, just like life. So so yeah it's it there's no one right answer for it it's definitely individual but again, if you do have different kinds of things in your shop try to make them at least cohesive from a distance that totally makes sense. Yeah. And how do you link your etc store to your website? So somebody had that question there is a tool called than etc many okay and actually don't covered in the content so thank you for mentioning it. It is on your admin page and on the left side there will be a little length that says etc many and that allows you to pull together a code that you can put into your website and it will actually put a little mini shop into your website page on gwen your customer clicks on any one of those pictures it will go directly to that listing in your shop. So it's a great tool to have for websites. Ok, so there are the little buttons and this is the button you click on tio to create a new listing which we're going to get to in a little bit I do want to point out these tiny tiny little words next to the sections manage this this is the link you click on to change anything in this category. So I, even as I was putting this together, I kept missing that because it's kind of a gray being, hopefully they'll make it a little darker, but that's, what you click on in order to make changes to these different sections. It's on the bottom, I thought this was really interesting. This tag section we'll get to tags in a bit, but in your listing, there are tags or key words that you associate with each listing, and in this list, it shows you how many of that particular tag pertains to how many listings, and this is a great way to kind of get an overview on what your ceo is focused on what you're customer what your key words for your customers are focused on. I just really like it from an information standpoint, so we're going toe organizer shop sections, the shots shop sections were really hard to say, show up on the side of your of your shop, and what they are are not only categories within your shop, but the shop sections themselves are key words. They are probable, searchable by the the search engines, so we want to make sure that the words that we use in our shop sections are our key words that bring people to our shops to get there. Totally different buttons this time, he goto listings, and then you go to your listings manager and down there on the bottom remember this because again I kept forgetting that it was here. Click on the shop sections area and it's going to take you to the pages that you can adjust them. You can have up to ten sections in your shop because their key words, if you can use all ten a really good idea, any time at sea gives you an opportunity to use keywords. Maximize the potential of those key words. So to add a section, obviously click on out of section inderal pop up just this really simple you just plug it in and and then click safe and that's it adds that shipping are the section to your shop. Um, that was clear, okay, good shipping profiles, so shipping profiles when you are putting your listing together, you want to let people know how they're shipping, how you're shipping is handled, so you'll go down to the shipping profiles, click on manage and you see here I actually have a bunch of different kinds of shipping profiles that I put together the flat rate priority standard ship being is kind of a first class if I send something really small, um, the international things, and then I also have this one that you know if I want to just upgrade somebody and I'm making his custom listing for them I just set up a no shipping charge shipping profile so that I can just easily click that instead of having to type in all of the stuff the shipping upgrades is also available here again I'm going to check that out when I'm improving my shop but it's definitely I really recommend that you checked that out when you're setting up your shop because I think it's a big improvement on the shipping that that as he's providing so you get to name you get to name it so you can pick it out of the list really easily and then you just fill in the blanks there all drop down drop down box is the processing time I recommend that you be very very realistic about this you know it does you no good to say that you're going to get it in one day finish it and ship it in one two, three days if the reality is it's a week or more you know from a customer point of view that they're going to buy it they're going to buy it if they know they're going to get it in a certain amount of time so maybe overestimate how many how much you're going to d'oh and then you feel in this part it ships to and you can everywhere else is kind of a catch all a phrase that you can if you're shipping internationally or outside of the country, you can just put the highest flat rate for your for that country for any country um and this is kind of anything too is look up shipping costs so as you're putting this section together, you're able to within etc find out how much the postal service is going to charge for any any distance or any location. Okay, so you just you can look it up by zip code you put in yes you your average package. Wait, um I personally have a flat rate for my things, but it's, because of my things are fairly lightweight. If you're a potter glassblower or something like that, you definitely want to be way more accurate about your shipping. You can even take some of your heaviest items and your lightest items packaged up the way he would ship it and you can even take it to the post office and they will help you with the weight and all of that kind of stuff. It takes time to get the shipping things together, but it definitely saves you time in the end because otherwise every single time you get an order, you're going to be trying to figure out how much it's going to cost and that's just not it's not a good use of your time okay, so they also let you look a flat rate options. I love priority mail. Flat rate. They have different sizes of boxes and it's, you know, up to a certain a lot of weight. Eso that's always an option. People always ask me, you know, should I charge actual ship being should I do a flat rate and honestly, it's, whatever is easiest for you. You know, the last thing you need is for every time you get a net see sale, too, just, like hate it, you know, all great. Now I have to go do this. They just make it easy on yourself. Sales tax set up. I'm here in washington state. We are required to charge sales tax for sales that are happening within our state. If we ship them to other people within washington state. So we have to put together a tax section, which is pretty involved on dh. It requires a lot of numbers in things on dh. We have to do a lot of research outside of etc to make sure that we're putting in the proper shipping rates and everything. So there's a lot of advice on how to make this easier, but overall it's a chore and it's, just something you have to do to make your business, um, legal

This is an an amazing class. It is great for beginners as well as those who have had their shop up for while. There is something new to learn for everyone on Etsy. Marlo's powerpoints are concise and clear. I was so glad to also get the ebooks so I can go back and review the course while I make changes to my store. I am able to bookmark and work through all the changes. Thanks for this course, Marlo and CreativeLive.
