Structure Evernote for Your Business
What we will start with is structuring you're ever notice you know that the challenge was ever notice that it doesn't really have for us very rigid structure like creep rebuild for us it's really up to us to create the structure that works for us in our businesses so that is the goal of this lesson and as a result he will be able to set up thanks properly and you are ever note so that you don't end up wasting time or feeling overwhelmed the queer that note once and tell you I find it so here's how you can create that structure first of all let's talk about different activities that you do on a regular basis in your business and you can just shout them out something that you do week in and week out in your business create a podcast episode fantastic social media posts excellent take notes for meetings absolutely writing wild posts great following up his clients excellent so these are really, really great examples of things that we we all do on a regular basis and if you are on online bu...
siness like for you it will be something like podcasting webinars writing block posts if you're a maker what you might be doing his trade shows or conferences or something like that so whatever you deal I suggest that you at first write down like all those individual activities and it's all that you can use I'm having so let I love is just sticky notes and right here you see that I did not feel them out like these are for you to fill out because depending on your type of business what you do you will have the larger category and then smaller stuff underneath it and usually the larger categories will be very similar it will be marketing client's financial administrative sales and underneath each one of them will be those individual activities that you are um you are engaging in on a regular basis and I suggest that you work with sticky notes first because you can just create this map off your business and then you can recreate it in ever note and we'll come back to how people use the structure in order to a structure you are evernote notes but let me quickly took about however note structures information so and you you might know that they're like the tiniest building block off ever note his notes and basically it works pretty much like this individual the chiefs of papers like whenever we organize like our physical documents we have sheets of paper that we put in folders and then we have this collection of boulders that we put our lives on our desk or in the drawer so in the very same manner ever note organizes its information so these individual pieces of paper are practically ur notes and the folders are notebooks and when you put them one on top of the other you get a stack stack off notebooks so this is exact same way that ever note structures in information within it and in addition to that you have tags and tax is pretty much like like a sick note so you can have because depending on like certain categories like what that document is you can have different sticky notes I said well what's your documents so something like this and some of the documents can have several sticky notes and what like one when you have those sticky notes in ur note in ever note will never use search for that tag ever note will bring you just the notes with those tax and that's what makes attacks so amazing is because basically they allow you to have your notes in several places at once so when just like with physical folders you can have a document just within that single folder the same he never note like your note can exist in one single notebook but with tags that note can live in sin several notebooks at once and that's way with tags ever know provides you this additional level of organization so going back to the structure that you created for your business when we talked about activities that you do in the regular basis how you can use it so with me go into my ever note and show you okay before we actually do that let me show you this temple in that you can use so if if you don't want to sit in front of this blank uh the sheet of paper or bored you can use already this simple structure that I have created for you with some ideas off what individual individual activities you can do in your business and how you can categorise them so you can whatever applies to you you will keep whatever doesn't apply you will erase if something I did not miss something that applies to your business you will add and once you have that the way that you can use it is the falling so let me go to my notebooks and you can see here that I created that exact structure right here so I have quiet management stuck basically you can see that here I have clients privacy policy question their testimony outside in my marketing stocks I have who are going direct outreach interviews keep in touch so basically when you have that structure each one of those individual activities can become its own notebook and then you can just drag there was no in books one on top of the other in order to create the stack so I can easily delete stack and it will just release those notebooks for you so don't be afraid to play with stax because like nothing will happen so you can see that the staff is raised but now these air no most kind of like a free floating on and you can just drag them one on top of the other in order to create a new stock so this is otis so that's why I suggest it's you play with that structure first and then see how you can recreate it directly and ever note with notebooks maybe if you do a lot of interviews or you need to differentiate like for example for melissa if you do past casting and you want to have you are different seasons for like season one podcasting season two maybe that will be individual notebooks and they will go into podcasting out stack that it's really it's up to you and you will just see how much information you have and how much information will be going under that umbrella so that's why I suggest that before you start adding your business related notes into ever note think about what type of information will be going in and how what will be that logical structure that you can create for those notes then you can always really teo like the physical world ok how would I organize a jessica in folders and then you can recreate that in every note so this is what you can do with notebooks and with tags you can do pretty much the same thing so you can see here that I have my business category and right here here is my exact same structure so I have products marketing financial if I opened one of them he will say that they open up into subcategories and I can even open up that one and look at individual tags under that sap category and this is the benefit of tags you can have an unlimited number of tax you never note and they were not provided this additional um element that you can actually messed tags like one on top of the other like several levels deep you cannot do that with notebooks you can have a stack that's oh you can have a note that sits in the notebooks that it goes into a stack that just like that's one level deep with tax you can go several levels deep and this this is why we're having a structure will be very helpful for you to to see ok like what tags do I have where those tags like actually go and then when you put a note into your ever note you will know how you can I'm actually where we'll be that place where you can put that note yes most yes so the nesting of the tags does that mean that like looking at your list here? Does that mean that if if I were to make a note and tag it guest appearances or if I were to just search for guest appearances, all the notes that are tagged two thousand twelve guests post two thousand thirteen guest post all all the nested tags will appear in that search in this specific case for me, everything, all the tags that have this, I'm calm in front of it, these air I can search for them, but I do not not to get all these individual tags under them so you can have different characters in front of the note. So if I, if I start searching for justice, come, then it will bring me everything that is stabbed with that tag. However, I didn't. In my case, the way I use it is just to create the structure for this individual notes that sit individual tags that sit under that category. But, yes, if you were to search for that, it will bring everything that I have under that category. So if if you were to search for guest appearances, it will bring every single note that's tagged one of the nest id tags. Correct. Okay, got it. Thank you, sure. So in the beginning, when you're just starting out, I suggest that you choose between, like whether your primary structuring the way you structure ur notes in notebook you are you do it either mostly with notebooks or mostly attacks so that you don't have those two the structures that for me I use mostly tags so that's where for me my tag in structure is more elaborate than notebook structure and uh the one that I have a note books this is just for just for presentation purposes you concede that there are no notes so to me tagging allows a bit more flexibility but if you feel more comfortable with notebooks stick with notebooks so you select one that is your leg primary structure and then the other one just helps you to organize you are you are notes a couple of words before about notebooks and and tax because you can have an unlimited number off tax make sure that you don't go crazy with them we'll talk about search in the lesson about how to search notes in ever noted but because you can and because you can search the body off the note as well think about what will make most sense for you make how it will be most useful to you to tag that note so if you can search for for keyboard that that's already in the body off that note you don't really use the same tag that will make it a bit obvious and you don't need that so think about the types of notes that will be going into your ever know based on the activities that you have in your business and then create you're attacking structure based on that and same goes with notebooks so what I would like you to take away from this lesson is that first create a structure for for yourself and use the template that you will have a link to him in the pdf guide and decide whether notebooks or tax will be your primary way off structuring notes in evernote and them transfer the structure that you've created for yourself into ever note and you can always change it it's it's it's okay if it's not something that you might not be using all notebooks or you might not be using old tax but as you at your notes you will see what actually applies to your business but and last but not least commit to maintaining this new structure and this can look as oh you set aside thirty minutes say every friday where you look through the notes that you've added throughout the week to make sure that they're either sit in the right notebook or they're appropriately tagged so that the structure that you create it actually gets maintained over the course oftime because as you will see once once we talk about getting information into ever note it is very easy tio add noting to ever note but the structure that we create we have to be able to rely on it and that's why? Having this sessions with ourselves where we go and look through the note that with added and make sure that they sit where they need to sit and ever note will be very important. And in the lesson about searches, I will show you how you can create this. This shortcut for yourself, too. To be able to do to do that's very quickly.

Wow! Natasha Vorompiova's Evernote for Mac course blew my mind! I've been using Evernote for years, but have always known I wasn't using it to its full potential. The tool is so open and unstructured, though, and I just couldn't wrap my head around how to use it more effectively. Natasha rolled back the curtain on HER very structured way of using the tool inside her own business, and exactly how to apply it to MY business. Her templates alone are more than worth the price of admission, plus I learned all kinds of tips that are already making my business so much more organized. She covers everything from task management and project management (and how to systematize with Evernote so you can bring in assistants EASILY) to customer relations management and more. If you use Evernote, you need this course!

Natasha shares some good ideas on how to set up systems for your business. While I do use Evernote for organizing my research and writing projects, I have instead applied her suggestions to what I currently use to manage my business -- Gmail, Gqueues, and Dropbox. I have been able to keep an empty inbox and never miss a task. Now I am working to set up and document for a VA to take over some of the tasks. The recommendations for how to do that are excellent.
