Document you Starting Stats
So, you're gonna review the current stats that you have, so you can measure your results throughout your whole campaign. And you wanna know, like, what is it that you wanna be monitoring, right? So, what do these stats look like? You wanna look at your engagement rate, the reach for each post. You wanna look at the impressions you're getting, which is how many times people are seeing that. What you also wanna look at is your follower growth and the demographics. So, you should be checking this weekly and you should be tracking it in a Google Doc, so that you can easily monitor it. Cause if you're guessing at what you're doing, and you're not looking at your data, you're launch isn't going to be as successful. So, there's four images that I'm gonna show you, which is the back-end where your Insights are, then I'm gonna go into my phone and physically show you guys on the screen, what you are probably missing in your stats. Cause every time I do a lesson and I teach on-stage, people are ...
like, "I didn't even know I could look there, and I could filter those!" Okay? So, when you open up your phone... Now you have to have a, number one, you have to have a business account in order for this to all make sense. If you don't have a business account, that's the first thing you need to do, is to change it to a business account. Once you do, and you tap on your Insight bar, it takes you to the back-end where you can look at the actions that were taken over a period of a week and you can look at your website clicks, your emails, your texts, there's so much there that you can see and if you continue to scroll down, you can look at your Reach and your Impressions. And the Reach is the number of accounts you reach for that week and the Impressions are the number of times that person has seen the actual post. And then, you can look at the Demographics. So, clearly, mostly women are following me and the age range is 25 to 44. And then, here, is where you can see where they're following you from. So, for those of you that don't have a business account, or you're like, "Wait, she said Insight bars? Where are they?" See to the right of the username, those three to four bars? That's where you look at your Insights, okay? So, when you tap on that... it takes you to the back-end... into your Insights, and that's what I was showing you with the screen-grabs and if you scroll down to where you see "Post". And then, it says "See More" and you tap on "See More". You can see all you're posts over the past year and your Impressions, but here's the filter, any of these blue hyperlinks where it says "All", "1 Year", or "Impressions", if you tap any of those three blue hyperlinks, it takes you in to where you can filter and you can look at your impressions. You can filter your photos, your videos, your Carousel posts your shopping posts, if you have that feature. You can filter your calls, comments, emails, engagement, followers. If you have a store and you're trying to get people to your store by gettin' directions, impressions, likes, photos... like, there's so many things that you can filter back here. By simply scrolling them and then you can imply, you can apply, the last seven days, 30 days, three months, six months, a year, or two years. So, you can really go back and you can look at your Impressions and which posts are getting the best engagement. And a lot of people didn't know this was back here. In the audience, raise your hand if you didn't know this was here. Okay, so, pretty much all of you, right? So, wasn't this worth the price of admissions? (laughter) Just to learn this? Right? Okay, the one other thing I wanna show you guys is under each post, you can also see your Insights. So, I'm gonna tap on the posts that all of you are gonna be double-tapping, commenting, and liking, and putting the hashtag on right here. When you tap under there, where it's blue, hyperlink, "View Insights", you can view your Insights for the post. So, if you want a quick snapshot of what's going on, you can look at your Likes, you can look at your Comments. Clearly, people are listening and they're writing comments there. You can look and see how many people have saved your post. So, 26 people have saved this post to a category, where unfortunately, you don't know who saved it yet, but I think that's coming for us. And then, how many profile visits I've received and what the reach was. So, these five metrics are good metrics to look at if you wann just tap under each post. Okay? So, while I'm here I'm just gonna give a shout out. Okay! So, let's give shout-outs to people that are all tuning in. This is great! Thanks, you guys! We've got some action on that post and that's exactly what I wanted to see. Okay, so, hopefully that helped you guys understand the Insights piece. You know when you had the different categories so, you could have a look at the weekly, monthly, three-monthly. Yes. Which of those categories do you feel is most beneficial to review? Yeah, so, I would look probably the three months before the launch and see what activity is going on. You know, as closer to the launch, like, two years out, you know, is a lot of data from before, but the most important thing to is to look and see what posts are getting the most engagement. Because, what you think is getting the most, like even the Saves, for me, like, when people are saving my photos, that's like a sign of, like... Okay, so, people on the internet, strangers on the internet, (laughs) are liking my posts, like, for a reason, like, and then that's something to take note of and, you know, it depends on what metric you're looking at but I know, believe it or not, with all my great photos that I show online, it's the quote. The inspirational quotes tend to get the most engagement because everyday people wanna be inspired. And people can read that quote as long as it matches up to your business and brand and, so, sometimes quotes are on mugs for me, cause that makes sense, right? So, how do you take the thing that's working and translate it more into an organic state to your business and brand? So, that message could be on a t-shirt, it could be on a mug You could write it on paper and you could be holding it up. So, you have to understand what it is that people are liking I know that was a long, convoluted answer but... No, that was great. Yeah, I just wanted to give more examples. Yeah, so periodically throughout your launch, you really wanna be looking at these numbers and making adjustments, like I said, where necessary. Because, what you think might be, like, it might be your favorite photo, but it might not be other people's favorite photo. So, the data doesn't lie, right? So, check in with that data and really look at it. So, let's recap. You wanna write down your starting stats before you do a launch. Because that's how you're gonna know how you've grown throughout the launch, right? And you really wanna review and track your metrics regularly I recommend once a week throughout your launch. And let your data and your insights guide your decisions, not your emotions.

Can I just say, "I LOVE Sue"! I took her three day course on CreativeLive back in January when I had finally decided that I didn't want to be the only photographer NOT on Instagram. I took that class knowing absolutely NOTHING about the platform and by the end of it, I was up and running. When I heard that she was doing a new class, I knew I had to see it. By the end of the day my head was exploding with information. There are so many new things on IG that I am already WAY behind the times and have so much work to do. Sue delivered the course in true Sue form - highly entertaining and energized. The examples of successful businesses that she uses are so inspirational and make you feel like, "Yes! It IS possible!!" I am sooooo glad I own the course, because there is no way I could get the full benefit from just watching it once. I will be going back to this class MANY times as I develop as an Instagrammer!

I love Sue's energy and her passion for her work is contagious. She is animated and articulate, making learning about Instagram not only fun, but inspiring. I found her tips to be very intuitive and easy to implement if you have the desire and drive to take your Instagram to the next level. I'm at a point where I've grown my Instagram to a respectable amount (13K), but I want to take it to the next level, so I'm doing a one-on-one consultation with her. I really appreciate all the work she's done into creating a program to uplevel your Instagram game.

Amazing class, super helpful for understanding how to make your Instagram work for your business. And Sue B is engaging and fun to listen to. But make sure you have a pen and paper ready, because there's so much important information you're going to want to write it down! I'm about to start again from the beginning and this time take notes!
