Class Overview
Hi everybody. Welcome to lighting with constant light. I am Mark Wallace and this is an exciting, exciting class. I'm so ready to teach you all about this stuff that you see behind me. We're gonna be doing some really fun exercises and its hands on. Um well before I tell you all about how the class is sort of structured and what we're gonna cover, I want to introduce you to some groovy people. So we have a team of people that are helping me out. And so we have Theresa our model, we have Hannah, our director of photography and Sierra, our producer. But I don't want to just show you their names. I want you to meet them in person. So they're going to come out here right now and I want to sort of introduce you to them because you're gonna be seeing them hopping on and off camera. Here is here. There you are. And so I'll scooch this way this way. Yeah, good. So, down here this is Sierra. Hello, Sierra is producing our show. She's behind controlling all of the different cameras and turning t...
hings on and off. So I might say Sierra, make sure you go to my PowerPoint or something. So if you see me talking to Sierra, you won't see her. But that's who Sierra is. This is Theresa, She's our model. You probably recognize her from some videos we've done on a drama tv. And even my very first, I think youtube video digital photography of one on one. You were the very, very first model way back into the river. So yeah, it was a while ago. Yeah, google it, you'll see us way back when we were young and I wasn't great. It's cool. All right. And over here this is Hannah, she is going to be uh, she's our director of photography. She's gonna be running all the cameras and stuff. You will see her popping on and off screen as we're zooming in to show you details of dials and controls and all that kind of stuff. And also when she's off screen, I might be talking to her. So again, if I'm saying, hey Hannah, it's Hannah all right here this year. So this is the team, They are really making all of this stuff happened. I'm here sort of just along for the ride. So I'm very honored to be working with all of you. It's gonna be a fantastic class now. Please go away. Okay, so let's talk about this class and what we're gonna be doing in this class, it is structured in a very specific way. So there are different segments, different class segments and you can jump around as you need. And so if you look on the class page and you see already know about like modifiers but I really want to know about the clamshell lights set up, but I want to do this, you can just jump around and so it's set up that you can sort of do that. If you're new to lighting and new to constant light and this is brand new to you. You haven't had any experience, it's probably best just to go straight through in order and that will work, but you can always go back and and look at your favorite parts. The other thing that this uh this class is set up to do is in the early sessions that the first part of this class we're going to be going through all of the technical stuff and so it's the principles of light and then the later sessions, what we're going to be doing is we're gonna be putting those principles into practice with our lighting setup. So it's first, here's how and why this thing does this thing, this is why this works, this is why this works, this is what this does, this is how you control this, that's all that technical stuff. And then later when we're just setting up lights all just be saying, okay, said it this way and you'll know how to set it this way, because you've watched all of that stuff, It's really, really cool. Okay, so um after all that, I also want to show you a couple other things, just so you get an idea of what this studio looks like. So we have a camera pointing to the sky here and um the other camera pointing to this guy here, the there we go, okay, so we have uh lights here illuminating me. One of the challenges with this class is it's a class about constant light and we're filming it using constant light. And so we have to light the video to show you how to light the stills. And because it's constant light, the video lights will interfere with the lights that we're using for photography. And so all these lights in the sky here, you might be seeing them turning on and off. We just have to do that because that's how we can show you what we're doing. So, don't get confused if you see like this light up. Well, you can see, yeah, these lights up here, if you see these guys in the frame, they are just the lights that are making me show up on camera. So, we turn those off, I will go dark and you won't be able to see anything. So, we've got lights to illuminate the lights. And then the other lights illuminate Teresa. And yeah, you'll catch on really quickly. All right, so, uh that is our class. It's gonna be a blast. And so the next thing we need to do is dive right in and that's what we're gonna do right now.

This is a very useful class for who want to start shooting video or photo with constant light. Creative Live should make more class on videography.
