3rd Party Primes: Zeiss
Switching over to zeiss, which means german lenses that are manual focus, and so they make a number of just beautiful primes, and we're not going to go into each one of them, so I'm just going to bring them all up one time they can all come out and take a bow. These lenses like this, I would just say the same thing about all of them it's, manual focus, it's really sharp and the manual focus feel of focusing is buttery, smooth, beautiful, it's fantastic on here. So all of these lenses are really good for anyone that doesn't mind manual focusing, and so they make a number like an eighteen nikon doesn't have an eighteen they used to have in eighteen, but if you really wanted in eighteen, this would be a great place to look at it. Beautiful eighty five one fours and twos. We're going to talk about a few more their lenses a little bit more in detail when we get to the macro lenses, but some really great stuff is on the more spendy side, so most of their lenses are a thousand dollars to two ...
thousand dollars a few of them are less than a thousand dollars there are two specials iceland's is that we should talk about. They have funny names the otis so the otis lands is a special lens that zeiss recently came out with and their goal was to create the best standard lands in the world they said okay, no rules were going to do whatever it takes to make the best standard lens in the world and we want to make it a fifty millimeter lands and they figured out that it can't be fifty if we want to make it the best we're going to make it a fifty five to make it optically just the sharpest thing out there and so this lens has been selling quite well with nikon d eight ten and eight hundred users people who have thirty six megapixels and they want as much quality as possible now this is a two point three pound lands this is a shot put of a lens it is a very heavy big land this is not what you want to be walking around in a large city for hours and hours and our this is something that a lot of times people will be using in the studio for photography you know if you're going to be photographing a ferrari with the d a ten this is probably the lens that you might want on that and so it compares a little bit with the fifty eight one four but look at the price you do pay a very pretty price for this lands and so this was the first of their otis siri's. The next lens that they came out with is they wanted to create the best short telephoto in the world. And so for somebody who wants the ultimate, in short, telephoto sharpness, the eighty five one four is going to do that. Now, if I haven't mentioned it before, the fifty five, eighty five are manual focus lenses, and so there is no auto focusing on this. They have created lenses that have been tested and verified, as these are the best that you can, that you can possibly by and for people who really want the highest resolution. They are selling quite well. I mean, these or not, but you're going to find around the streets most of the time, but they are out there. There are people who are using these, and they're just fantastic quality, absolute, fantastic quality.

Outstanding class! This is a must own. You will refer back to this class many times during your photog career. John has put a ton of work into this class and it shows. Being able to download the slides and other Nikon glass info is wonderful. Even if you're not a Nikon shooter you will still gleam tons of information from this class, John covers in great detail the strength and weaknesses of each lens and when you might consider using it. I was expecting a good class, but this turned into an epic class. I watched multiple videos several times. The only bad thing I can say is I "had" to order a few more lenses! Thank you John Greengo for making a truly amazing class.

Wow! What a course! Very in depth, lots of valuable information. John instructs with great knowledge and integrity. I have taken other online courses, NOT from Creative Live (my bad!) and was left feeling like a monkey who had learned tricks without understanding or knowledge. Now I feel I have the confidence to move forward on my photographic journey securely knowing how lenses function, what to look for and what price range I can expect. Bravo John! I'd love to see a 2020 update video as an addendum.

Finally I have some sense of what lens do, know what I have, what I would like to have, what lens to use, and how I can get images that I see. Best part of this session is it was made so clear, simple, logical, and practical. I am glad that I purchased this product. Now, I am going to look for more from John Greengo so I can take better understanding and take better images. Thank You.
