it's funny when I ask most people what is the definition of negotiation? A lot of time people have this very negative, scary mindset there, like it's fighting about money, it's a heated discussion, it's stressful, it's a difficult conversation. A negotiation happens when I lose money, right. I want to reframe it and a negotiation simply for our terms and how I want you to go into this mindset is a discussion aimed at reaching agreement and this is critical, good negotiations, the right negotiations are about trying to get to win win. Typically if something isn't working and someone feels like they're behind or they're losing something, a negotiation could actually get you to both be in a win win scenario. And so I approached all my negotiation, this was a game changer in terms of my mindset, in that one I can do, I can learn this skill, this is something that I didn't come actually, but I can do better and I can learn it and second this is going to get us closer to agreement. we talk about, My goal is to have us both leave as winners. That is a complete game changer because you're not going into it as tit for tat you versus me. We're actually going into it as how could it be you and me and we both walk out like, high fiving each other if we both compromised a little bit, but we both feel like we're winning.
