Strategic Relationship Day
welcome to today's lesson strategic relationship day. So, yes, relationships can be built very strategically. And here is why this matters for your confidence. Because remember we all talking about confidence. The more people who like you, the more people who talk favorable about you, the more people who know you, the better it is for your career and for your confidence because come on, is it? Are they ever too many people who say good things about you? So that's the idea about building your relationships very strategically. So right now I'm going to take you through some of the basics that go into building this relationship. First, I want you to build a network and that network off relationships. Imagine it's like throughout your entire organization. It's really easy for people to just sort of stay within their department or within, you know, the floor that they're on, and they forget that there's a whole other aspect off your organization that you need to be paying attention to, and ...
that you can learn from and the reason this matters and we'll talk about this one. Another lesson is because future opportunities may not just come from the very department you're in. They may actually come from the network that you spread throughout the organization. The second part is, how about you showing some curiosity about other people? It's very easy to complain that other people are not noticing you by. What about you? Are you actually paying attention to everybody else? Are you asking questions? Are you asking them what they're doing? What they love about their job? So that's part off relationship. Building one No. One is to show genuine interest in everybody else. The next point is a long term strategy. I just mentioned that the network throughout the organization is required for a long term Korea plan. Why? Because you never know where people are going to. You never know who they know. You never know who is needed on the team that they're going to be ad. And it may just be you because they remember how absolutely fabulous you were the last time. Next item on our list off basics to cover is why don't you just think about utilizing professional tools? And I'm thinking about simple things like Lincoln. Make sure you got your profile and order. Make sure it sounds interesting make sure that you make it engaging and don't make it. I central where every sentence your ride starts with. I I make sure it actually includes the teams you worked on in some of the accomplishments that you had together without the people just makes you sound a little bit more interesting. If I may, I just say that. And then when you engage in Lincoln, make comments and other people's ah profiles or the posted they're doing and when you connect with them, don't just accept the connection but actually make a comment. One of the comments I make when somebody connects with me, I say What lights you up? And I ask that because it's a personal question and they can take it any way they want. They can take it, you know, in their career they can take it personally, can make it about the mission. So that's just one of my tricks that I would like to share with you, because you might find that helpful in just getting sort of in that group off building that all important relationship. Next item on my list is lunch maximizing launch time. Yes, I just said lunchtime And here's why. During lunch, people take a break from the day so they let their guard down. They walk oftentimes out of the office, or they walk out of their office itself into another area off the building. And the expectation is not to continue working. But it is to just relax. It's a great time to make personal connections. So for today, on your list is to go to lunch with somebody new, and I want you to go to maybe a completely different apartment in the organization, even if you have to go in search, who that might be and just say, Hey, I don't know enough about your organization about this department in our organization, but I would like to learn more. Would you be open to maybe have lunch with me one day or today? And let's just talk about what your organization does, and that brings me to today's action to your call to action. I want you now to go to Page number four in the workbook, and I want you to fill out the top portion. What exactly are you going to do? What is the way you're going to get there? Who are you going to be, friend? How are you going about the relationship building? And then I want you to think about the different people. And if you can identify the people quite yet, think about the departments that might be interesting for you to learn about and find people and connect with them and asked him out for lunch. And when you completed with this lesson, please proceed to the next one. Thank you for today.
