Preliminary Sketches of Different Products
all right. In this first phase, I am going to talk about the creation of preliminary sketches. They're different techniques of doing them. The main thing would be to most important thing. Let's guess tohave fun. How do you if you don't have fun, you don't have the right mindset. Um, these are old drawings that I date a while ago coming up with a finger with a pen that you would hold in your in your finger and you would draw constantly that would be constantly attached to your finger so you would flick it to put it out of the way and then flick it back and then draw with it. So these are some preliminary sketches that we can use to really get to get going. All right, so I did this. And typically, what do you usually do when you rent? When you draw Preliminary sketches would be to use non photo blue pencil, the non photo blue pencil and its I pencil. That would not really for a copy. It allows you to kind of create your layer zero. Let's say we were working in for a shop that would be yo...
ur layer zero. You can do some preliminary. We call them construction lines using non photo blue, knowing that they will barely show up if you for a copy again, they will not show. Hey, it allows you to kind of create some preliminary shapes, and then later you can go and modify them. Those outlines using some black pencil and then markers and black pens, and so on. So preliminary preliminary sketches. It's a good thing that you do a lot of them, not just one or two. This is very important, Um, in product design. That's an industrial designer. You have to bear in mind that once we start the manufacturing process, the client will have to invest heavily on machinery and production methods so that your design would be made. You know, we're talking off thousands of dollars, hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even so, it's important that you lock on an idea that you are sure you want to develop. Otherwise, you cannot really say Okay, well, let's stop here. No, I don't like this. Let's start from zero. It doesn't work that way, right? So it's very important to have that in mind, and it's a testament. I just show. I'm sure showing very some of the sketches that I did in the past for just one Penn. And this is just did us. We would say the tip of the iceberg. Uh, I did hundreds of drawings and you would be doing the same thing. Hundreds of drawings, not dozens, but hundreds until you get your right shapes. All right. You want to be absolutely certain that you got the shapes that you want. Typically, the sketches are done using newsprint paper. Just this one here. It's very inexpensive, and it allows you to work really fast. The only drawback would be that if you use a lot of markers, they will dry out very soon. To avoid that way have different brands of markers. We have four over here out of these four. If you know that you're going to be using markers on New Sprint, you might want to use these brand, which is co pick because it is refillable. So instead of spending your money on these and then tossing them away, you keep this one. But then you buy another container and then you refill it. And could you expand to life over these markers. So there's one event that you're using. Um, another solution would be to just use markers on the preliminary stage, which is the examples that we see here. We have some just pencil is this is, for example, a saw quick ideation using China markers. Some new sprint china markers are this holding China markets. But they are pencils that instead of having your regular wood on the outside, they're made of paper on the outside and you have a little threat over here that you pull down and then you just unravel it. This is very fun. If these lands in the hands off a toddler, you will they will unravel the whole thing down versus just very fun to use. So these are done using this. Obviously, this is kind of ridiculous is too long, and it would probably break over here, but you can dio quick sketches. Just using these are New Sprint, Okay, And that's what you see over here. And then regular pencil just using pencils on top. Just another sketch using black markers, some marker over here, off a backpack, just very quick just to get an idea down, all right. And this is another example, off another backpack, in this case with a person. The reason why put this person on was to get sense off scale. You know, once we have the person, we have an exact idea on how the Pap backpack would be used. Oh, it's a single sling, right? And it's more help, you know, for it kind of indicates more the type of audience. You know, this looks like a young guy. Long hair, Hansen to pocket kind off casual. You know, that gives me an indication of the type of years so that we would have, which is something that you want to have always in mind. Um so quick ideation using pencils, some white out for highlights on New sprint. Super cheap, but wonderful.
