Free Video: Corey's Kit Video

I'm corey rich. What I wanted to do is show you kind of my basic kit if I need to go in the field to shoot video and stills simultaneously, what am I going to bring? It starts with a low, pro flipside sport twenty leader. What I like about this backpack is the front pouch is actually aiken store papers, folders, filters, anything that's extra that I might want to bring into the field, but the beauty of this pack is that I can actually set it down on its face, and it opens from the rear so it's a rear entry pack. The beauty of that type of the pack is you're not going to set it down in the mud and enough to put that back back back on your back. So my camera choice, I'm going lightened fast, and if I'm trying to do it in an affordable format. It's, the nikon d six hundred full frame sensor, high resolution still image content uh, high resolution still images and full hd video seventeen to thirty five millimeter lens f two point eight so great all around camera for video and stills and ul...

tra lightweight I like that a lot about the camera I'm really going light and fast a ce faras my second lens, it's the seventy two, two hundred millimeter f four lens with v r f four but impressive v r and a lot less weight than a seventy two hundred two point eight just tack sharp razor sharp, in fact, so that's my second lens if I'm going to carry a third lens into the field, it's this lens, the fifty millimeter at one point four beautiful lens maybe one of my favorites definitely a top three lens love shooting pretty close, toe wide open f to f one point eight on dh for video this really key limbs that allows me shoot in low light, so if I'm shooting around a fire from shooting indoors or from shooting at sunset, sunrise allows me to really work the situation in a video environment. Um, a couple of other key tools that I bring, I always carry two motorola walkie talkies with me, and this is simply so that I can communicate with other other guys that are helping the crew or the talent that I'm photographing and I put rechargeable batteries in these guys in the event I can get back to a hotel room at night and recharge. If not, I'll bring some spare, non rechargeable batteries I always like to have a little bit of fuel in the worst case scenario is you start breaking down as a photographer. Or camera operator you're getting tired, you're losing focus, you just need to get some calories in your body will throw clif bar or two in my bag. The other thing I never want to run out of his card space all carry a low pro card wallet and inside of that card wallet, you're going to see that I have a variety of cf cards for the d six hundred it's actually all sd card so that's, my second page here and I use sandisk extreme pro cards sixty four gig he's, their large high capacity cards fast reading, right speed. That way I can be certain that I'm really capturing the content, not running out of space memories cheap don't take the shortcut on memory because you don't want to lose that content so low pro card, wallet with shooting video sometimes any delight a scene I use this light panels chroma it's by color so I can actually go to tungsten where I can toggle into daylight so I can light the situation indoors with led or outdoors in low light. This gives me the ability of continuous lighting, which is the key I can't use strobes when I'm shooting video this is very important one is an onboard microphone, this isn't a nikon emmy one what's really great about this microphone actually that's one it's very short so it's easy to put on top of the cameron, you're not banging into things it's, not one of those overly long shotgun likes it has flat and low cut settings, but more importantly, it's bus powered. So once you plug this microphone into the camera, you can't accidentally have a dead battery thing is goingto work, so anyone is definitely my favorite little shotgun like that goes on top of the camera. Um, three objects that are really critical, some lens cleaning fluid, some lens cleaning tissue and this is just a little brush that actually allows me to get dust off the lens. A still photographers we can get pretty lazy about this stuff when you're shooting video. If that little grease smudges on the front of your lens, you're going to hate yourself later when you get into post production so that's it that's my basic kit, and with this amount of gear on my back and one man photo tripod, this thing's been around the world about a dozen times with their little seven o one head. This is this is a great video tripod system, carbon fiber legs, this low pro backpack with my d six hundred months configuration you're in business to make some pretty cool content, both still in motion, so there it is, there's, the corey rich kid

You should know that this class is from 2013. This isn't made evident anywhere I can see in the description. The content is good, but dated in regard to much of the tech. Corey Rich and his crew are very clearly trying hard to wring as much goodness as possible out of their time to provide value. I'm not so happy that I paid $34 for the course last week, discovered it was over 7 years old, and now it's only $12. For $12 it is an excellent investment. I'd purchase again for $34, but I'd hold CL in higher esteem if they'd been honest about the creation date, and didn't drop the price by so much right after I paid for it.

This is awesome, I love his way of teaching. All the information from planning and creating the shots and videos, the commercial part of dealing with your clients small and big, how to be creative thinking of your "feets". He is funny and very very informative. Well done.
