Let's Make a Vlog
Are you guys ready to see making a vlog in action? (audience agreeing) Yes. Okay cool. So first I want everyone in here and at home comfortable vlogging. Like right now. Like immediately, okay? So here is what we're gonna do. We're gonna just get started right away. Everybody please pull out your smartphone device and open it up to the video camera option. Now if you don't want to use your smartphone that's fine, just use whatever you have and I'm looking at you guys at home please use that smartphone and do it right now with all of us, we're gonna do this together. So it feels a little bit less weird 'cause we're doing it as a group. Now remember, if you're not doing it I see you. (audience laughing) Get your camera out and I know, I'm posing just in case you're pointing that camera at me. I know. I want it to be on you and I want you to hit record and repeat after me. Ready? ere. I have something very important to tell you. I have something very important to tell you. You can stop recording now. Congratulations. You've just made your first terrible vlog. (audience laughing) Isn't that exciting? Now what I want you to do and you at home as well, share it. Right now. (laughing) Because you're starting a conversation. You're showing people right now that you plan to show up. That you do have something interesting to tell them. That they should subscribe to you because you are going to vlog like a boss. That was the first step. There'll be many more terrible vlogs to follow that. But they get to see your face. They get to hear your voice. You feel a little less weird because you did it as a team effort here. But that was it. That was the first step. Looking at that lens. Get it out there. You know how many videos I've published that I was like (sighing) I'm gonna publish this on the internet right now? You have to get past hitting the publish button, the post button for you to get better. It's very easy for you to start filming and watch it back and then like cry and puke a little in your mouth and then like delete the file. That's not learning really. That's just tapping into some insecurities. You will learn if you've done your job to deliver the content to your community if you hit publish but if they never see it you can't get better.

CreativeLive users, I attended this course live and have to say it was very engaging. The relatability factor was extremely high, the points that were made were relevant and very doable. Great presentation, specifically the storyline outline, the gear info, using social media to drive people to you, the analytics part, and the conversation about how to get over your fear of the camera. I was humbled by Amy's personality and excited by her passion for her field. Her accompanied by her team at "AfterMarq" did a wonderful job. What a privilege to have been fortunate to attend.
