How to Sell the Wedding Album to Your Clients

So we start this album, it's the album of George and Rema. Incredible wedding, this. And I would start by saying, guys, we always need a beautiful intro shot to the wedding. It would look a bit weird if we just started with you, Rema, or just you, George. We need a beautiful shot of the two of you. George, the back of your head here looks amazing. So, let's start with that, yeah. And there's always that bit of banter that goes back and forth. And then use the day of the wedding, put onto the front page, and then we get into all the beautiful bride's details. And I'll say to Rema, Rema, oh my God, the details you had on that day, phenomenal. Look at that dress. The dress is stunning. Your ring, oh my God, I could have knocked myself out with your ring, it was that huge, yeah? Through to all the beautiful shoes, flowers, and of course, we need to remember all this stuff, guys, because, hey, let's face it, you're never gonna go back and do it again, are you? There's all these cues that I'...

m saying to them. That, this is your chance, guys. You have no other chance to do this. This is your chance. I'll say to them, guys, isn't that a beautiful page? What will you say in response to me? Yeah, it is. That's what I'm looking for. Every time you can get someone to say, yes, they're mentally buying it. So, it's yes. Rema, we just, these shots of you are just so stunning, darling. We've got the beautiful ring shot with the hands, and delicately putting on your earrings, the perfume bottle, and then look at that gorgeous smile. I could just tell how happy you were on that day. Isn't that an amazing page? Yes, Ryan, yeah? Oh my God, the girls, far out. They just looked, they looked incredible. Oh, I don't know how you found their dresses, but they're amazing, and I can just feel the energy between you girls here. It's really gorgeous, wouldn't you agree? Yes. Yep. Mom and dad are just, you know, having those shots of mom and dad are going to be priceless, aren't they, in 20, 30 years time. And having that page of them, isn't that gonna be a beautiful thing to show your kids. Yes, it is, Ryan, yeah. Oh my, how can you ignore these shots? Look at how much fun there was there. This is a huge Lebanese wedding. If you haven't been to a Lebanese wedding before, oh my God, bring your earplugs. But they're so much fun to do, they really are. They're so much fun to do, there's so much energy, and this is a very emotional time, as well, for the bride and her parents as she leaves their house. As she leaves their house, it's a very culturally emotional time. We come to the church. Just, oh, that shot of the back of your dress, Rema, it's freaking me out, because it's just got so much detail in it, it's crazy. The little girls there, George, you look like you're about to lose it, like you're just, oh my God, look at your face there. And then, of course, we bring it in with you and dad, darling. But George, I could see that nervousness disappear as we went into here. And come through the church, all those beautiful moments of the church, and the grandness of it all. I mean, guys, this is going to be something to remember forever, isn't it? So, you get the idea of it. Do I have to do every page with you? (laughs) But, I mean, look at it. We've got energy, smiles. We've got, of course, the traditional moments of a wedding. George, you're signing your life away there, mate. (audience laughter) And guys, I could just feel the happiness as you exited the church. I mean, that's probably something you'll never forget, will you? Ah, yeah Ryan, I know, yeah. Gorgeous, we've got all the formalities done here, with bridal party, family members, the girls, the guys, I mean, all those important people surrounding you on that day. Like, what a phenomenal thing. I just think, man, we've gotta have these moments. It's really, they're part of the day, hey. Yeah, they are, yeah. And guys, you just, you cracked me up. I could feel the energy between you. The funny thing about this wedding, I had literally about seven minutes to do all these shots, but anyway. (laughs) So, the fact that I got any of this was incredible. But, look at her smile there. And I'll say to them, guys I can't remember what we were saying at the time, or anything like that, but God, it must have been funny. Geez, but that smile, darling, it's picture perfect. We're bringing it into the reception now, and just tying it. I mean, the gardens at your reception center, wow. They were just phenomenal, yeah? And we went into this cellar and had a bit of fun there. I mean, geez, to remember what you did with that reception, and how it's all come together, oh, please. We're getting into the nitty gritty of it now here. Yeah, that's what I said. (laughs) Yeah, when you walk into a reception, and the roof is like that, it's pretty crazy. Absolutely, pretty crazy. So, I mean, all these details, guys. Diane did just such a phenomenal job at this. Diane's the wedding planner. Diane did just a phenomenal job putting this all together. You guys must've had a helping hand. And yeah, we did, we picked out those little tulips, right. Phenomenal, guys. Just, can you imagine, this is something, again, 80 years time, my God, this is the wedding of the century. Crazy times. And we want to bring you into that, as well. Look at that environment, yeah? 45 million chandeliers, it's crazy. Getting to all the fun, the festivity. If you've ever been to a Lebanese wedding, you know they dance a lot, they have fun, there's so many moments to capture, and I always want to say, to George and Rema, there's so many moments in your wedding to capture. Really, we're just gonna bring these strongest parts together. And these strongest moments, and really show them for what they are. That's a good idea, isn't it? Just show the really good ones, yeah? Yeah, 'cause guys I could have built so many more pages, like really. Like, there could've been 40 pages just dancing. But, George can't get past that one. And look, darling, with your granddad there, and grandma giving you a hug, I mean, geez. You're lucky to have them, they're lucky to be there. Into the speeches (laughs). And John's such a character, I know John for a long time, and he just makes everything so fun. I can see all the energy here. George, again, sort of crapping your pants doing your speech, but you did good, mate, and really, you want to remember that moment for the rest of your life, don't you? Cutting the cake, bridal waltz. We've got all these beautiful things happening. We've decided to go black and white here, guys. Just only, because there is so much color in these shots, that we really need to concentrate the eye on where we want you to go, and what we want you to look through. So, black and white here is a great choice for these, wouldn't you say? Yeah, we would, Ryan. But then, my God, the moment of the night. Bang. Went off like a bang, didn't it? Crazy. Yeah, and geez, I was lucky to be in the right position at the right time. Just to have the cake there, part of it all, fireworks going off. George, you're rocking it out, man oh man, people are going to get to this page in the album, and they're gonna be like, wow. We need to tie all this together now. We need to finish this off. And there's some beautiful shots of everyone enjoying themselves on the dance floor through that first set. That saxophone player, God he was good. It was really good through your first dance, and love this shot of you guys with mom and dad. What am I doing there, is that? (exhales deeply) I've explained shots that they already know, yeah? They already know that that's mom and dad, but I've just reaffirmed it to them that they really need that. And guys, what we want to do right at the very end is, we want to leave people with a wow, with a moment that really brings this home, brings it all together. Could you have said no to me? No. That's an 80 page album, yeah? An 80 page album. If you can't say no to me, imagine what they're feeling. It's their wedding. This is not your wedding. (laughs) So, bring it across with passion. It's gotta be real, though. It has to be real. You have to bring up real things. You have to remember what happened. Writing those notes, those notes of what happened and why they chose that, and why they chose this, is so, so important to when it comes to this sales process. And if they've bought 20 pages off me, and I'm trying to sell them another 60, in my studio that's $6,000. That's a lot of money for anyone, I don't care who you are. That's a lot of money to spend, after you've probably spent most of your money already on the day. Now, if they still have a problem with the price, I remind them of one thing. I say to them, guys, how much did you spend on your bartender? And they'll tell me, and most people will tell me. And most people, it's a lot of money. Yeah, unless they didn't drink at all that night, it's a lot of money. I said, do you realize, guys, that that money literally went down the drain that night? Yeah? I usually insert another word there. I'll let you fill it in. Do you realize that that money literally went down the drain that night? This, this is with you for the rest of your life. Put a value on it, now. Yeah? Some people spend more money on the cake, they do. And the cake is eaten, and sometimes not even eaten that night, yeah? The album is the tangible product of all of those months of work, of all of that money, and the only thing that's left, the only thing that people can show. So, you still tell me that a USB is more powerful than an album? I wouldn't say so.

WOW!!! I have started a few CL courses but not finished as I got distracted by "life" and it took me a while to get back and finish them. But these guys!! They were simply superb. I finished this course really fast. Amazing artists, they explain things so well, Ryan is such a charmer and engaging teacher, Rocco is a fountain of knowledge. I am an enthusiastic photographer with aspirations to start my own business soon. I learn't so much from this class that will help improve my photography even if I don't become a professional wedding photographer. Great job guys, keep it up. I will need to come back to the lessons and I very much appreciate the key note pdf. All CL courses should include the slides like they did here. Thanks CL.

Ryan & Rocco, in my very humble opinion, are THE best wedding photography instructors in the entire industry! I've been watching their work for years now, which just so happens to win a most grand-scaled competitions, and they somehow continue to keep getting better! I first drilled Ryan at WPPI inquiring about what made his workshop different from all the others. His response, me paraphrasing, "If you're looking for tools to learn, come to my workshop. If you're looking for inspiration and smoke blowing, don't come." That's exactly what I needed to hear. Straight tools, no fluff. THE BEST photography workshop I've EVER taken, by far. You want the best photography education, learn from the best. This CreativeLive workshop is the PERFECT complimentary refresher and companion to what I learned! Thank you so much for having them! It's not the same as the workshop, which it shouldn't be, but they ARE reinforcing many things that have slipped my memory! I'm for sure buying this! :-)

I am a newborn photographer by trade, but I really want to venture out and photograph more weddings so I decided to purchase a wedding class on creative live. Of course when I typed in wedding, quite a few classes came up. But when I saw the image and title "capture the story" I was definitely intrigued. I've always been touched by the photographs that have emotion and that's what I'm passionate to photograph! Always a little nervous when you purchase a class because you don't want to feel like it was a waste of money, but this knocked it out of the park for me! Thank you to Ryan and Rocco for explaining so much, showing the pull backs, and moving your subject and explaining why! This has opened my eyes so much to how beautiful photographing a wedding can be and not so terrifying as I've been making it out to be. I'm really so thankful to hopefully being a great wedding photographer and making more income for my family, while having fun creating something beautiful
