Class Introduction
This is course is actually meant as a deep introduction to Adobe Muse. We're gonna cover a lot of things, we've got a lot of ground to hit, and we are gonna create a responsive website as we learn, or go through, Adobe Muse. I wanted to just mention who this class is for. If you are looking to learn Muse, and you're lookin' to really learn Muse, and really see all the things that it can do, at least most of the things that it can do, this is the class for you. For Marketers, for Print Designers, Web/UI, I mean, I actually use Muse sometimes for UX Design, that type of thing, I mean, prototyping let's say, or what's called Wireframing. You can use it to create websites, that's it's whole job. I mean, we create websites that are published out there, on different hosts, and Adobe hosting, et cetera. So, it's for the beginner, but if you have experience, you'll probably benefit. There's a lot of things we're gonna look at today, so. We are gonna cover, this is kind of just a quick bullet l...
ist of what we're gonna cover. We're gonna cover creating a site, we're gonna add pages, talk about, you know, children and parent pages, hidden pages, et cetera. We're gonna configure site settings and talk about those, because we want to focus as well on SEO, and different things like that to optimize the site that we create, and we publish later on. We're gonna add master page elements. We're gonna talk about masters and just a lot of different ways we can work with them. We're gonna go through responsive design in Adobe Muse, and we're gonna have plenty of time to be able to kinda discuss and ferret that out, and there's a few little things and tips that you can use to help you make sure that your site works, and we will also discuss what responsive design is, don't worry. We're gonna add images, different types of images. We're gonna have Photoshop file, different things like that. We're gonna add text, talk about text styling, creating styles. Understand and add widgets. We're gonna go a little widget crazy, we've got a lot we can add; try and reign it in a little bit, that's the cool stuff basically. We're gonna add links, we're gonna add a contact form, and then we're gonna test and publish. Now, I put test at the end here, that's actually kinda silly 'cause we're gonna probably want to go through and at least look at it in our browser, look at it on a device, that type of thing, as we're going through it, and I'll show ya, at the end, how we can do that. So what can you do with Adobe Muse? Well, what I would first suggest doing is take a look at this website called musewidgets.com, and this is the site-of-the-day. It's a great site, it really is. It's gonna give you an idea of a lot of the different types of sites that you can create, and you'll be pleasantly surprised, there's some amazing work out there, and just different things, and one of the things I wanted to mention is that Muse is a site builder, we can do it visually, we're not writing code, we're not going in there and doing that. We can use it to place content, move it around, figure out how it's gonna look on different screen sizes. We can incorporate slide shows, you know forms, social media content, et cetera; different things we need to add or want to add to our site, and we can even take Muse further. If we can't do something in Muse, it's maybe not capable of it, they're a lot of third party people, or third parties out there, that will actually create widgets, and different things that we can bring in to Muse, to expand what it can do, there's a lot, and musewidgets.com is a great place to go to to see a lot of those. Some are free, some are paid, but a lot of people put hard work in to those because they are doing things that we may not be able to do in Muse, but it's usually things that we want to do today, okay. So check out that site. It's a great site to take a look at.

This is part 2 of a 3 part course covering basics, fundamentals and some advanced properties. The three programs combined make a complete course in Adobe Muse. I am very pleased someone finally made a decent and complete course in how to use use Muse. As a photographer who has fairly simple needs for for building and maintaining a website, I needed something much less complicated than Dreamweaver. Brian Wood does an excellent job as he usually does. He is very detail oriented and he speaks technically to most operations within a program. He does work a little too hard at dumbing it down, but he is much better than those that skip over the details or those ewho don't even know the details. If you want to learn Muse, I highly recommend this course, in fact, all three parts.

Very efficient introduction to the basics in Muse. I did the Muse CC Quick Start course and then followed up with this Muse course on the fundamentals. This course is a little more technical that the quick start. Both courses give you what you need to do a website. The fundamentals talks briefly about HTML,JavaScript, etc.; while the quick start course does not. Recommend this class for using Muse for web design.
