1 Year Olds: Cake Smash - Lehan
Well, go ahead and bring our next baby in for a cake smash the thing I want to stress with cakes mash is you have seconds basically tio get the shot sometimes sometimes it takes a long time and sometimes if you're not careful if you're not ready they will smash their entire face in the top of the cake and you missed it, so be ready for you have to be ready for anything when it comes to kick smash is my fifty millimeter lens around somewhere where did that end up going? I'm not sure I think daniel is going to get it for me really quick I'm going to switch over to a fifty millimeter lens because I want to be close to this child and abel teo, get what I want to have to go spend the time getting far away should he react quickly to the cake? Awesome. Thank you. So so I got up I was shooting with my eighty five millimeter uh excuse me that nice death with depth of field and now I'm going to switch over to, uh fifty and so we can get in a little bit closer. Okay, so just to show you let's see...
if some of the images we had here where we're getting ready yeah he's a q t he gave me some some cute stuff here hurt um and the bucket technique really works well sometimes when you're trying when you have a mobile mover you want to get them standing obviously but you also want teo contain them when you need teo and with a tired baby like this who is getting fussy standing is the next phase for them so that's hard work standing if they're just learning how to do it there little wobbly it wears them out quickly whereas crawling they've been doing for a month or two and so they're comfortable with it and so if you have a crawler like that who's tired sometimes making them stand is going to be a challenge so that's kind of why I switched over to containing him in a bucket so he we could just kind of entertain him and see what kind of expression came out from that okay so now we have it's lee heim write les hi excuse me I'm not his name but he is an absolute kuti and he gets to do the cakes mass with us so I'm gonna go ahead and where is my cake? Is it over here and awesome we have a beautiful cake maker who I'm going to get a couple of shots of this cake by itself before he decides tio toe lay into it but it's a little monster cake and there we go mike it's on mike right now but it's a little monster is that look janki this for you yeah oh beautiful child he's got this gorgeous gorgeous hair so I had to take a shot of it or so before he decides to mess it up a little bit too so are baker can halvah and there is absolutely no problem with uh ensure my exposure's good here there's absolutely no problem with like partnering with a cake designer to do this kind of thing for your studio because parents are dead burn first birthday parties are seriously popular like um first birthday parties are kind of it in the in the parent world it is it's a rite of passage so when you partner with the kick a long ago have you grab take it away well quick when you partner with the cake person to produce cakes for you on this you're developing a relationship and you're sending clients to them for first birthday so they will love you for that. So if you could find a cake designer who can create cute cakes for you go for it I have had in the past parents bring their own cake but I'm about to kind of communicate with some cake makers and tryto develop a partnership in my town because he's just so fun when they're super cute the monsters on it you could go and come on over mom thank you so much for bringing him in high peanut look good have you well you are and I just dressed him in one of my cute props that I have I kind of want him teo be half naked and cute and get all the frosting all over him so on dh he's good he's not too much separation anxiety has just a big overwhelming environment huh lots going on huh what's going on those big black things flying through the air huh? Big black cameras he's so cute sweetie okay so yeah I'm gonna go ahead and see him take him to see how you do hi you want to come to meet you and yes you are hanging on to me tight he's like whoa oh and that's mr lauren you want to say hi to mr norris what do you think you do you wanna play with the cake? Yeah okay he's like I see that cake where is the cake let's show him you can kind of see what it's all about well yummy yummy yummy looking like that or does that look what do you think is like him? I don't know. Can you taste it when you think I don't know? I don't know I'm kind of seeing how you react to the cake just to know if he's going to like totally attack it or if he's actually going teo that's good or if he's actually going to just kind of be a little bit wary about it not really touching it first so some of them are really quick to respond and some of them are slow so let's see let's go ahead and I'm going to go and pop him down and go and bring the cake over and put it right between his legs and kind of were goingto yep and then I'm gonna just go and hold his hands for a second hold on for a second and we're gonna go have never touched that you go for it go ahead let go you can eat it yeah what do you think you know it's okay sometimes they don't know that they can eat it yeah try to eat it me okay go ahead and hand sanitizer on my hands here and I'm gonna help him eat it a little bit so he can taste it what do you think? Oh that's good mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm yeah yeah oh yeah you know, and sometimes they totally attacked the cake and other times they just kind of play with it a little bit but it's always entertaining like I couldn't take us both of his hands and just dig him into the cake ready oh, really digging in there? Yeah, great staff and some babies don't like their we go well, the better some babies don't like to get super dirty so they'll start to like complain about it and if they haven't had a ton of cake this is kind of what they do they don't really eat it they just kind of play with it I don't like death sometimes I will literally like take their hands and get oh yeah it's good stuff you're get making pretty good progress on that aren't you, huh? Yeah, you already bought hands her was it? I some kids like laugh and they love it and other kids are like this is weird feeling yeah, I've had kids like literally face plant into the cake before so you always have to kind of be ready for what they might do that yeah, but you show me your cake you show me yeah no, baby you worry, baby ugo what you're doing so good is excellent but way funny oh, you're so like it ah, push it, push it, mommy doing mom, come on back here right over my head. We're gonna grow awesome, but rather have a joy but this is a darling little image oh, yeah, eat that part is they're good. You can come over here if he wants column talk. You just kind of yeah. Wait, come here, daddy mama, you call him, we owe you, okay? Of course I'm okay, so that's pretty much kind of a cake smash that's what I would do with and then he's kind of showing a little less not not as much interest in the cake but I've got some darling little images of him making a mess of themselves and a few smiling ones and it's always good to have lots of like a bathtub on hand yeah. Now, he's fun he's got killer hair love that kid's hair job, buddy way probably have a tablet with rapid when the taliban we got okay, so, um, way air going, teo, move on that cake. We should probably stay for later, right, girls? It's always fun to take a bite later. Um, okay, so we're gonna go ahead and tidy up. Just touch here, let them cut that. Also, there any questions? While we're kind of changing changing directions here with the set cata from the audience or from from you guys, any comments concerns questions no, we're doing good. Going to come in just cannot have any questions. They were trying to, uh, find a place over there to get the baby all I'm gonna come over here, will you? Sure. Yap. And can I do this for you? Yes, I'm sure I have cake on my face, green frosting it was a question about whether whether that frosting like, do you check to see if that's washable or those types of well, it buttercream frosting is with baby soap? So, like at my studio, I have, ah, thank you. I have a baby soap on hand, that's tear free on organic baby soap, that's kind of kid friendly. And I have a huge kitchen thinking our production room that has warm water in it. We just kind of problem in this thing could give him a little quick bath, towels on hand, it's important to do that because they are going to get a little bit messy and and out of control. But super fun, arianna, phil, ernie says maybe is so cute. Yeah, donna's, agree she's a wonderful photographer, joe. I know her very well, so I do want to give a shout out to our cake planned. Her name is molly gorski, so cakes by molly gorski and I love the name of her kitchen, which is atomic tangerine kitchen knife and you could find her at atomic tangerine kitchen, dot log spot. Dot com and or her facebook page is atomic tangerine kitchen knife.

I just finished to watch this course. And I confess: I've been struggled all the time during the viewing to say already: I LOVE IT! So, I LOVE this course! Julia is so nice teacher, and photographer, and person. And she is so incredible organizator of whole child's photography business. She is amazing, so meticulous, so persuasive trough all and each one of the important points of this business. And she is just great in the part of studio´s shooting examples with the babies. This is one of the best and most valuable courses I found in Creative Live, thanks!

I've been so fortunate to be able to be a part of the Live audience experience with Julia. She is an amazing person, photographer and teacher. She does a fantastic job of explaining in detail, the steps she has taken that have helped her success as well as the steps that have set her back. We are so lucky to be able to learn from her experiences and to have someone who is willing to put herself out there to teach us and help us to grow as photographers. For anyone considering adding a Baby Plan to their portrait offerings, this class is a MUST have. Julia, you are #awesomesauce !! xoxo - Dawn Potter www.dawnpotterphotography.com
