Top Tips: #3 Direct The Feel & Energy
Directing the feel and the energy we've discussed this a lot how can you make on an image that you delivered to your client that's everything that they already see their children as, but you're going to direct it so that you can convey that in the way that they want to see and they could see pretty naturally I've got a little clip here of working with a she's about a six six year old sixty seven year old girl thank you sticks on dh the clip is about this's was cold this day I want to say is most freaky cold late days eso february march time frame and we're outside and I'm trying to get the shot where I show her on the move and having fun and kind of dancing, but I have to make it into something that's a lot more fun for her she was a very intense little girl, beautiful, very intense as in like you give us some direction she's got it, which I loved and you'll see some of that, but because of that intensity I was having a hard time getting a carefree look have you had that experience whe...
re if you give a direction people take it and say I will do that and then you get what I want to be a little looser, okay? You know, like I know you know so the only way to do that is back to what I've been saying all along which is getting out of your head you get out of your head you get them out of their head and a method similar to something like this it's a little video okay soft no robot heading towards me let's go go what you got she's got okay hands dropping now fans dropping yeah on and then we end up getting that which is what I wanted I wanted it loose as she's coming out me I'm shifting where I'm going she's just doing her thing on guy wanted to see something I'm gonna go back and show that it's only like twenty seven second clip I want to show one more time because I want you to look at a couple things first and foremost if you missed it the amazing man intensity issue brought to this casual cool shoot right it's fantastic secondly is that I'm able to keep her going but shifting her as we go so I didn't have these really tight risks askew can see right here I don't mind the snapping but I didn't want this so I had to shift that I had to loosen that up and I didn't want her down or up too much which we were naturally getting as she's getting super into this and of course we started out but I mean mirroring it showing her exactly what I wanted okay socked no robot heading towards me let's go girl what you got she's got okay hands dropping now fans dropping yeah, good so you can see how you get to there if I had just said to her do me a favor and walk to be in a casual, fun spirited way nothing I would have gotten nothing on and that's true even with adults a lot of the times so basically by digging in there by showing her what I wanted by encouraging her the whole way I'm buying in tow everything and the more I'm buying in the more they are my subjects constantly tim, I have some questions coming in on this subject matter so my com says do you always know how you will pose your subject or do you go right on the spot and improvise improvise? Yeah, is it or is it a combination it's about twenty eighty okay, twenty percent I have an idea of what I want to do actually my posing playbook is the whole compilation opposes that I love that will really help me start with things. Andi, I have that you might have even seen me pull out my phone and show some subjects do that straight all maybe I didn't show it but I glanced at right before I started I'm like, ok, these are the things I'm thinking I might want to do on ben apes at the time I'm so lost in my subjects that I'm doing what seems to be them and I'm saying how do I get that out in a way that's going toe appear more relaxed and comfortable on camera just like I did with her okay that's awesome to know what that balance is it's about that yeah I mean obviously I'm not stacking it up I always think about what I want to do is I'm going in and when we're on those laws you know how the shoot's air like this and we have this energy going up and we have this energy comin down when I'm gonna calm down I'll probably pull my phone and just glance at a couple ideas if I'm in a stuck place at who here has been in a place where you're halfway through the shoot you like what I do next the room okay eso when I'm in a place that's exactly why I created the posing playbook because I'll show these images of iowa's stuff this is exactly what I did tio to shift it to shift the lighting to ship the energy to get out the mood to try some new poses and looks on dh so that I have a whole right up with it along with photographs and it reminds me all the time so it's really nice yes this posing playbook you speak of e feeling I need it for you spartacus where is it that way, people opposing playbook. You can see that on my website, so you got a term like e dot com there's, a section called for photographers right on the header. You click that you'll see the posing playbook. Thank you. Yes, you're welcome.

Thank yo Tamara Lackey and Creative Live for such an amazing course. Every tool that is needed to maintain a successful business is in this course. Tamara's appreciation for love and family are so apparent in her style of interaction with people and methods of photographing them. In this class she shares everything from the basics of connecting with your clients to the importance of in person sales sessions and how to do them without being uncomfortable. I love Tamara's energy and sense of humor. She really emphasizes how important it is to be self confident and love what you do. This class is amazing. I can barely sit still through a movie these days, but I was entranced through 3 consecutive days of highly valuable information. I am thankful to have this class in my CL library. I am sure I will refer to it often.

Thank you! Thank you for bringing Tamara back to Creative Live! She is one of my favorite teachers! She has a bubbly effervescence as she teaches. I like her teaching style and never tire of her message in photography. Tamara has a way of working with her models/ clients that makes you want to just jump through the screen to participate in the process! Her portrait stories share her zest for life. She has great business ideas as well as for life and family. A truly balanced instructor for the beginning photog as well as a seasoned professional. Refreshing concepts about how to deal with challenging situations with lighting, posing, and interaction with her families. It's hard to pick a favorite section - the entire class was just great! A wonderful resource for your library to refer back to time and again. Keep up the great work Tamara. You inspire me to get out and shoot!

What can I say- it's Tamara Lackey, so of course it was AMAZING! I learned so much, about relationships, self awareness, lighting, portraiture, posing, gear, marketing, products, I could just go on and on. Tamara has an incredible ability to truly connect with her clients (and her students)- and she taught us how to do it! I admire Tamara on so many levels and I appreciate how much of herself and her own business practices she was willing to share. Her new organization Beautiful Together is inspiring. I will be watching this course over and over. Thank you Tamara Lackey and thank you CreativeLive.
