Sew Granny Squares Together
All right, now we need to build the hat, and what we're gonna do is we're gonna make a strip of granny squares. So I've already done the majority of the work, and I'm gonna show you how in the last up, how I've done all of this. But what you want to do is you want to create two strips of seven squares and then show so the two strips together to create one big strip. So to do that, yeah, you're going to hold the squares together and you're gonna be working. I like a little bit of an exposed seem so you can see how the stitches pretty prominent, um, showing up. And so to do that, you're gonna work in on Lee. One of the loops of the stitch is of the single Chris Shays. So if you're looking at the Stitch, you can see the overall stitches right here. But we want tojust work in that inside loop. So I'm going to come up and I'm going Teoh, take my needle, my tapestry needle. And I'm just using a long strand of the white yarn. I'm gonna come through the inside loop, pull that through then I'm ...
gonna go to the loop, the inside loop of the corresponding stitch on the opposite side and co come up through that loop. It actually is a little bit easier. If you hold them like this, hold them together so that you could make sure that you're working on the the same stitch per square. So I'm gonna come down through the inside loop of the next one and then up through the stitch the loop for the next stitch. I should also mention that this particular yarn that I'm working with is a roving urine, which means that it's not. It's not plied together, and so it isn't necessarily made to be sown with, Which doesn't mean that it will be totally secure once you sew knit, but it can rip and tear a little bit. Um, when you're sewing, if you pull too hard on it, so that happens to you. Don't get frustrated. Um, you know, just pull out, pull it out a little bit, and then rejoin. But it is something that can happen with that type of yarn. So we're just gonna keep going all the way back and forth. So you're essentially a zigzagging across. Okay, Now we've come to the end of this strip. We've got it assembled, so I want to make sure you'll see there's, like, a little because we're not working with perfectly square squares, they have rounded edges. It's not gonna line up perfectly. So you'll see. There's, like, a little bit of a dip. So I usually do a little cheater stitch by just diving into that corner and then pulling it so it pulls them together. Uranus pliable. So it'll kind of work for you. And then you want Teoh. Just do a little Not. And then we've, in this end, just a little bit. Pull that through, then snip it off. OK, so now we've got our strict complete. But now we need to turn it into the body of the hat by making it a cylinder. Right? So that means to make it a ring. We need to seem these two ends together, so we're gonna rejoin our yarn. I'm gonna add a tie a little, not at the end of this strand of yarn. I'm gonna come under. I usually start just a few stitches from the corner and I join in that way, and I kind of bury it a little bit. This is just kind of this is just a safety, really. Just so that you're not accidentally pulling your entire strand through that first stitch. Okay, so now I'm gonna come up through the inside loop, and then I'm gonna go to the opposite side, and I'm gonna come down through the next loop, that inside loop, and we're gonna dio exactly as we did when we were seeming up the strips together, But just down this side. So why don't you go ahead and work on this and I'm gonna finish seeming this up, and I will meet you back in just a jiffy toe work on the next step.
