Seamless Tripod Removal
Mhm. Now in our exercise files in folder B. We have a new Photoshop file that we got from After effects. So let's open this up in Photoshop in the layers panel, we'll see a folder corresponding to each one of the compositions that was in the original After Effects composition when we exported this. So I'm simply gonna come in here and remove these folders. Can it command shift G. On the Mac or control shift key in windows. Mhm. Just remove the groups. Now let's create a new layer, the bottom of the layers panel, click new layer, We'll name this, retouched with this layer selected. Let's go to the toolbar, let's select the spot healing brush. Make sure that you have sample all layers turned on as well. And then let's come over to the canvas and click and draw an area that will encompass the entire tripod and table and the shadow of the camera. Once you have that area painted out, let go with the mouse. And then Photoshop will heal that entire area. It will replace the tripod and the tab...
le. Everything inside of that painted area with samples from the surrounding area which is all the grass. So we want to make sure inside of this file that we don't touch any of the pixels on the edges. This particular tile will seamlessly fit back into the sphere. So before we leave Photoshop I'll make my brush a little bit smaller. I'm going to take up that leaf down there and spot he'll a few other areas. We're going to take out this access panel that's in the ground but we're going to do that a little bit later on again, we don't want to touch any of the edge pixels in this Photoshop file. So back in the layers panel, All of our edits are now on this retouched layer so we can always come back and make changes if we need to. So I'll leave both layers on, come up to the file menu and come down and choose save. Then we'll close the Photoshop file. So now we've modified this Photoshop file to remove the tripod on that separate layer. So next we'll reimport this Photoshop file back into our after effects composition and replace the existing tripod in the current camera view.

In Lesson 8 I would highly recommend grouping the layers into a folder named "Components," then duplicate it and turn the duplicate into a smart layer. Then rename the smart layer "Composite," or something like that. Then turn off the group of layers leaving only the composite layer displayed. This way the files remains editable for future lawn/image cleaning. The way the instructor did it would delete all of the layers for potential future editing.
