Hello, Internet and welcome to Creativelive. We are here in our Seattle studio. My name is Ken Klosterman, and I will be your host today. This is our six day, six and final day of a six day event that is our adobe creative APS starter kit. Now, this workshop, this comprehensive six days is all about getting to know all of those APS. If you have subscribed Teoh, Adobe, Creative Cloud. And as we've been talking to people all throughout the week, we know that there's a lot of people out there might be you that have started to get got the cloud in order to maybe do photo shop or maybe do in design. But maybe not knowing about the whole suite and all the different things, all of the different APs that you can use. And that is why Creativelive is putting on this week to bring you up to speed. It's a starter kit. So it's that person you were out there sitting there saying. Yep, maybe I've never used. Like I said, Illustrator, while you are in the right place, because today we have Erica Gamut...
, who is going to bring you up to speed on Illustrator, and she's taught here many, many, many times. I was looking at her instructor Page, and I think, you know, maybe 12 plus classes that Erica has done here. She is an educator first and foremost and has been here like I said many, many times. So we are excited to finish up what has been an incredible week with Erica today. So this is our pre show, everybody. We're just going to take a little bit of time to get started. But you guys warm up, get in the chat rooms. There is a click to chat with live participants Button that is right beneath the video that you are watching right now and see O Mallery is joining you in there and myself today. She's going to be passing along all of your questions so that I can get them to Erica at the appropriate times. And, uh, let's just talk about the week in there. Let Mallory know where you're joining us from what time it is in the world. Maybe you let us know where you are with your illustrator knowledge. If you've been just got it and have never opened it up, you're definitely in the right place. So we have Teoh folks here in our studio audience that we like to call our front row, and we're just going to take a minute to get to know them. We have Melissa and Andy and who are friends, which is awesome. Melissa is one of our regulars, and this is Andy's first time here. So, Melissa, let's start with you and tell me your name were joining us from all the regulars where we can find you online, but also a little bit about your experience with Illustrator, Where you So my name's Melissa and you can find me on Facebook and on the Web at Rogers Real Estate Photography, Um, and him from here in Seattle. Um, illustrator. It's still kind of scary to me. Why? Because you open it up and there's so many buttons and I don't know what any of them do. Excellent. Um, but I have tried to use it a little bit, and I'm excited for this cost to kind of just go over the basics again so that when I opened it up, it's not quite so intimidating, and I know how to get started. Well, that that is exactly well, you're exactly in the right place. Seeing as this is our starter kit week. This is for those of you out there who are potentially, like Melissa, who have never her open it up site. I don't know what to do, but by ah. What? What was the first reason that you open it up? What did you want to create an illustrator? What do you want to use it for? So we were trying to design a new loco, and we wanted to save money by not hiring someone. And actually, Andy helped us, um, kind of get started with up. But any time we wanted to change the color or make it bigger or smaller, I thought maybe I could do them photo shop and I was wrong. And so that was the first time that I opened Illustrator. Since then, we've been using it for our logo and great. So having that vector art where you can scale it, um, and have the ability to blasted up on the walls of Seattle? Perhaps? Well, we always appreciate having you in our front row. Melissa and your husband, Jared. What's Jared to do? doing today? Hey, it's, um, projects he is working on at home so funny that we'll probably be watching. So I who Well, we love having both of you here, Like we said and people at home truly connect with our front row. And you guys were all in here together learning so, Andy, welcome your first time here, Creativelive. Yeah. Good to be here. Thank you. Guests of Melissa. So she's really the reasoning behind this. Um, so about yourself. Who are you OK? Yeah. So currently in the aerospace business, um, formerly industrial design yacht designed a little bit of graphic design. So there was a time five years ago, Maybe that I used illustrator pretty extensively, but so the reason here, Um, just an overview crash course just to get re introduced to ah, illustrator and what it can do. And I was willing. Always eager to earn I learned something new. Fantastic. So I want to hear a little bit more about this yacht design. I don't think I've ever met anyone. Maybe if you're out there and in the chat rooms and you've also done some yeah, design, let us know. But what does that mean, tell me what that means. Uh, yeah. Design. So, industrial design with the very specific product, if it goes on a boat, goes on a yacht, Something custom, something private, something elegant. Lot of luxury involved as well. So you designing, um, the yacht itself, all the different pieces. Is that a architecture, er is it? What are the different pieces that you're Good question. Um, long story short. What? My forte has been exterior styling and the interior planning called the G A of the general arrangement. So, um, I'm not the interior designer, but once I know what the yacht, the layout, the whole superstructure when it's put in place, um, that's kind of my responsibility. It then gets handed off to somebody or an interior designer. And what are the tools that you use to to design these things out? What are the software tools they use? Right. So, um, first and foremost three D modeling. So, uh, I use right? No, it's not the only thing you can use, but there's a Seattle based company. McNeil and associates. Their product is rhino. It's pretty fantastic anyway, So I do the three d modeling in that um, then a render some photo realistic rendering programs. And then from there, import those renderings in the photo shop and then tweak them and photo shop. There's also some conceptual illustrations that aid me along the way just to get my ideas out and illustrated sites were Illustrator comes into play Adobe illustrator. Um, that is supercool. Andy. Thank you for sharing that. I love that we have so many people out there who are creative in so many different ways. And that is I've never met anybody that does stuff like that. So super cool. I think we should have some three D classes here on creativelive. Melissa. Yeah. If you know any instructors or you guys out there, we would love for you to go to our creativelive dot coms less suggest. And that is where you can actually suggest different instructors for in different topics. And a with that so welcome and will be looking to both of you for your questions throughout the day with Erica. So thank you. Good to be here. Thanks And everybody, we are almost about to get started. But one of the things we like to do here at Creativelive is bring you into our studio and take you behind the scenes. We have studios here in Seattle and San Francisco as well. And if you've been with us for a long time, you've seen that our our our brand, our logo, has been changing and or changed, and our website has been changing in all sorts of new developments to upgrade the experience for you. So I just wanted to play a little video. It's a little time lapse of something that happened this week in our studio where we got our logo and they put it up on the walls to different Well, so just a little fun thing to bring you here behind the scenes with us. So I'm gonna play just a minute long video for you. All right, Cool. Well, I hope you guys enjoyed that. I've watched that video a couple of times, even though I start happen in real time. It really is fun to see these things come to life and what we're all about here, learning and being inspired. So let's get started on doing that today
