we're going to get started with all about Adobe Illustrator Afraid of Cloud 2019. Okay, so when we open up, illustrator, I've developed this entire layout here for you and illustrator and we're just gonna walk through some of the basic stuff inside the illustrator interface. First off, we're dealing with the toolbar here. And when you launch Illustrator, you're going to see the toolbar and they have revised the toolbar slightly in 2019. If you've used Illustrator before, you'll notice that there's a lot of the tools that are no longer Bradley visible. And what they've done at the bottom of the toolbar here is given this little dot, dot dot and you're going to see this little dot, dot dot on several of the panels because this is where they have your extra tools. So if you've never used illustrator, then you can jump right into the tools. If you've use Illustrator before and you're wondering where those tools are, click on the bottom and it tells you how to go through and customize and y...
ou'll see any of the tools that Aaron Gray are already residing in your toolbar. Anything that is not in grey, you can simply click on, and it adds it to your toolbar. If you would like to revert back to the original toolbar that you were used, Teoh, you can go up to what I call the cheese grater and click on the Advanced, and this will bring you back to the full toolbar that you were used to using an illustrator. If you've used it before, this is what I've used. So you have that choice. If you're toolbar for some reason, disappears and you go being and you accidentally close it, not a problem. Go under the window menu and we can go to our tool bars and we can come back and you can bring up your tool bars again by simply clicking on tool bars and click on your basic or advanced. And that's gonna bring your tools back. One of the other things that can happen to when you're working is you may accidentally hit your tab key, and you'll notice that your panels will disappear. It's always nice to know what key that you've hit because your cat runs across your keyboard or piece of paper. Something lands on it, and you hit something you don't remember what it was. It's the tab key. And by the way, this happens in all the adobe applications. So Tab Key turns it on Tab Key turns it off. One of the other nice features about Illustrator is, and this is unique to illustrator. And this is one thing that I really enjoy is we have a lot of tools in the tool bar nested together. That's not the point that I enjoy. What I like about this is when I want to use a certain set of tools. I can click on the tools and I get a fly out menu because we have a lot of tools that are nested together. We'll use a lot of these drawing tools all the time, and I would like to have much quicker access to these rather than just simply clicking on the toolbar, waiting for them to come up and then scrolling through. So if you click and hold on the tool with the mouse, come over to the far right side of the panel, will get a vertical line here with a little arrow in it, and this is what's called a tear off by hovering your mouse over and holding and letting go, you will get a tear off panel so you have quicker access to be able to get to all of your nested tools. And this is fantastic because we do a lot of creation and illustrator and the main creation tools that we use all of our shape tools, all of our line tools. And I liked toe have those right there nice and handy. It's absolutely fantastic. Other important things that we're gonna have use for. Well, one of the very new features here is the properties panel. This comes up when you launch illustrator and the properties panel is kind of taking the place of the control bar. Now, if you've used illustrator before, the control bar used to sit at the very top of your illustrator screen and showed you a lot of important information based on your shape, your fill the color or your type properties, depending on what you were working on now that is no longer there. You can go and get that back. And as I say, you got the control bar and people like Oh my gosh, I have lost control. While you never want to lose control, but the newest version has it off by default. If you are used to using the control bar, you can still get that back by going into the window menu and calling up control, and you get this all back. One of the reasons why they took away the control bar as the default is because in today's world, laptops are only so big and the control bar keeps growing in size. This is a very common issue where your laptop doesn't show everything you need to see in the control bar. So the properties panel allows us to pack a whole lot more information in here when you have a smaller screen size. So because we're showing you all the new features here, yes, you can turn on and turn off the control bar here. We're going to get used to using the Properties panel and work our way through that. We're going to spend a lot of time in the Properties panel
