Adjust Facial Features
The new thing that you can do by adjusting faces in Photoshop, and I just think this is so funny, I couldn't not show you. I was skeptical when I heard about this feature. I thought there's no way, like how corny is this gonna be? But it's not corny, it's actually pretty realistic. So this is a picture of me and my son, and it's funny because he's the most happy kid, of course, full of smiles, very expressive. This was the first time that we ever put him on a bike, and I think he was not sure what to think, and he gave me the most deadpan expression, and it's just hilarious. So, and I'm of course really excited, but I thought, let's see what we can do with his mouth. So I'm gonna zoom in really, so you can really, really see. We'll keep his whole face in the frame here. But I'm not even gonna make a selection. I'm just gonna go to the Enhance menu, and you'll notice that there's an option down here, this is new for Elements 15, to adjust facial features. When I click on that, it's gonn...
a try to find all the faces, and it sees mine. We'll just not even go there. So I'll click to select his face, and I can tell it's selected because it's got the highlighted circle around it, and then, over here, in the lips section, we see that there's a smile slider. See if I can zoom in so you can see a little bit better. Check out what happens when I take the smile slider and I drag it to the right. (whistle going up in pitch) (laughs) How cool is that? Or what if we pull it down? (whistle going down in pitch) So this is where it started, and we can either make it more frowny, or we can ever so gently make it a little bit of a smile, and I just think that's hilarious. You can also adjust the width or the height of the lips. Maybe a little pucker. Ooh. (laughs) And you can even control the upper lip separately from the lower lip. So that's pretty wild. I always feel like I don't have much of an upper lip. Looks like he got more of an upper lip than I have, but I can give myself a little Botox injection right there, I guess. You can also adjust the eyes. If we click on the eyes, you can adjust the height. So it's subtle, but if you really exaggerate it, it can look cartoony. So we can adjust the eyes. You can even adjust the width of the eyes, the size. This definitely looks cartoony. The tilt, and even the distance between them. (laughs) It's kind of amazing. So, you can obviously have some fun with that. There's also some nose adjustments, and an overall face adjustment for forehead height, jawbone shape, and chin height. So, that's pretty fantastic. These are things that you could've done before with the liquefy tool, but you had to be really pretty skilled at pulling it off. So, it's really awesome to have this new feature where you can just click and drag.

Just watching this class live. It's my first class with Khara; she is a wonderful teacher, moving at a steady speed but always being careful to let us know what she's doing in the moment. I would classify myself as intermediate in terms of PSE but I've learned lots of little things that will make further use even easier and more fun. I really appreciated her descriptions of the difference between PS and PSE and her encouragement in using Photoshop Elements and all that it can do.

I have only been able to watch portions of this class but every single part that I have watched has been technically clear and inspiring to me. Based on this experience and the thorough, 58 item list of lessons, I will surely be buying this class soon! Thank you Khara and Creativelive for making a class on this topic and making it be super!!
