Live Shoot: Dad With Newborn Posing In Clients Home

Dad's going to come in how are we feeling? How are we doing? Great. Any questions come in we dio is this a good time? Yeah that's going to come in and let you know we have all sorts of questions but I want to start with some important ones share for wondering, wondering where you get your your wraps can wondering could you tell us what kind of material that is yes and no comes in the valley lay on your belly sit on your belly can you sit on your belly? Can you do that? Because when I say is not often what I mean your job is to figure out what I'm actually saying anyone that knows me like yeah that's about right okay, so this stretch wrap it's a stretch in it that's why I say yes and no it's a stretch in it and it's in our store we carry many different colors shop ty open and there is a discount code great and I have that this kind of teo I'm goingto be bring it up but while I'm going to ask another question why do they get this hand out of his face may weaken his pacifier so amy, you u...

sed the five and one yes and you have five different basic materials too used to reflect with correct do you prefer silver toe white and when do you choose to use which side okay, so when it's a very good question when I want to reflect light back into the subject I want silver I don't like golden babies because I don't want a gold tones I want nice fresh crisp polite so that silver when I am one of the biggest things we uses the diffuser I really don't use the white side I usually only use the silver side or I use the diffuser and tiffany if you show them what the diffuser is because many times we just said this happens a shooting in l a and the light was so harsh we're shooting at high noon which is actually one of my favorite times to shoot in the home okay but the thing about shooting high noon is that light is strong so what you do is came down yeah, I just get in there and put arm around for second take building out how show real quick let's say I'll use this this for example when we knew these things I'll tell you where they came from my promise because we have some fabulous vendors but let's just say I'm in the client's home and I've got a really bright light window and you can see sometimes in the baby is just so bright and it seems like it's over exposed what I'm more harsh thank you what I would do is I would take the diff fuser on one side and then I would take I am too. In my car, I have a regular reflector in my car and then I have the five and one so let's say, this is my regular reflector. I have a fifty two inch I think this is forty two inch, so I actually have a fifty two inch of my car and I would do this. You could already you can't even see you can see it happening right there. So they're light would reflect back in from this window down to the baby. But this it would go through so we would not be as what was your word harsh? It would not be as harsh. So I'm in love with my diffuser and that's. Why I love the five in one because it's just so great! Normally I'm just using the silver part the silver sight and I also did bring different raps. You know, I'm a material girl. I grew up with a mom who sowed and um, I'm I'm obsessed with material I need, like, five jobs. I want to be like a designer and someone who just love's material all day and organize his closet. So as a photographer, I could do it all, so you know, here's different types of wraps. What I love about the stretch rap is obviously keeps baby in, but you're going to see when we do the props segment that sometimes I'll use this for utility purpose and then this for design. So I'll wrap that baby in tight and then I'll do we're going to actually use some of these with baby just on bed, okay, but let's do it let's finish that, and then we're gonna work on maybe alone on the bed, and then we're gonna do one more a different pose with the family so I can show you wait, wait. Okay, dad. Good. Just pull that comforter. I can't get it. Good. Feeling weird on the bed. I know, I know. It's not it doesn't seem like a masculine thing, but it's okay, it can be good. I'm going to do this and then we're going to switch to a different pose and I'll make it a little bit more masculine for you. So we'll do this and then looked down a baby. Good. I thought I saw his which shoulder? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Good catch. Bring this this arm here bringing out a little bit more. You know, it's so weird, I'm looking at this waiting for it to happen. I was like I don't see it moving okay just those weird it was like it's not moving I just had a thought you know how I was saying I plan the next shot while I'm doing the first shot like in my mind I already shot you already done you've been photographed you don't even know it you're going to come in and you're going toe lay over his shoulder but I'll finish this real quick so let's get that the thumbs out of his head from good even now he looks like his no hand put your hand on top of a baby's head ah he was under yeah no I like that I like that I think I think I think we can do it smiling out quick how it's good give me a kiss what is smiley baby thank you john for got jon was here why are you so quiet you could have just run into the set good okay so high too quick that his mom where are you you're saying there but lean more on this side no well yeah no dad go back to where you were this this is my whole posing clinton see this whole twist of my hands this is what I do with my clients all the time yeah I'm always like and they go what what is that here's my thought how comfortable are you r no no no no no no okay here's what? I was going to dio horia live right? What I was going to dio was he was gonna be laying his value in your leaning over his shoulder. But then I changed my mind because I promised you something more masculine. So I changed my mind, but that would be a good pose. So the more my more masculine is you're going to come over here and you're going tio be like this with baby okay, so left leg and face like out the window good and this left arm is coming out good. Now, this is also opposed that I would want him naked for so many times I'll say, you know what? Let's do this shot and then I would go for it and trying to strip them down and do it, but because I want to do more with the baby, I'm not going to do that yet, but if I can get him naked turns the end I will do naked baby poses. I try to save naked for the end why we know it's gonna happen, right? It's inevitable. Okay? And so my idea is I'm going to get through the poses and the transitions, then we'll strip baby down babies going poop and pee and then then we're done, okay, we're done now does that mean we're done with the session? Maybe maybe not if I'm in the studio I've saved family for last so many times were like that's a wrap but if I'm in the home I'll say perfect time for a break everybody let's wash up take five cleanup and now we can focus just on baby's parents are all peed and pooped on their done okay so you have to think transition you have to think what you're doing next you want to be prepared and in control at all times so dad thank you john hand a little toe the other way there we go good, good good because what I want is I want baby's head this way not up not down this way beautiful so I'm actually gonna photograph baby just on your arm and then you're going to get in when you goodness I cannot take a break on this guy I love it can't it's your debut I want you to lean down a little bit yes good, beautiful and you're gonna lean a little bit more and kiss him right on his temple again and lift his head up to you gorgeous. Okay, you know what I'm gonna say next tiffany because now do that one more time I want to make sure I get a tech shirt and now just pull back away a little bit, look down and smile at him big smile. Love it, you're going to bring him up to you and go cheek to cheek and that's, our third pose looked right at me. Yeah, he's, like I didn't know I could trust, but keep who keep it. Yes, let him fall. Yes, good, good smile, beloved, I want I still want to rotate that baby's face out, love that love that I want to rotate the baby's face out a little bit more, pull out of that left shoulder. Good eyes, nice opens, beautiful twist your body, a little otherway right there. Good got it, got it, got it, got it, love it.

I really liked this course. As someone new to newborn photography, I learned so much valuable information such as using Aquaphor - which has saved me a ton of time editing, session flow, as well as not getting overwhelmed with having a thousand props. I didn't really find using natural light to work so well during my first newborn session after these videos. It offered some beautiful lighting and was much more soothing for the baby than having flashing lights, but once that appointment is booked, relying on natural light to be there the day of can be so nerve racking. Also, I didn't like how high I had to have my ISO using natural light through windows. However, I will say that if there are big windows and lots of light coming in, I will use it, but I would recommend planning for that not working out for you. Thank you so much, Ana, for a great class. I grew so much because of your guidance!
