Live Shoot: Parents With Newborn - Final Pose In Clients Home

So parents were going to come back in we may need to put a wipe on their feet because we're going to do baby feet and just work on some of the little details um so how many's poses timmy next how many poses would you do with a baby and it's like okay well I'm gonna do the whole family and you do mom baby dad and baby but remember this is just half of a session right that's how we're doing and so I got all of that now I did baby wrapped in the beginning now I did baby wrapped in a different wrapper then I would do probably one more on the bed and what would it be naked naked but what we're gonna do is we're gonna do baby feet and so we bring we have wife so they say parents clean your feet and this is sometimes hard shot to dio on dh sometimes it's great and sometimes it's just really not great so don't kill yourself if it like sucks ninety nine percent of a hundred just sometimes you just nail it right don't you think it's one of the shots where it's not always great but I'd like to tr...

The bottom yeah thes gray pants might mice my sewer just made him out of scrap material I mean we have adorable things from vendors that will show in the props segment but I'm going to show you how easy okay, this is this is all of this it's not a big deal there's cute things that you could buy that will tell you later but this is just people are going to say where'd you get these I mean she made him out of scraps okay so do you feel comfortable sitting criss cross because or do you wantto do the legs the other way? Men it's it's kind of how does that looks weird how are you sitting the other way for a second you were like that that might look okay the problem is your lego is going to come out of the frame so yeah okay I'll take that me up a little bit I'll take that and then fix your collar seer all tatted up there we could strip you down and go naked and do like to keep things with the tax but we won't do that on this segment but like anyone who loves tattoos like oh the possibilities are endless except for screaming lady probably think of her when you were going to get pregnant she probably was not on the radar you may want to turn her into a flower a little later on oh my okay she's like right there on the arm I do like this one my little pony that what it is like my little pony okay so you're being a trooper camden is such a good baby honestly I got to tell you most of our baby's air like this and people always say you know my babies are all screamers look back why well can we talk about the assistant real quick it's you know I didn't even know I needed an assistant until little slug until the lab that I was working with approached me this was during the film days and said show your butt you little just a little smaller babies the lab that I worked for during my film days said he had a daughter in college and did I need any help because she needed one hundred twenty hours of internship to graduate and I was like, sure and that began that was when I had olivia that began eleven years of working with assistance and he's passed and I did not even know I needed one to be honest with you because I was by myself, I don't like his hands too figure out that out I was by myself schlepping my stuff and I gotta tell you, I look back, I wish I was like being filmed at that time I probably to really dumb I got it, we're going to flip him over on his tummy, then we won't have the hands thing here's my issue with this pose and under you really see it, but where it's like their hands are always in their face and then you spend shoulder you spend the whole time trying to do this the easiest cure for that get ready with the passive narrative is flipping on his tummy. Now we do have the whole shorts issue, but we're going to fix that too, because then it takes him away from wanting to suck his hands and most babies love their tummy can you get his hand under his face? I can't reach that far on dso okay, so this is what began and I've learned a lot over the years and one thing I've learned that is if you have some help even if it's just to do what tiffany's doing even if it's to clean up to unpack your car while you're talking to the client mom needs to scoop her arm or if you're in an angle, go more under um if it's nothing else that sometimes if I'm nervous when I'm going to a client I have support and I have someone that's going to say it's okay, you can do this because sometimes you get so wrapped up you're so stressed out you're like running late you're unpacking I forget things I forget things all the time and so yeah well these will fit him probably fine can we meet stripping? I can try it so there have been times like tiffany have seen she's done in a couple of times did you see that? Did you see that? No, I I didn't see that at all and then I go home kicking myself like why didn't I see that if you have someone just looking over your shoulder and just saying hanna it's gotta be someone that's got your back that's willing to work with you and it's not like I pre planned everything so when I get to a home or when the clients come into my studio I you know, half the time I've never even met these clients because they're new and then half the time they're returning clients but every baby is different I can't predict with the baby's going to dio and so I just feel like in my opinion, every newborn photographer should have an assistant that's the way I feel and how you find them is so many different ways you could go to colleges, get internships, baby sitters, nannies anyone that works in child care preschools make the best assistance because they know they have the reflexes to work with babies and children need pretty good reflexes. And so stephanie, who came in as an intern, worked at kitty candidates and was working in a preschool and she was faster than I wass I mean, she was wait it's probably more experience with kids and I did it was really fast and so she was like jumping and come on and she we still call her are you best intern ever? And we ended up hiring her and she still helps us out. But look for people that love babies and children to work with children could be stayed home months but just need a little extra income you wanted you made me really frank about something let's say you mean you were in session is two hundred ninety nine dollars okay, that's a fact let's say that the person that's helping me is twelve dollars an hour I mean, tiffany makes more than that but let's just say for someone who's assisting let's say twelve to fourteen dollars an hour let's say it's a two hour new morn session really? Twenty eight dollars, really? So when people go, I can't afford it. You can't afford not to. Tiffany doesn't assist me that much in my sessions anymore because she works with my clients. And that, to me is so much more important. And now we have new people that come in and wrangle with us but important jobs like this and celebrity clients, I try to take her as much as possible because she's like my safety like she knows me so long, but we also train girls all the time, right? Ok, newborn I would say on average probably two hundred fifty two, three hundred how many I'll shoot and how many I'll show seventy sixty seventy we sell a lot of books books have been my number one seller for a solid ten years I mean solid we big fan of books, pregnancy, newborn books, newborn books, coffee table books gosh, almost every clime vice books don't you think canvas for sure big, big fan of canvas over the crib but people go oh my god! She shows seventy images well, forty go in a book and minimum on dso naked. I mean it's rare when I just have a baby without a sibling then I'm like easy shoot just a newborn that's all I got um I can tell you a couple of things I have a play area and so we sh we tell clients that baby they can go and just play in our studio and you know, people say oh, I don't have the space for a play area hey no excuses my first studio was five hundred square feet and talk about no room was gonna fix his fingers and I have a play area and you guys got out of baby feet excited e have a play area and we tell them to just play and we bring them into the pose so a perfect example is where baby was just laying on bed we'd say we got baby let's bring toddler in and we'd have tattler run up on the bed we probably stick a cheerio underneath the arm baby looks over for the cheerio we got the shot back to the play area that's usually how it works. There you go, children wanna one with newborns and in that shell that was your class. Okay, we're gonna do one more and we're done. What viewing software do you use and where do you best like to do it in the client's homes or in your own studio? We use light room way just got a ton of light. We use light room and we usually do them in our studio. Yeah, parents leaning in together um, we usually do in our home, but we do offer free in home ordering appointments. I'm sorry. I don't even know wade do them in our studio using light room on a big mac and we do offer ready when you are free complimentary in home ordering appointments in which we bring a laptop and light room we'll keep her for anna just one or the other cell more do you notice um uh depends on the client because honestly the way I look at it, a client has a budget we can legally. A client has a budget, regardless, to be honest. And I think I'm going to sell the same, whether I'm in the home or in the studio, because at the end of the day, he's. Good. The client has their own budget. I do like being in the home cause I can see their space. But I think I sell justus much either either way.
