do you? You It's getting late here feeling crazy. What's up, everybody? I forgot what it's gonna see. Hello, people of the earth. My name is pie. Welcome to another mixology video. We're going to creating the Ilford hp five lifted, fade, preset. So in his video B, creating this precept that takes your image from this lovely little raw file to this beautiful, faded, Ilford toned black and white image. And we're gonna create the preset in less than 10 seconds or roughly around there were also can apply it to a couple of the images. We might do a little bit of advanced editing. Who knows? The sky is the limit. But let's jump into this image and we're gonna just get started. And the first thing you do is reset everything out by pressing control, shift our and let's just do it for all three images. So you know I'm not lying. I don't fly. Who lies? It's getting late. I'll be honest. It's quite late. Let's go ahead and put in a exposure adjustment. Their 0.8, I think I said pout of power 0.8.
And then let's save this by pressing what we're gonna press V first just to convert this to a standard black and white with our temperature and are exploded out in. And we're gonna save this as the before. So we have a little comparison here when I press the backslash key. So the Ilford hp five lifted Fate has already saved in the mixology for the preset system. And this is what that preset is doing. So look at this beautiful black and white conversion that has a great bias towards skin tones. It looks fantastico. It has a really great contrast. And I'm just gonna keep talking like this the whole time. Okay, let's get I don't need to keep saying it looks good. I think it looks good. Let's go back to our black and white. Actually, let's just go back to that exposure adjustment. All right, So we're gonna do is let's go ahead and create the preset put 10 seconds upon the clock, and if I blow it out of the water, I'm sorry, but look at this name of the mixology. It's called Ilford HP five lifted face. So basically, we're lifting shadows and doing a soft fade to the image again. We try and make At least I try and make all of my mixology than my presets. Very well named. Very descriptive. So I know exactly what it's gonna do before I click the button. Okay, So and what I would probably say is, you know what? I'm gonna go ahead and rename this right now, because I know it's not actually a fade. It's actually a map. So I want to say, lifted Matt because of fate is actually more. Let's just call it lifted, Matt, the one below that I believe this one is actually a faith. But if it's not, we'll fix it when we get to Okay, so let's go back. And we're going to select our press control shift our command, Shakhtar to reset this out, by the way, to rename it in presets at any point time. Just right. Click on it and select rename. Let's bring this back up. I think we had 0.8 selected here, and great. Let's create now are preset. Okay, so let's put 10 seconds on the clock and hopefully I don't go into the penalty zone. We're gonna start with our foundation of HP Will Ilford hp five. OK, Once we select that, we're going to stylization, add in a neutral matte curve, and then we're gonna leave our base tones actually where they're at. But let's go on a definition. Let's tweak that a little bit. Mainly, I want to add a lot of contrast. I'm gonna add a little bit more film grain because this is a black white image, like a little more film. Bring on my black and whites those four clicks and we're done with my version of Ilford 85. Feel free to create your version however you like. This is my it saved out on reporter mixology again. If you want to save it out. Click Plus copy these settings. De select white bounds exposure gradually filters and radio and select chromatic aberration. Your lens corrections. Give it a name. Select the folder and hit Create. We've done that a 1,000,000, times. Don't need to do it again. All right, so once this is done now, what types of images do we use for this effect? Well again, fits under all of the standard film type looks, images that are timeless images that have vintage quality images that don't have good color to begin with. Those are all reasons why a black and white film it preset would look fantastic or if we just like the style to begin with. I like this one a lot, though, and let's go over what kind of makes this preset tick. We have a drop in highlights and a drop in whites and a pull in shadows. So again, we're trying to do a subtle, dynamic range pool, basically, but it's more of lifting shadows and preserving some of the highlights. We've also left clarity at negative 10. This is again to kind of create a softer look to my version of Ilford HP five even out that contrast. Look, what we've done is we pump the contrast all we have to get it back. I like it to have a nice contrast look to this image, and we have a subtle matt shaped curve, which pulls up the shadows. It pulled up the blacks just a bit, pulls down the whites just a bit while adding just a NASCAR of across the rest of the curve to kind of boost Overall contrast, we have our Ilford 85 black wind mix and again, if you ever want to tweak that? Or if you ever want to know where it comes from its again in the color toning. So if you scroll down, you have Ilford hp five right there under the filmic black and white toning. If we switch this at any point like to say Court Kodak, Poor Tra, it's going to switch into a color image, and it's gonna apply the Kodak portrait settings. Okay, so just a heads up that if you flip that it is going to change. But that's the black and white mix. We also have the same calibration settings that we did in the last video, because again we're using the Ilford HP five black and white toning. We've added a little bit of extra grain. We've also reduced sharpening and added a bit of noise again. When we zoom into this not noise, but added a little bit of a noise reduction. We have a beautiful soft finish to the detail. It looks really fantastic. It looks awesome. Okay, so let's check out the before and after with this image. Here is the standard black and white conversion. Here's our Ilford hp five black of my conversion looks beautiful. I love this again. I like this preset to have a softer look to it. With that clarity drops the skin tones look more flattering, and it kind of allows the highlights to bloom around the subjects. So let's apply that to this image. Get to this glorious little black of my conversion, which I dig. That looks so awesome. I'm gonna grab a radio filter, pull that and drop it in. And this is set to d sharpen what I want to do. This let select the burn. So let's just burn it down a little bit around the outsides. And I might even raise the overall exposure just a tiny bit. Here's the before and the after that image that looks fantastical. And then let's elect our final image. Once again, these are all images that have a very soft look or a timeless look. Or, you know, they kind of fit the bill. When it comes to this. Look, it's like the lift, and Matt, I'm gonna pull up on my exposure just a bit. And you know what? Let's actually leave it down just a little. What I'm gonna do, though, is grab my adjusted brush, and we're gonna go to a whiten. So we're gonna go to a Dodge Whiten four stops and we're gonna paint this around the outside to make sure that the rest of the outside of the image just goes to a complete white. Okay? And that looks glorious. Fantastic. All right, let's check out the before and the after on this image is, Well, here's the before. Here's the after. Looks awesome. Really cool. Black and white conversions for these images. So hopefully enjoyed rhp five are Ilford, HP five black and White Conversion and I will see you all in the next video.
