Why Systems Are Important - and How They Help
So let's review what a system is ah system is a procedure process method or course of action designed to achieve specific result its component parts and inter related steps work together for the good of the whole right that's basically the complex definition of a system good systems are the solution to weak sales, low profit margins, customer dissatisfaction, poor performance, inadequate cash flow, employee turnover daily frustration because if the system is running the business and you're running the system, you will be able to see where problems are before they happen or when they're just starting to happen not when there's a catastrophic failure at the end which in turn when there is no catastrophic failure george stays the bay right? You just go okay there's a little system I need to take care of little flaw in the design got to fix that and move on and it doesn't become a catastrophic event because some client is unhappy or in order went wrong or somebody doesn't like their images...
etcetera, etcetera, good systems eliminate generalize solutions what do I mean by generalized solution? We're just going to say this generalized it's not specific enough in its just kind of been flows and you can't really get anything done it's not addressable it's where she washing right? Oh, we'll do it this way today and we'll do it another way tomorrow and then your room confused right is chaotic for an oxymoron term it's chaotic organization right there's no such thing as chaotic organization but that's what it feels like when you have a generalized the system correct but that's changing seat of the pants operations oh let's just do it this way today and tomorrow we'll figure it out really okay taking liberty with decisions decisions should be systemized you should make the same decision for the same problem every the same way every single time and if for some reason that solution to the problem doesn't work one time you analyze and go why didn't that work with that particular situation let's tweak it instead of overhauling everything going way change thing completely do you want? I mean then you put yourself into a spiral panic down a well you can't get out of don't leave anything to chance that's what I've been trying to tell you these entire five weeks don't leave anything to chance make sure everything has a step by step organizational flow to it that creates the same result every time that will allow you to do amazing things with your life and your business who cares? Well again you can detach from your business you can take a vacation for four weeks and the business will still run by itself no sounds little exaggerated as artists we need to be there but essentially you can take it like I could belinda's at home right now doing studio stuff were the height of the season clients christmas she is taking care of everybody at home and I could be here teaching okay, I could go on a week to week vacation and know that everything is taken care of because there are systems in place that belinda knows how to run okay, you are reliable to your customers your stress level lowers I have seen on the facebook group so many people stress level lower and it is so beautiful to see people are going ah really finally such a good feeling consistency breeds confidence when you know the result are outcome every time you can rely on it right and that build your confidence you know that with every session you're going to do this number opposes this number of images this is how it looked they're going to the same thing every time so each client is getting the same product you know you could do it you know you're confident about it and each time you do it you get better and better and eventually it's like a walk in the park. No problem I can do this it's not scary anymore okay, your income becomes predictable I think rachel's experiencing this already she's saying oh my gosh when I do I ps with proper product line with proper pricing with good policies in a pre consultation I can start predicting my sales at every session I can make a thousand dollars in every session this is just a matter of worrying the clients who come through the door right that's all you gotta worry about now is how many clients are getting you're coming in the door and how you're going to get them in you know they're going to spend every time which is such an amazing feeling so confidence building your business of course grows from all of this and this quote I have been hammering in your head the last five weeks and it is so true let's systems run the business and people run the systems people come and go but systems remain constant and that is from michael garber who wrote the e mail and he is a brilliant businessman if you want a book as a recommendation I highly recommend reading the myth it will make you think about your business differently it started with me system's run the business people run the systems okay so big picture oh it's exhausting isn't it setting all this up I gave you one hundred seven page workbook with this course I mean it's on I've been it's been so fun to see people open on like day nineteen and going through all this stuff online like they're doing it they're actually do it's just it's phenomenal but I know it takes off sting I know it is and kudos to you who have the courage to power through that to tackle those assignments to have the distance and the dogged determination had just do it because you're seeing a change how you think about your business it's giving you a big picture perspective that you didn't have before now for those of you who are still in the midst of it are still beginning these worksheets it's still gonna hurt a little the hole is going to get bigger before it shrinks when you look at that hundred and seven page workbook you go I can't do all this if it's over whelming and yes the whole of what you have to do and the tasks you have to complete is going to get a lot bigger before it starts shrinking but once it's done it shrinks instantaneously the minute you get these systems complete and everything set up in place all of a sudden the whole just goes like a black hole sucks everything into it and all of a sudden you've got systems that are working beautifully and you rarely have to touch them it's just little tweak here in there ok that's not working what's let's fix it not this overwhelming flood off stuff that you to do list that you have to do and I have seen this whole get huge in the last five weeks with all of you I have seen the whole just call what people going oh my god, I can't do that and those people who are succeeding are the ones who are putting one foot in front of the other with that dogged determination and are saying I will do this I will keep going no matter what and those are the ones who are going going to excel and sore okay it may feel like you're being chased by a shark okay I totally get it but now is the time to make a plan I talked in the very beginning about the pumpkin plan right how you need to grow a giant pumpkin remember this ok there is just to review for those of you who didn't see the very first segment there is a culture of people who like their lives mission is to grow a pumpkin the size of this room ok they are extremely passionate about it and there is a very specific process with which you grow a prizewinning pumpkin okay first of all you have to start out with a prizewinning see the atlantic seed is considered the top seed in pumpkin growing circles you could pay twenty thousand dollars for a seed you live it people will pay twenty thousand dollars for a seed I would be in that business ah lot of seeds come out of one pumpkin my point is you have to start with a good idea you have to start with a unique product you have to start with an artistic voice and vision that is yours and no one else is they can't come from copying others work okay it has to come from you and your heart I always say that creativity is the soul's voice trying to speak out it's your heart trying to say this is me that's what creativity is that's what unique voices so you must have that prizewinning seed a product that is unique in your market that is different and that is desirable if your work looks like everybody else's it's a commodity and people will demand the best price for it they won't be willing to pay for something that's not unique so first things first you must have your seed then water it you've got to sell it to the world water it like crazy then you gotta slash all the diseased gordon we've been talking a lot about this in the facebook group kill those diseased pumpkins the ones that will just never make it the ones that will never be your prize pumpkin okay these are all the clients who suck these air all your clients who are demanding the best price this is carrie garcia's client who asked for the digitals and she went no if you want your money back for your session I'll go ahead and refund tio no problem okay so slash those disease swords have integrity for your business grow it with clients and people who respect and do what you love because that leaves you time to nurture these systems and go after the clients who count. Like carrie said, it gives you time to spend with your family. Why would you wanna waste it on a crappy client? An extra five hundred bucks? What do you do, what's important? And we're gonna talk a lot about that in the segment your family or money, time or money.

Everything that any photographer ever needs to run their business and make it successful and profitable can find all in one place, this course. I always felt inspired by Julia's amazing business skills, she is one of the best in this industry. I have taken all of her previous classes before and never felt disappointed. Instead, I would feel more confident, educated, empowered and inspired. Every segment is packed with so much information and it feels overwhelming at first, but the workbook that this course comes with, gives you sanity and helps you to work through it.
